AR Battles Just Got Even Cooler With These New Weapons
The real world is pretty excellent, what with its many food choices and wonderful fountains and statuaries. But sometimes you want to take the real world up a notch, and that's where augmented reality comes in.
If you aren't familiar, AR uses technology to add a little something-something to the regular world in which we all live and breath. One of the cooler things to come out of this melding of technology and reality has been AR weapon-battles.
Now instead of grabbing a controller, you can grab a sci-fi weapon replica, drop your phone into it, and have a shoot-out with all your friends, maybe in one of reality's many statuaries. Go nuts!
We checked out some extremely cool AR weaponry on the floor of CES 2018. Check it out in the gallery below.

Pokemon Go Cancelling Support for Older iOS Devices
Pokemon GO is cancelling support for older iOS devices that are incapable of upgrading to iOS 11, such as the iPhone 5 and 5c.
The Pokemon GO team announced the change is coming because they are making improvements to the game that will "push the application beyond the capabilities of the operating systems on such devices."
The change will take place on Feb 28, after which trainers may no longer be able to access their accounts from that device, or use items from their bags. Players interested in continuing to play the game will have to do so on another supported device.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will soon allow players to report cheaters directly from the in-game replay system.
The news was revealed as part of a Steam Community blog post listing what will be available PUBG's next update. Currently available on the game's test servers, the reporting system has been expanded upon to create "a fair play environment in PUBG".
Per the blog post: "This means that you no longer need to be killed by a suspected cheater for you to be able to use the in-game reporting tool".
Players will be able to report directly from the player list, as well as on the timeline when observing or following a match. The post encourages players to use the system to make the developers aware of cheating players who are "undermining your enjoyment of the game".
A Closer Look at Razer’s New Laptop Powered by Smartphone
Razer always has something ridiculous to show off at CES, and while some of its past prototypes never made it beyond the show floor (like that 3-screen laptop), Project Linda looks like a contender.
If you didn't know, Razer's Linda turns your smartphone into a laptop. Not through magic, but rather, you pop your smartphone into a laptop and the phone breathes life into it. It's pretty cool.
We grabbed some images of the hybrid prototype from Razer at its CES 2018 booth. Will Project Linda become a reality? If the past is any indication, no.
Atari’s Pong Cabinet Mixes Digital Nostalgia With Real World
Nostalgia is the warm comfort of remembering a time long passed. It can trick you into thinking things were somehow better, but really it's a projection of your own innocence onto a wider world that was in reality a colder and more cruel place.
But who doesn't like remembering "back in the day?" Atari has long capitalized on nostalgia, but few of its projects have done it so stylishly as this Pong table. Instead of simply turning a CRT on its side and stringing some LED lighting, this table has actual, 3D paddles and a "ball" instead of pixelated representations.
It's a very cool spin on a very classic game, one that spawned dozens of knock-offs and helped start the entire industry of video games. Check out the Atari Pong table at CES in the gallery below.
Exclusive Fight Scene from The Commuter – IGN First
All month long, IGN First is spotlighting the Films to Watch in 2018. Today, we take a look at Liam Neeson's new film The Commuter, the actor's latest turn as an action hero -- which is set almost entirely on a train!
Liam Neeson has made almost a second career for himself as an action star in the past 10 years since Taken was released and became an unexpected hit. And now he's back in the action-thriller The Commuter, teaming with his frequent collaborator director Jaume Collet-Serra for the tale of Michael (Neeson), an insurance salesman whose daily commute from Manhattan to the suburbs is complicated by the appearance of a mysterious stranger (Vera Farmiga) who makes him an offer he can't refuse. All Michael needs to do is find a certain passenger on the train before it reaches the end of the line and he'll receive a hundred thousand dollars in return. But things quickly escalate, of course, as the ex-cop realizes that he's become entangled in a criminal conspiracy with far-reaching implications.
