Pinball FX3’s Switch Issues Unlikely to Be Fixed

Pinball FX3 has a performance problem on Nintendo Switch, and the developer has confirmed that it's unlikely to be fixed.

Many saw the opportunity to play in portable mode - which can use the Switch screen in portrait to show a full table - as a key feature for the game. Unfortunately, at launch the mode ran at a lower frame rate than on other versions, while its resolution made some tables look terrible when in docked mode. A patch was promised, but never arrived.

Zen Studios posted an update on Reddit addressing the community's issues - the long and short of it is that it would involve too much work to get the game to 60 frames per second in handheld mode, and the studio says it doesn't have the resources.

What It Was Like to Live Through That Oscars Wrinkle in Time Screening

Host Jimmy Kimmel pulled off an epic stunt during the 90th annual Academy Awards when he and a crowd of Hollywood's biggest stars -- including Gal Gadot, Guillermo del Toro, Mark Hamill, Lupita Nyong'o and Lin-Manuel Miranda -- took a break from the Oscars and headed next door to crash a screening of Ava DuVernay's A Wrinkle in Time at the TLC Chinese Theaters. The stunt might have been a surprise to Oscar viewers, but no one was more shocked by the way the events unfolded than the unsuspecting audience watching the movie. Here's what it was like to be sitting in the front row.

What Shape of Water, Get Out’s Wins Mean for the Future of the Oscars

As Guillermo del Toro and the cast and crew of The Shape of Water took the stage after their Best Picture win at the 90th Academy Awards, I couldn’t help but feel like we were witnessing a turning point for the Oscars. In fact, I’d be willing to bet that we’ll look back on last night’s show as a mold for how the Oscars progress going forward in terms of genre films being represented in the major award categories.

The 90th Academy Awards seemed to speak to folks like me (and I presume a lot of you) who have felt like horror, fantasy, and science fiction films generally get overlooked during Hollywood’s big night. Honestly, in 2018, it’s harder to find someone who isn’t caught up on Game of Thrones or the Marvel Cinematic Universe films than it is to find someone who is. So it makes perfect sense that these giant pillars of popular culture are rewarded when they’re excellent.
