7 Must Play Switch Games Announced During Nintendo’s 2018 Spring Nindies Showcase

Nintendo held its latest Nindies Showcase this week and revealed a wide variety of new indie games for Nintendo Switch owners to look forward to in 2018. Here's a rundown of seven must play games that were announced for Switch during Nintendo's 2018 Spring Nindies Showcase.

Okay, so we know that Nintendo announced this one a little while ago, but we finaly got our hands on it! Travis Strikes Again isn't exactly No More Heroes 3, but the sooner you become OK with that, the sooner you can appreciate it for what it really is: a great excuse for Travis Touchdown to invade a bunch of fun, arcadey bite-sized games on your Nintendo Switch.

The two-player demo we played this week (with the game's creator, Suda51, no less) was a fun and futuristic beat 'em up where players teamed up against waves of video game glitch inspired bad guys using Travis' signature beam katana light sword as well as a set of equally insane special attacks. When your beam katana loses its power after enough use, you'll click down the stick and shake your Joy-Con to recharge it, resulting in you and your co-op partner grinning at the craziness of it all. We only played one of the several games that will end up in Travis Strikes Again, but and this title is definitely shaping up to be something very special (and insane) for Switch owners. — Brian Altano

Rare Studio Head on Sea of Thieves Post-Launch Plans

Rare has high hopes for Sea of Thieves, and according to studio head Craig Duncan, the development team intends to continue to support the game post-launch to make it "as big and successful as it can be."

On the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered, Duncan said the studio "of course" has a roadmap and plan for the future of Sea of Thieves. "There's more stuff we want to add to Sea of Thieves," Duncan said, noting the team "definitely want

to be reactive" to fixing any balancing issues and bugs that might arise.

"Every single person I've talked to that launched a service-based game tells me, 'Hey, you think you know what you've gotta do—actually when you launch there'll be a load of different stuff,'" he explained, noting he's well aware there will probably be plenty of stuff the team wasn't aware of prior to release that they'll need to address after launch.

Cyberpunk 2077 Will Likely Be at E3 2018, Won’t Launch With Multiplayer

Cyberpunk 2077 will be shown in some capacity at this year's E3, and won't be launching with a multiplayer mode.

Speaking at CD Projekt's financial results conference, company president Adam Kiciński was asked about what could be shown at the LA gaming conference. "We haven't announced that yet," he replied, "we will announce it just before."

While there's a chance that that announcement could be 'we aren't showing anything at E3', it seems likely that we'll see a glimpse of the elusive RPG this June.

As has become a pattern with Cyberpunk details, there's not a great deal to go on, but Kiciński confirmed that the launch version of the game will be a single-player experience - but wouldn't rule out different plans for its expansions:

"By their very nature, superhero comics at the Big Two don't often get to tell lengthy, complete stories with definitive endings. There's always another story to tell and another bend in the road for these heroes. Part of the appeal with Jane Foster inheriting the mantle of Thor is that her story can truly end. There may always be more enemies to battle and deeds to accomplish for the Odinson, but Jane has been fighting against her inevitable death since her very first appearance in Jason Aaron's run. And now that she's reached the end of her road, this series is paying off on years of crucial build-up." -Jesse

PUBG Updates: Event Modes Coming, Xbox Performance Improved

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is getting updates for its different platforms in the form of limited-time event modes, as well as improved performance on Xbox One.

Following in the footsteps of Fortnite, Event Mode is "a periodically changing preset Custom Game" where the devs will be "trying new things and experimenting with different game parameters" with the new content "available in the game only for a limited time," according to the announcement.

The first limited time mode is going to be pretty basic, and will pit teams of eight players against each other, with the rifle drop rate doubled. If you think it doesn't sound all that different from the usual fare, you'd be right, but bigger things are planned for future modes.
