"By their very nature, superhero comics at the Big Two don't often get to tell lengthy, complete stories with definitive endings. There's always another story to tell and another bend in the road for these heroes. Part of the appeal with Jane Foster inheriting the mantle of Thor is that her story can truly end. There may always be more enemies to battle and deeds to accomplish for the Odinson, but Jane has been fighting against her inevitable death since her very first appearance in Jason Aaron's run. And now that she's reached the end of her road, this series is paying off on years of crucial build-up." -Jesse

PUBG Updates: Event Modes Coming, Xbox Performance Improved

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is getting updates for its different platforms in the form of limited-time event modes, as well as improved performance on Xbox One.

Following in the footsteps of Fortnite, Event Mode is "a periodically changing preset Custom Game" where the devs will be "trying new things and experimenting with different game parameters" with the new content "available in the game only for a limited time," according to the announcement.

The first limited time mode is going to be pretty basic, and will pit teams of eight players against each other, with the rifle drop rate doubled. If you think it doesn't sound all that different from the usual fare, you'd be right, but bigger things are planned for future modes.

Fortnite’s February Revenue Eclipses PUBG

Last month, Fortnite's revenue topped that of its battle royale rival, PUBG, earning $126 million; an impressive feat considering it's a free-to-play game and all of that money came from in-app purchases.

By comparison, PUBG brought in $103 million, with most of that being attributed to the one-off purchase of the game itself, reports The Verge. While PUBG does offer in-app purchases, Bluehole hasn't mechanised the model as much as Epic, which rolls out new skins and emotes with each new season, as well event-specific items, like the recent Spring It On with its St. Patrick's Day-themed hero and rewards.

Battle Royale’s Players Helped Epic Find Fortnite’s Voice

Before Fortnite Battle Royale became the 40-million-plus players, live-streamed-by-Drake phenomenon it is today, Epic Games treated the competitive mode and its original with a more serious-minded tone.

But a certain player benchmark, and a realization of the excitement players had while playing Fortnite, caused a huge tonal shift in how Epic marketed its Battle Royale mode, and the game as a whole.

Speaking at GDC in a panel titled “Fortnite: An Unconventional Launch,” Ed Zobrist, head of publishing at Epic Games for Fortnite, Spyjinx, and Fortnite: Battle Royale touched on the surprising aspects of both the original and Battle Royale launches of Fortnite.

The Giant Monsters That Have Come Closest to Destroying the World

As John Boyega and the rest of our heroes prepare to battle the big baddies of Pacific Rim Uprising, we thought it would be a good time to take stock of just how well the Earth has fared when facing the giant monsters of the past.

The kaiju genre has a long and venerable tradition, stretching all the way back to one particular giant monster in the ’30s (King Kong), through the atomic-irradiated nightmare of the ’50s (Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, Them!, Godzilla, and so on), all the way up to the CGI-generated enormous apparitions of the present day (Cloverfield, Pacific Rim, Colossal). But which of these huge hulking brutes actually came closest to destroying the planet? That’s hard to say, but we can nominate a few possibilities…

Why Ubisoft Hasn’t Reworked Rainbow 6 Siege’s ‘Lord Tachanka’

Speaking at GDC today, Rainbow Six Siege game director Leroy Athanassof addressed one of the game’s least picked operators, Tachanka, and the possibility of a rework. Athanassof said Ubisoft knows he’s in a bad place strength-wise, but that his cult meme status within the community has stopped them from reworking him yet.

Tachanka, or Lord Tachanka as much of the community refers to him, has become one of Siege’s most prominent memes. He's also potentially the worst operator in the roster, sporting both microscopic pick and win rates in the last competitive season.
