Netflix’s Maniac Looks Like a Trippy New Adventure

Maniac is Netflix's strange new series from the minds of writer Patrick Somerville (24: Live Another Day) and director Cary Fukunaga (True Detective).

Former Superbad co-stars Emma Stone and Jonah Hill reunite, with veteran actors Sally Feild and Justin Theroux rounding out the cast. For a better look at Maniac, scroll through the slideshow below:

Little is known about the series, except that Stone and Hill are "two strangers who find themselves caught up in a mind-bending pharmaceutical trial gone awry," according to Netflix's synopsis.

One thing is for sure, the team behind this trippy-looking series is top-notch. Somerville might not have the name recognition that Fukunaga does, but he's written some quality television, working on shows like HBO's The Leftovers and FX's The Bridge. Maniac will be Fukunaga's first directing gig since his critically acclaimed work on Netflix's Beasts of No Nation, starring Idris Elba.

Fate of the Furious Director to Helm MASK for Paramount and Hasbro

The Fate of the Furious director F. Gary Gray will helm a M.A.S.K. film adaptation, based on the 1980s Kenner action figures.

Deadline reports Gray will direct the film, which doesn't have a release date yet, for Hasbro and Paramount. A new writer will soon be brought on board to craft a story with a youth empowerment angle. Hasbro and Gray are producing the project, according to Deadline.

M.A.S.K. stands for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand and centers on the titular task force and its fight against the evil V.E.N.O.M, a.k.a. the Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem. The property spawned an animated series and a few comics as well.

Rick and Morty Made the Most Random Cameo

In what was perhaps the result of one of their most bizarre adventures yet, Rick and Morty found their way into the world of My Little Pony.

The reality-hopping duo was spotted by Reddit user Roxopenguim in the background of a recent My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic episode. Both characters are seen with their signature hairstyles, while Pony Rick sports his unibrow, lab coat, and a science-themed cutie mark.

Perhaps even more bizarre than the unexpected cameo is the title of the children's series' latest episode in which the characters appeared, "Grannies Gone Wild."

DICE Reportedly Prototyping Battle Royale Mode for Battlefield V

DICE is reportedly protoyping a battle royale mode for Battlefield V.

According to an anonymous source from VentureBeat, the potential mode would feature mechanics similar to Fortnite and PlayerUnkown's Battlegrounds, where 100 players battle each other until there's only one player or team left standing.

The studio is allegedly looking into how it could make such a mode work with Battlefield V's mechanics. The report also states that even if DICE is satisfied with what it has, the mode won't be ready in time for Battlefield V's launch this fall.

Steven Spielberg’s DC Comics Movie Blackhawk Explained

DC fans have another new movie to look forward to, thanks to the news that Steven Spielberg will produce and possibly direct a Blackhawk movie. This means one of the oldest heroes in comics is returning to the big screen -- yes, he's been there before! -- and under the guiding hand of one of the world's most beloved filmmakers no less.

If you're not familiar with Blackhawk or his team of elite fighter pilots, worry not. Here's everything you need to know about the latest DC hero to get the blockbuster treatment.

Blackhawk is one of the finest pilots ever to take to the skies in the DC Universe, a mysterious hero known to most people only by his codename. After losing his family in World War II, this Polish Air Force officer swore vengeance against the Axis powers and formed a squad of like-minded fighter pilots called the Blackhawks. These heroes helped turn the tide of the war and became legends the world over. They continued to fight for freedom and justice after the war ended, building a legacy that survives into the present-day DCU.

Wave Race Producer Teases Series’ Possible Return

If a recent tease from Wave Race producer Shinya Takahashi is any indication, Nintendo's jet ski racing franchise may see a revival on Switch.

"You may see that game again," Takahashi told Fandom at the 2018 BAFTAs when asked about the possibility of Wave Race coming to the console. "We have been trying to make many games and that may be one of them... I personally love Wave Race!"

It has been quite some time since Nintendo has released a new entry in the Wave Race franchise. The series made its debut on Game Boy in 1992 and a sequel followed in 1996 on Nintendo 64. The third, and most recent entry in the series, titled Wave Race: Blue Storm, was released for GameCube in 2001.

Bendis’ New Superman Villain Reveals a Twist We’ve Already Seen

DC’s Action Comics #1000 is an 80-page anthology of Superman stories by different creative teams done in order to celebrate the impressive landmark, but it also includes the first taste of Brian Bendis’ upcoming run on Superman. The 12-page story drawn by Jim Lee and titled “The Truth” introduces a new villain who has a significant personal connection to the Man of Steel, although the twist isn’t exactly original.

Warning: full spoilers ahead!

The issue starts with Superman and Supergirl fighting an alien warrior named Rogol Zaar across Metropolis. Zaar has a big axe that fires off energy blasts, a half-disfigured face with rotted green flesh (Kryptonite poisoning, perhaps?), and a skull on his belt buckle. He’s pretty much bad news all-around, shrugging off every attack thrown at him and eventually batting Supergirl away and pinning Superman down so he can deliver a truth bomb: he not only knew Superman’s father Jor-El, but he destroyed Krypton.
