Microsoft Hiring With a Focus on First-Party AAA Exclusives
Microsoft job listings suggest the company is turning its focus towards developing AAA exclusive titles for its console.
The listing is for a principal program manager in Santa Monica, and the candidate will be tasked with growing "internal studio talent" and working to help build a "new franchise."
It also calls for experience "shipping high quality titles at AAAA standards" (that's a direct quote - it's unclear if it's intentionally worded that way) and a "knowledge and understanding of the process of building new IP."
Microsoft has drawn criticism for its lack of first-party titles in the past. At the end of last ear, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said that Microsoft would be investing in studios to make more first-party games. Spencer said that the renewed focus on first-party exclusives would involve either buying or creating new development studios.

Rainbow Six Siege: New Characters, Map, Tweaks Announced
Rainbow Six Siege is getting two new Defenders and a new map in the Year Three Season Two update, Operation Para Bellum.
Ubisoft describes the map as the "most competitive" to date, which will arrive alongside two new Italian Defenders. It seems likely that the new operators are the two characters allegedly leaked earlier this year.
Season Two will bring new gadget intel with it, as well as buffs to the Clubhouse map and Echo operator, and the new Pick & Ban system, in addition to a few other tweaks and fixes.

I can't imagine a better day.
The #Witcher writers' room opened today, and it was full of ideas and banter and cupcakes and creativity and darkness and champagne and this hilarious picture that's better than any of the posed group selfies I attempted.

Speaking to Kotaku in the wake of its announcements about the Nintendo Switch online service, a company spokesperson said: "There are currently no plans to bring classic games together under the Virtual Console banner as has been done on other Nintendo systems."
It's important to note that while it may be abandoning the Virtual Console brand, Nintendo isn't saying that it will abandon re-releases.

Deadpool 2 Originally Featured Wade Wilson as a Dad
The Merc with a Mouth was originally going to be a father in Deadpool 2, but Wade Wilson's shenanigans made it too complicated.
"The genesis of it was 'What if Deadpool had a child?' Like, what if we started five years later and what would that be like?" Reynolds told EW. "By page 1.5, it was totally untenable. We were just like, ‘Nope. Nope. No, no, no. This is never, ever going to work.'"
Reynolds co-wrote the sequel with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. After figuring out the dad angle wasn't quite right, they decided to make the story about wanting a family but being unable to have one. "We went back to the drawing board and kind of reworked it in a way about wanting to have a child, which is something that so many people I know experience on a daily basis — wanting to have a child but can’t.”
