What Nintendo Switch Online Could Mean for the Future of Virtual Console

After months of silence, Nintendo has finally confirmed that Virtual Console — a service that offers a variety of classic games from previous console generations — will not be coming to Switch. But that doesn’t mean Nintendo plans to stop offering classic games digitally. Instead, for now, Nintendo plans to launch its new online service with a series of 20 classic NES games, with new games added regularly. As a Nintendo representative told IGN, “There are a variety of ways in which classic games from Nintendo and other publishers are made available on Nintendo Switch, such as through Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online, Nintendo eShop or as packaged collections.”

Valve Tries Its Hand at Battle Royale with Dota 2’s The Underhollow

Dota 2's International 2018 Battle Pass is here, bringing with it an all-new Battle Royale inspired game mode.

The Underhollow is a brand new game mode available to owners of the International 2018 Battle Pass that'll be available sometime soon. Since the mode is tied to the Battle Pass, it's likely it'll only be playable so long as the Battle Pass is active, much like the two-part Siltbreaker campaign that came with last year's Battle Pass.

EA Made $5.1 Billion in 2018, Anthem Still on Track for 2019 Release

Electronic Arts reported its fiscal year 2018 revenue at over $5.1 billion USD, a record-breaking year for the game-maker. That figure represents an increase of about $305 million over EA's FY2017 numbers.

EA credits its financial success for 2018 to expanding reach of its "leading franchises" including FIFA, Battlefield and The Sims, "to more players across more platforms and geographies."

The supplemental information accompanying EA's investor call is a little confusing, since its fiscal year ends on April 30. In a slide showing off release schedules for upcoming games, Battlefield is listed as Q3 and Anthem is listed as Q4, but those are EA's fiscal quarters. That means Anthem is still on track for a calendar-year Q1 release.

Could Ant-Man, Wasp, and Captain Marvel Come to Fortnite?

Epic’s Fortnite just ascended to a new level of popularity. For a limited time, players of the game’s Battle Royale mode will have the opportunity to play as Thanos from Avengers: Infinity War, complete with his mighty Infinity Gauntlet and all six of the powerful Infinity Stones. For a full guide on how to get Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet in Fortnite, check out our wiki here.

The fact that this crossover is happening in the first place does more than show the power of Fortnite. Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo openly admit to being massive fans of the online shooter, citing it as the game they would play during breaks from editing the film before they up and called Epic’s creative director Donald Mustard to make this a reality. And in doing so, the brothers may have begun an interesting future between Marvel Studios and Epic. Currently, the brothers have a lot of clout thanks to their work on the Captain America sequels and the two Infinity War films. Since they’re the ones who managed to get Thanos in the game in the first place, and depending on how the Thanos event shakes out, it wouldn’t entirely be surprising if Epic were allowed for similar crossovers with other upcoming films in the MCU.

Why the Future of Spider-Man Looks So Amazing

Writer Dan Slott has been at the helm of Mavel Comics' Amazing Spider-Man series since 2010, and even longer if you count his tenure as one of the series' rotating writers during the Brand New Day era. That's a tough act to follow for new series writer Nick Spencer, who is taking over with artist Ryan Ottley. Complicating matters further for Spencer, there's a lingering stigma surrounding his most recent Marvel project, Secret Empire, better known as the Hydra Cap debacle. But despite the factors working against them, Spencer and artist Ottley have already proven they're just the team to kick off a new era for Spider-Man.

The recent FCBD: Amazing Spider-Man comic established a new status quo for Peter Parker as he struggles to balance his superhero responsibilities with the need to find a new apartment and roommate. It's a familiar setup for the character, especially considering how different his life was just a short year ago before the events of Secret Empire brought a swift end to his time as a billionaire industrialist. But however much readers may be accustomed to a down-on-his-luck Peter Parker, it's a setup that plays directly to Spencer's strengths as a Spider-Man writer.

Valve Releases Dota Compendium Information Following Penguin Kidnap Meme

Dota 2's subreddit started a penguin kidnapping meme to coax information about this year's International Compendium out of Valve.

Each year before Dota 2's biggest tournament, The International, Valve releases a purchasable pass, known as a Compendium (or Battle Pass), that gives players access to a wide range of bonus cosmetics, items, and features related to that year's event. Valve has teased this year's Compendium, but Dota 2 fans, fed up with the long wait for information, have taken drastic measures on the game's subreddit.

Tarantino’s Charles Manson Movie Casts Kurt Russell, Tim Roth and More

The cast for Quentin Tarantino's next film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, continues to grow.

Deadline reports Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, and Michael Madsen are in talks to play small roles in the movie. The trio starred in Tarantino's last film, 2015's The Hateful Eight. It's not currently known who they'll play in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Burt Reynolds is also in negotiations to portray George Spahn, an 80-year old nearly blind man whose LA ranch was used as the location for Westerns. Spahn's ranch was also home to Charles Manson and his followers in the months leading up to the murder of Sharon Tate and six others.

The Tick Gets a Costume Upgrade in Season 2 First Look

After facing off with The Terror in Season 1, The Tick (Peter Serafinowicz) and Arthur (Griffin Newman) are bound for new adventures and (hopefully) new spoons in Season 2 - and the Wild Blue Yonder is getting a costume upgrade to go along with his shiny new season.

IGN has an exclusive first look at The Tick and Arthur from Season 2, which has just started filming in New York. The streamlined look seems to combine the shape and color of the original live-action series' costume with the textured version that was initially tested in Amazon's pilot, creating a less bulky iteration that should allow the Blue Avenger to dispense justice and offer swift kicks to the crotch of villainy for many episodes to come.
