Marvel and DC Copy Each Other’s New Villains

To say that Marvel Comics and DC Comics have a habit of copying each other is a bit of an understatement. There are countless examples from over the years where one company either paid homage, took inspiration from, or downright ripped off an idea from the other, like how Marvel’s Thanos and Deadpool were copies of DC’s Darkseid and Deathstroke, respectively. However, this copycat thing was taken to a whole new level when, last week, both publishers essentially introduced the same villains for their flagship teams in the exact same way.

Warning: spoilers ahead for The Avengers #1 and DC Nation #0!

Last week was the biggest of the year for comics because Saturday was Free Comic Book Day. Comic publishers know that shops will be flooded with readers both new and old, so they put out their best stuff to catch their attention. Last Wednesday saw the release of The Avengers #1 that featured a new team of Avengers assembling to fight 2000-foot tall “Dark Celestials” aka evil space gods. And on FCBD, DC released a sampler platter-style comic called DC Nation #0 that included three short stories about the Joker, Superman, and the Justice League, the latter of which saw the heroes (and some villains) rally together to fight gargantuan “Omega Titans” aka evil space gods.

10 Best Daredevil Comics and Graphic Novels

Daredevil isn’t the flashiest hero in Marvel’s canon, which might be part of the appeal. He’s a street-level hero who still operates at very much the level of a real superhero, mixing some low-level super powers with legal acumen, a billy club, and good old fashioned Irish Catholic boxing. He’s also been fortunate to have some of the most consistently excellent writing at Marvel Comics over the years.

Here are the best Daredevil reads that you should check out.

And for more comics fun, check out our video on how Avengers: Infinity War finally gave us the true Doctor Strange from the comics:

Uber Releases Details on Flying Taxi

Uber has released more information about its concept fleet of flying taxis the company started talking about last year.

Wired reports the rideshare company has given some idea of the flying vehicle they're hoping will ease transport congestion by moving some traffic to the skies.

The concept 'Common Reference Model' for these sky taxis will seat four passengers with one pilot in single file on a slender electric powered plane.

Two sets of wing-like supports branch out either side and are joined by battery pods midway with sit stacked rotors held furthest from the main body.

New Nintendo Switch Stand Makes Charging Easier in Tabletop Mode

Nintendo is making life a little easier for Nintendo Switch owners who enjoy playing in Tabletop mode.

An official adjustable charging stand for the Switch is launching on the 13th of July, which will allow players to charge their Switch while playing in Tabletop mode - something that was previously impossible due to the bottom edge location of its USB-C port (er...unless you owned a third-party stand).

Google Chrome Update Breaks Audio in Hundreds of Web-Based Games

Google Chrome's latest update had good intentions, but it's also had the unfortunate side-effect of removing audio from web-based games.

The update - outlined here - stops videos from autoplaying with sound. This is great for annoying autoplaying ads, but as Kotaku picked up, it's broken a bunch of web-based games by silencing their audio.

Creator of Getting Over It Bennett Foddy tweeted that the update is "a disaster for games and audio art on the web", while Stephen's Sausage Roll's Stephen Lavelle said that the update " broke all of the audio in my html5 games as well."

Infinity War Originally Featured This Long-Awaited Reunion

The initial draft for Avengers: Infinity War included a long-awaited reunion between two characters, but the scene ultimately didn't make it into the final script.

Warning: Avengers: Infinity War spoilers follow.

Screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely originally wanted to include a scene where Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) are reunited and confront the lingering discord between the two of them from Civil War. "Our first sort of wonky draft

the idea that they had to get back in the same room together and deal with that," McFeely told Yahoo Entertainment.
