Senate Votes to Restore Net Neutrality

The United States Senate has voted to overturn the FCC repeal of Net Neutrality with a vote of 52 for to 47 against.

Democrats secured a victory by utilizing the Congressional Review Act, which gives Congress 60 legislative days to undo a federal agency regulation and allows a repeal with a simple majority, instead of the 60 vote threshold required for most legislation.

Although this is a victory for Net Neutrality advocates, the repeal still needs to pass the House of Representatives. President Donald Trump then would need to sign the resolution to complete the process. Even if the resolution fails at either of those points, however, over 24 states are considering legislation to grant those protections, and Washington has already become the first state to turn that legislation into law.

Pennyworth TV Show: Batman Prequel Series in the Works from Gotham Boss at Epix

Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller is developing a TV series centered on Bruce Wayne's butler, Alfred Pennyworth.

Epix has given a 10-episode straight-to-series for the show, simply titled Pennyworth. It won't be a Gotham spin-off, but rather its own story focusing on Alfred's origins as a former British SAS soldier. Production will begin later this year, with the series slated to premiere in 2019. Heller will serve as executive producer and writer, while Danny Cannon (Gotham) will also executive produce and direct the pilot.
