Crackdown Creator Downplays His Departure From Crackdown 3

When Microsoft announced Crackdown 3 all the way back at E3 2014, it touted the fact that series creator Dave Jones was returning to head up the project after being absent from Crackdown 2's development. However, it was revealed last week that Jones is no longer working on Crackdown 3, but he apparently doesn't think his departure is that big of a deal.

Jones' involvement was said to be crucial to Crackdown 3 development because his Reagent Games' Cloudgine cloud technology was powering the impressive environmental destruction that's been positioned as one of the game's main selling points. But Jones recently chatted with GamesIndustry.biz about leaving the project, saying it amounts to "not a lot basically."

The Sentry #1 Review

STL084332

Written by Jeff Lemire | Drawn by Kim Jacinto

"The Sentry is a great character that Marvel has never seemed quite to know what to do with over the long term. He's a character very much out of sync with the rest of the Marvel Universe, which is both the source of his appeal and storytelling woes. But that's not stopping Marvel from giving the Golden Guardian of Good his own ongoing series at long last, one that's shaping up to be a solid addition to the Fresh Start lineup." -Jesse

The Last of Us 2 is Great – But There’s Still a Way to Go for LGBTQ Representation in Games

I joked about the lesbian sex scene in Mass Effect 3 to anyone who would listen at the time, whooped about it as if it was the novelty porn my flatmates and I had watched in our first shared apartment. I thought it would be a scene I cringed through, a cynical product of my calculated romance option selections set deep in the Uncanny Valley. As it began, though, it hit me that I was watching an actual lesbian sex scene in a video game, between two characters I had grown to care about over a long period, whose relationship felt important to me. It felt too big to laugh at.

That was 2012. The Mass Effect trilogy was the first experience I had with LGBTQ characters in a video game since my grandma bought me a Gameboy in 1990. Nothing has measured up to that experience for me since, and of course, nothing could. It was revelatory to me in the way late-‘90s queer films like But I’m a Cheerleader were -- my palms sweating, clutching the side of the couch and furtively glancing at the door in case my parents came in.
