What Happens When Voice Actors Aren’t Told What Game They’re Voicing

For a normal actor, knowing what your role is and what movie or show you’re in is just part of the process. It would be a little tough to act well if you’re not sure whether you’re a cowboy in a virtual theme park or an extra in a giant monster clash. Cissy Jones, a voice actor known for her roles as Delilah in Firewatch and Fury in the upcoming Darksiders 3, knows this all too well. One day, Jones was brought into a studio to record dialogue for a small part in an upcoming project she knew nothing about. Once there, the acting directors instructed her to play the role of a prostitute in various situations, including having her car stolen, being thrown out a window, and being burned alive.

How Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Introduces RPG Choices

It’s history. It’s set in stone. What’s done is done. These are all ways we have of saying that you can’t change the past - and while it’s true that the wheels of time grind ever forward, the team at Ubisoft Quebec is working incredibly hard to make sure that rigid line a lot more flexible in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey than it’s been in previous adventures.

Player choice is baked into the core of every aspect of Odyssey’s massive rendition of ancient Greece, furthering the series’ transformation into a full-fledged role-playing game after the initial introduction of RPG progression elements in Assassin’s Creed Origins. “We are really embracing the role-playing aspect of RPGs,” says Odyssey’s Creative Director Jonathan Dumont. “We are continuing that transformation.

Players in the Netherlands Can Now See Loot Box Contents for Dota 2 Before Purchasing

Valve has changed the way players in the Netherlands interact with loot boxes, possibly in a method to appease complaints by the Netherlands Gaming Authority earlier this year that found Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in violation of its Betting and Gaming Act, according to GamaSutra.

A user on Reddit noticed the new system in Dota 2 and that it shows players exactly what in-game gear is held within their loot box purchase. Dutch players are still unable to use the Steam Marketplace, despite this change.

No Man’s Sky NEXT Update Erasing Some Players’ Save Files

The No Man's Sky NEXT update has added many improvements to the game, including multiplayer and a third-person viewpoint, but it also appears to be causing some players' save files to be erased.

Reported and tested by Kotaku, this problem appears to be affecting all platforms. Upon launching No Man's Sky, some players are seeing their save file and hours played but are sent back to the beginning when they load their game, with all their progress lost.

Loading from a previous auto-save or manual save does not appear to solve this issue either.

New Superman Villains Win By Not Fighting Him At All

Most Superman villains are powerhouses who can go toe-to-toe with the Man of Steel. Doomsday, Zod, Brainiac, Lex Luthor in his mech suit -- you know the type. But there’s a new breed of evil, introduced in Action Comics #1001 by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Patrick Gleason, that seeks to commit crimes not by going through Superman but by operating right under his nose.

Warning: full spoilers ahead!

There have been a series of fires throughout Metropolis started by a mysterious arsonist. Normally, Superman can easily spot clues to such crimes by using his super senses, but he can’t figure out who is behind these fires or how they’re starting them without his knowledge. As you can imagine, he’s become frustrated with this case and he’s starting to take it personally. He’s even started asking random criminals he catches -- like a couple of goons who tried to rob LexCorp -- if they have any info, just because he has literally nothing to go on.
