Fortnite Season 6 Downtime and Patch Information Detailed
Epic has detailed the release date and time of the launch of Season 6 set for tomorrow.
Season 5 will conclude at 1am PST on September 27 and downtime for the 6.00 patch will begin immediately after. As soon as downtime begins, Epic will release patch notes detailing new additions and any other changes coming to Fortnite.
In previous seasons, downtime between updates typically lasted an hour, but updates between seasons are typically longer.
Any replays saved before the update will rendered useless after downtime concludes. Outfits with unlockable styles from the Season 5 battle pass can still be unlocked in Sesaon 6 as long as the skins were unlocked prior to the new season.
Fortnite: Epic Confirms Merging in Wake of Sony Cross-Play
Epic Games has announced it's working on an account-merging solution for those who've created multiple accounts to play Fortnite on different platforms.
In a post on the official Fortnite Twitter account, Epic announced it is working on "an account-merging feature to combine Battle Royale purchases," as well as "enabling unlinking a console from one Fortnite account, and relinking to another Fortnite account."
The ability to unlink a console and relink to a different account will arrive within "a few days," while account merging is set to arrive sometime in November.
This news from Epic comes hot off the heels of Sony's announcement that PS4 will now support cross-platform play for Fortnite, starting with an open beta that begins today.
Experience a New Canon Star Wars Story in Vader Immortal
At Oculus Connect 5, Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series was announced for the Oculus Quest and will be a three-part series that will debut in 2019.
A short teaser was revealed that you can see below and begins by a woman saying "there is something wrong captain. I need you in the cockpit now."
The crew was pulled out of hyperspace over Mustafar and the video cuts to Darth Vader's Castle and his iconic breathing shortly follows.
Darth Vader then asks, "You may wonder why I have brought you here?"
The teaser ends with what appears to be a first-person lightsaber battle against a robotic enemy, hinting at what players can expect when they see this tale unfold themselves.
Fortnite Is so Big It Can Bully Sony and Nintendo
Fortnite is undeniably one of the biggest games in the world, but today we saw an example of just how big it is. Sony’s long-standing (and, frankly, embarrassing) stance against cross-play with other consoles is finally coming to an end, and Fortnite is pretty much leading the charge.
Developer Epic Games has been vocal in the past about wanting Sony to embrace cross-play (alongside developers like Psyonix and Bethesda), and actually accidentally enabled the feature briefly last year. Sony even caused a big headache for Epic during Fortnite’s launch on Switch as players who had previously played on PS4 discovered their accounts couldn’t carry over – an issue Sony didn’t have much to say about at the time.
Original Shenmue Developer Complains About Re-Release Bugs
“As a developer on the original games, the last thing I wanted for the re-release
is for them to be worse than the originals,” Sega’s Eigo Kasahara said during IGN Japan’s Tokyo Game Show 2018 live stream.
Sadly, that is pretty much what happened with the Western release of Shenmue I & II. The game released for PS4/Xbox One/PC (Steam) on August 21 in North America and Europe, and while it received generally favorable reviews and positive fan feedback, the port was far from perfect. Sega released a day-one-patch, but Shenmue I & II still suffered from numerous bugs, including sound and graphics glitches, cutscenes not playing correctly, swapped button issues, training progress not being saved and much more.
