First Gears Pop! Gameplay Revealed

The Coalition has provided a first look at Gears Pop! gameplay, which offers a condensed real-time strategy experience with a few special Gears of War touches.

Revealed in a developer video, you can watch a single PvP match between studio head Rod Fergusson and lead game designer Tyler Bielman. Though a “soft” launch is coming soon, a wide release of the game will come sometime in 2019 for iPhones and Androids.

“The object of the game is to play out your units and push forward and take down the outposts and the leader at the opposite end of the field,” said Bielman.

You progressively take cover attempting to get to the other end of the field: destroying an enemy outpost at the other end will net you a single point. A power bar at the bottom of the screen fills up in discrete segments, with each unit costing a certain ammount of these segments to play.

Ever since 1902's A Trip to the Moon, directed by Georges Méliès, writers and directors have sought to transfer their exciting hot takes on mankind's ultimate fate to the big screen. Now, in a version of our world that's not only given us a sequel to Blade Runner but also an actual continuation of the Star Wars saga, we've scooped up the 25 best sci-fi films for your approval/outrage.

Our selection process? Well, aside from being just a great piece of moviemaking, the top 25 entries required a significant impact on the genre, stories and ideas that raised the bar on what good storytelling can be, pop culture reaction, originality, and Editor's Choice. Also, a movie can't just be dystopian to be sci-fi, so unfortunately you'll find no Green Place - er - Fury Road in these parts.

Nvidia Admits Some RTX 2080 Ti Boards Are Defective

Over the past few weeks there have been reports of Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti cards dying in myriad ways, and now Nvidia has admitted in its forums that there is a problem. In a post, the company states, "Limited test escapes from early boards caused the issues some customers have experienced with RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition. We stand ready to help any customers who are experiencing problems."

Based on my understanding of what a "test escape" is, it basically means when they were testing parts for their boards early in the manufacturing process some components that were faulty "escaped" past their certification process, meaning bad parts made it all the way through to final construction. This could be transistors, capacitors, RAM modules, and so forth.
