The Many Shared Universes of Robin Hood

It seems like Hollywood never stops churning out new Robin Hood movies -- the latest is out this week, starring Taron Egerton. But can you blame studios for returning to that well over and over? Not only is Robin Hood one of the most recognizable heroes in the Western world, the fact that he exists in the public domain means anyone can take a crack at the character.

One interesting side effect of this is that a number of movies and TV series have featured characters crossing paths with Robin Hood; basically, he shares a lot of universes with a bunch of our favorite characters. So with the new movie hitting, we thought it would be fun to spotlight the most noteworthy examples of this phenomenon. To be clear, we're mostly focusing on cases where other pop culture characters actually met Robin Hood (or a version of him), not where they play-act as Robin and his Merry Men (with one weird exception). Read on for all the characters who have joined forces with Robin Hood!

Hearthstone: See a Brand New Rastakhan’s Rumble Card

Rastakhan’s Rumble is almost upon us, and the set is shaping up to be a huge amount of fun. The broad theme takes us to the Gurubashi Arena (which World of Warcraft players on the Horde side would be familiar with), and to a contest presided over by Rastakhan, king of the Zandalari, and ruler of the great troll empire. Long story short, it's an excuse for trolls and other warriors to battle it out for glory.

Each class has its own “team”, and these are centred around their “Loa” or beastly deities. Rogue, for instance, are known as Gral’s Sharks, named after their Loa - Gral, the Shark. Each Loa is a legendary minion and accompanied by a Spirit that strengthens what that Loa is attempting to do. The Rogue companion card, Spirit of the Shark, obviously works well the turn before Gral, allowing you to trigger its battlecry twice, not to mention playing into the many great battlecry and combo cards in the game.
