Hellboy Creator Mike Mignola on How the Reboot Is Bringing the Comics to Life

The upcoming Hellboy reboot is pulling directly from the comics like never before, according to the character’s creator Mike Mignola. While talking to IGN, Mignola shared that while he’s officially credited as an executive producer, he’s also contributing to the story and acting as a general consultant to the filmmakers to make sure they capture the spirit of his comics. The side-by-side image below is a perfect example of how closely the comics are being adapted in the new movie.

The Best Transformers Story Ever Explores Endless War and Brutal Politics

If you buy something through this post, IGN may get a share of the sale. For more, read our Terms of Use.

Transformers is a franchise that calls to mind some specific images: neon plastic toys, cheapy animated Saturday morning cartoons, hair-band power anthems of the ‘80s, Michael Bay explosions and raunch -- you get the idea. Whether your nostalgia buttons are pushed by the originals or you can remember crunching through a bucket of popcorn for the live-action movies, chances are you don't need someone to explain what Transformers are or what the basics of their story involve. Autobots, fearless heroes; Decepticons, evil villains. Endless war, alien planets, a list of glowing MacGuffins a mile long, and so on and so on. It's pop entertainment in its most basic form -- mindless at best and silly at worst.

Doom Patrol TV Series Reveals First Look at Cyborg

Titans debuts its Season 1 finale today, and DC Universe is already looking ahead to its second live-action series - revealing the premiere date for Doom Patrol in a new teaser trailer. The Titans spinoff will premiere the first episode of its 13-episode freshman season on February 15, 2019.

The teaser - which has an adorable "awkward family photo" theme - gives us our first look at Joivan Wade as Cyborg, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, and Timothy Dalton as Dr. Niles Caulder/The Chief. Matt Bomer's Negative Man, Brendan Fraser's Robotman, and April Bowlby's Elasti-Woman made their debut in episode 4 of Titans (which we called one of the strongest episodes of the season), while Dr. Caulder was played by Bruno Bichir, before Dalton was cast in the role.

Aquaman Post Credits Scene Explained

Aquaman, like a tidal wave, has crashed into theaters, telling the story of Arthur Curry’s battle for the throne of Atlantis. The film’s post credits scene provides an ominous glimpse at what threats Arthur may be facing in the sequel. We’re going to break down what those threats are, but before we dive in, know that we’re going to be wading into spoilery waters, so consider yourself warned.

Full SPOILERS ahead for the after credits scene of Aquaman! You've been warned ...

The mid-credits scene opens on a coastal shack belonging to Randall Park’s Doctor Stephen Shin, a marine biologist who appears throughout the film on TV news programs arguing that the kingdom of Atlantis actually exists because apparently, Aquaman’s fame post-Justice League wasn’t good enough to convince people. Before long, it’s revealed that Shin has a house guest: Black Manta, who we assume was rescued by Doctor Shin after being defeated by Arthur in Sicily. Manta wakes up and Doctor Shin immediately peppers him with questions about his encounters with Aquaman and Mera. The two strike a bargain - a squid pro quo if you will - for Manta to lead Shin to Atlantis in return for Shin’s help killing Aquaman.

Bumblebee Producer on THAT Big Classic Easter Egg

Spoilers ahead for Bumblebee!

Bumblebee, the new prequel to the live-action Transformers movies, is chock full of 1980s Easter eggs and references to the '80s era it's set in, including simplified robot designs in line with their look from the original Generation 1 toy line.

But Bumblebee's biggest callback to the franchise's '80s origins is the Easter egg that Transformers fans have waited for the longest.

During a scene where human protagonist Charlie (played by Hailee Steinfeld) tries to muster the courage to dive off a cliffside into the Pacific Ocean to impress some local kids, her VW bug (in reality, the Autobot Bumblebee in disguise) starts blaring a song on its radio to motivate her.
