Gambit, X-Force, and Kitty Pryde Movies on Hold Until After Disney-Fox Merger

As fans may have suspected, the future of the X-Men franchise is in Disney's hands following the studio's impending acquisition of Fox - and that means all pending X-movies in development are on the backburner, according to X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner.

Speaking to reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour panel for FX's Legion, Donner confirmed that the future of Channing Tatum's Gambit and the rumored X-Force and Kitty Pryde movies are now dependent on Disney, and won't move forward until the studio says so.

This Is Why SpongeBob SquarePants Was at the Super Bowl Halftime Show

Following a petition from November after SpongeBob SquarePants creator, Stephen Hillenburg, died from ALS, the late cartoon creator was honored at the halftime show of Super Bowl 53 Sunday night.

The Change.org petition was originally created to have the popular Sweet Victory song from the TV show performed during the Super Bowl halftime show. The petition had over 1 million signatures at the time of the Super Bowl, but the song was not performed by the headliners Maroon 5 Sunday night.

The Metro Exodus Exclusivity Situation Is a Giant Mess

It’s been one week since you looked at me publisher Deep Silver announced that Metro Exodus would be removed from Steam and exclusively sold on the Epic Games Store, and boy has a lot happened since then. That decision made a lot of people mad right off the bat – I even argued that Epic’s store isn’t ready for all the exclusives it’s getting – but things have only gotten messier from there.

Over the last week, there have been a total of six public comments from people either at Deep Silver, Metro developer 4A Games, owner THQ Nordic, and a different THQ Nordic – as well as one from Valve. It’s been a busy week with a lot of confusing and conflicting statements, so here’s a breakdown of what happened in the order that it happened.

What Does Xbox Live on Switch & Mobile Actually Mean?

Earlier today, a seemingly accidental update to the GDC schedules indicated that Microsoft has been working on a cross-platform version of Xbox Live that stretches beyond Xbox consoles and PC. ‘Xbox Live coming to Nintendo Switch’ is certainly an exciting headline, but you probably don’t need to get all that excited about what it means. Yet.

Microsoft points out that the changes will “enable game developers to connect players between iOS, Android, and Switch in addition to Xbox and any game in the Microsoft Store on Windows PCs."

X-Men: Kitty Pryde Movie Still in Development According to Writer

Comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis claims the Kitty Pryde Spinoff X-Men film is still in development.

Revealed through Twitter in response to a fan question about the status of the film in the midst of the Disney/Fox merger, Bendis says that he is currently working on the film.
