Marvel’s Daredevil and Luke Cage Could Be Saved by Hulu

After Netflix's Marvel shows got cancelled this past year, Hulu has now voiced they are open to scooping them up and possibly reviving Daredevil and Luke Cage.

In an interview with TheWrap, Senior Vice President of Originals at Hulu, Craig Erwich, said they would be interested in any titles under the Marvel name.

"Marvel has a ton of titles we’d be interested in," Erwich said.

"It kind of just depends on when they’re ready,

who, most importantly, is going to be behind these things," he said.

Netflix cancelled three of its five Marvel TV shows in the past few months, including Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Leaving Jessica Jones with a third season coming out, and season two of The Punisher debuted last month without any announcement yet of a third season to follow.

Spider-Man PS4 Director Reflects on the Game’s Development

In a panel at DICE today, Insomniac's Ted Price and Bryan Intihar sat down to discuss the latter's history at the company.

Inevitably, some of that discussion veered onto the topic of the company's biggest hit, Spider-Man on PS4, for which Intihar was the creative director. On the way, we learned a few things about the game's development - here are the highlights:

There Were Originally Too Many Gold Trash Cans

While discussing how Intihar learned to provide feedback during production, he gave an unexpected example:

"Do you want to know how it started originally? With me screaming about gold trash cans animating. That we had too many gold trashcans in the F.E.A.S.T. shelter, because I thought that was a big detail. I was like: there cannot be gold trashcans in this. And there was a point where one of our old environment artists just started putting gold trashcans in screenshots and sending them to me."

Amy Hennig Feels There Will Be a ‘Revolution’ in How We Receive Game Content

During a DICE Summit 2019 conversation between Amy Hennig and Tim Schafer, Hennig discussed narrative in games, streaming, accessibility to a wider audience and more.

Hennig, best known for her work on Uncharted, spoke about her canceled Star Wars project with Visceral Games and making narrative games as a whole. "As much as we would all very much own the fact that we love to play these narrative games… these things that are very intentionally authored, structured like familiar stories from film or TV or theatre, and they’re by definition finite – it’s becoming harder and harder to make those games anymore,” said Hennig. “Partly because of business model, and cost of development, but I think it’s a shame."

Game of Thrones Showrunner Says Cersei Killed Ser Pounce

In a break from the show's custom of depicting deaths on-screen (and in keeping a lid on such things in the meantime), Game of Thrones showrunner David Benioff revealed that King Tommen’s cat (and Internet sensation) Ser Pounce is dead, having been killed off-screen in the time since he was last seen in Season 6.

And who could commit such a feline felony? Why, none other than the late king's sinister mom, Cersei Lannister.

“Cersei hated the name ‘Ser Pounce’ so much she could not allow him to survive," Benioff informed Entertainment Weekly. “So she came up with her most diabolical

PlayStation Exec Discusses What Sony Learned From PlayStation 3’s Missteps

During his DICE 2019 keynote speech, SIE Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden discussed the lessons Sony has learned in game development, including how missteps with PlayStation 3 led to changes with PlayStation 4.

In his Beyond Generations keynote, Layden discussed the three lessons Sony has learned in game development: quality above all, embrace new ideas, and people want to play.

When discussing quality above all, Layden said “PlayStation 2 was an industry triumph, it remains one of the best-selling consoles of all time. But coming off the heels of that, was PlayStation 3: a stark moment of hubris in the nearly 25 years of PlayStation history. As we sometimes call it, PS3 was our Icarus moment."
