No, That Love, Death & Robots Short Didn’t Use Live-Action

Love, Death & Robots transcends genres. It doesn’t want to be categorized, or appeal to niche markets. Instead, the broad appeal of Netflix’s animated anthology series ensures that there’s something for everyone. (Read our Love, Death & Robots review.)

For Tim Miller, creator and executive producer on Love, Death & Robots, this approach was a key aspect of the series’ development. It’s a vow that the show retains, and sits perfectly with the punchy, unconnected stories that Love, Death & Robots has brought to a wider audience.

“It really was designed to be something for everyone,” Miller told IGN, “which means a pretty broad spectrum of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and fantastic fiction. I think I chose a few more sci-fi ones because that’s where I lean a little more heavily, but we tried very hard to balance it.”

BioWare Responds to Report About Anthem Crunch, Working Conditions

Following an in-depth report published Tuesday by Kotaku on the challenges of creating Anthem, BioWare had declined to comment in the article itself but outlined its response in a blog post.

Kotaku added an update to their story shortly after publication, that a summary of bullet points of the story was sent over to BioWare previously, but that the blog post from BioWare was posted shortly after Kotaku had published their piece.

Kotaku's Jason Schreier outlines in his piece that dozens of veteran developers have left BioWare over the past couple of years, with many noting stress being a driving factor. Some from the Edmonton office touched specifically on mental health, with doctors allegedly forcing the employee(s) to take a mandated leave for weeks or months – something that was reportedly known around the office as, "stress casualties." Some people would come back after a few months, and others would not.

PlayerUnknown Doesn’t Want to Make PUBG 2

Brendan Greene, the PlayerUnknown in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, has recently discussed his decision to stop working directly on PUBG and how he doesn't see himself making PUBG 2 as, according to him, he's "done battle royale, it's time to try something else."

In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz at GDC, Greene opened up about how the last two years have been "an insane ride," with some highlights including the incredible success of PUBG, securing a temporary exclusive deal with Xbox, and changing the gaming landscape and paving the way for other battle royales like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout mode.

Is Avengers: Endgame Teasing a Weakened Thanos?

The newest Avengers sequel, Avengers: Endgame, is almost upon us. And between the new trailer and recent toy previews, we finally have a good idea of what Thanos looks like in the movie. Not only is the Mad Titan reverting back to his original armored look, but he's now wielding a nasty double-bladed weapon as well.

This "new" look for Thanos does raise an interesting question, however. Why does someone with access to the Infinity Gauntlet and its limitless powers need crude weapons? Shouldn't Thanos be above such concerns by now? It's possible that Thanos' gear reveals a lot about the character's physical and mental state in Endgame.

How Spider-Man Helped Me Through Loss and Grief in 2018

Growing up, I never fully connected to Spider-Man. As a kid, his fantastical adventures felt connected to extravagant, adult problems that I couldn’t quite relate to. But when he finally swung his way onto the PS4 last September and then again into theaters with Into The SpiderVerse, he clicked. It was like a blossoming explosion in my mind - I had finally understood the appeal of the character who I had known my whole life. It took the culmination of years of adult experience and even worse, a death in the family, for me to really see Spider-Man for what he truly is: a totem of the human experience, and a supportive guide for our journeys through hardship.

When Insomniac’s Spider-Man came out, my father was a week away from entering the hospital for what would eventually become palliative care. At first, I felt guilty that I was enjoying my time playing a video game to escape the sounds and smells of an ICU, but in his last days, my father explained something to me: as a child, he would buy me games like Spider-Man because he loved watching my imagination grow. If I took joy in a game, comic, book, or movie, that was enough for him to know my mind was blossoming and expanding. While he would rest at the hospital, I dove into Spider-Man PS4 and was absorbed back into the world of Peter Parker and Miles Morales. I took respite swinging through the New York City skyline, webbing crooks, collecting backpacks, and being a friendly neighborhood hero. I fell hard for Spider-Man.

Game of Thrones Teasers Show New Footage

HBO released three new teasers and a poster for Game of Thrones, showing off new footage of the eighth and final season in the process.

Warning: potential (mild) spoilers below.

The promotional teasers are officially called Together, Survival and Aftermath. Together and Survival are both 30-seconds long, and include a collection of shots paired with bits of voiceover. Aftermath is longer at one-minute and shows an abandoned Winterfell, presumably in the aftermath of the White Walker invasion. It’s likely this teaser isn’t fully comprised of footage from the season, and is rather meant as a tonal piece that paints a picture of a lost Winterfell.

No Man’s Sky Feels Like a Totally Different Game in VR

Since its launch, No Man’s Sky has always been about one thing: exploring its procedurally generated worlds, and discovering the secrets each planet has to offer. With a bevy of updates and patches, it has never been a better time to delve into the endless reaches of space than right now. But even with the steady flow of content and overall performance improvements that No Man’s Sky has seen since its rocky launch, there’s always been one feature that players have clamored for since the beginning, VR.

Now that we’re finally getting the long-anticipated feature, is it any good? I’m delighted to report, that yes, it’s exactly what I imagined these last couple of years. While there are a few moments of clunkiness, as with most VR experiences, No Man’s Sky seemed to be able to make the leap the virtual world better than most games.

When I Died on Game of Thrones: Why This Vague Death Scene Works So Well

In honor of the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, IGN is taking a look back at some of the iconic characters who've fallen along the way, and the lasting impact they had on the story. These heroes and villains may not have made it to the end of the road, but their lives weren't in vain - they stand as a fitting reminder that when you play the game of thrones, you win, or you die.

Syrio Forel only appeared in three episodes of Game of Thrones: Season 1, but his pivotal role is still being talked about years later -- in fact, theories about the fate of his character are alive and well, even as the show enters its final season. Arya Stark's "dancing master" helped set the stage for what would become one of Game of Thrones' most iconic arcs, seeing Arya follow in the footsteps of her Braavosi mentor to become not just a master swordswoman, but someone who frequently says "not today" to the God of Death.
