Toy Story 4: We Saw the Opening 17 Minutes at CinemaCon

Warning! Plot SPOILERS ahead for Toy Story 4!

Disney screened the first seventeen minutes of Toy Story 4 at CinemaCon on Wednesday, a sequence that showed legacy characters separated and new ones introduced.

The prologue takes place nine years before the events of the main narrative and recounts how Bo Peep ended up separated from the gang during the events of Toy Story 3.

It's a proverbially dark and stormy night when the toys stage a rescue mission to save RC. The toy car has been left outside in the rain and is about to get washed away when its fellow toys comes to its aid. Forming a human, er, toy chain, Woody is lowered down from a window in Molly's room and rescues RC just in time. But they're not out of danger yet.

Aladdin Remake’s Version of “Friend Like Me” Shown at CinemaCon

Disney unveiled new footage from their upcoming live-action remake of Aladdin at CinemaCon on Wednesday, including the film's version of the iconic "Friend Like Me" musical number.

What was immediately apparent is that, unlike Jon Favreau's upcoming Lion King remake, Aladdin doesn't appear to be quite as much of a shot-for-shot remake of the original animated film. (It should be noted the visual effects in the footage shown were not final.)

The shot selections and backgrounds of the new "Friend Like Me" scene were markedly different from the animated version; indeed, matching what animators did in that particular sequence and with a performer as wild as Robin Williams always seemed impossible. So the remake -- and new Genie actor Will Smith -- is definitely doing its own albeit familiarly energetic thing.

Lion King: CinemaCon Footage Revealed Remake’s Talking Animals

Disney screened footage of their new interpretation of The Lion King at CinemaCon on Wednesday, an almost shot-for-shot, line-for-line remake of the scene where Mufasa teaches young Simba about the circle of life.

Just as in the 1994 original, this version opens with a rambunctious young Simba (voiced by JD McCrary) waking up his parents and Mufasa (once again voiced by James Earl Jones) telling his wife Sarabi (voiced by Alfre Woodard) that before sunrise Simba is her son.

Everything plays out just as fans of the animated movie will remember, as Mufasa explains to Simba that everything the light touches is his kingdom and that one day it will all be Simba's.

And, of course, Mufasa goes on to explain how all animals -- even those who eat each other, as lions do antelopes -- are connected in the circle of life.

New Endgame Scenes Reveal Latest on Infinity Stones and Why Carol’s Been a No-Show

This article contains plot details about Avengers: Endgame! While Disney showed it to the press, some may nevertheless find the following details spoilerish.

Disney showed two scenes from Avengers: Endgame at CinemaCon on Wednesday, footage which revealed the status of the Infinity Stones and explains -- to a degree -- why Captain Marvel has been a no-show until now.

The first scene is set in Avengers headquarters and it’s the same scene from the trailer where Thor faces off with Captain Marvel. The footage opens mid-scene with Carol Danvers about to walk out on Cap, Banner, Natasha, Thor, Rhodey, Rocket and Nebula. No sign of Tony Stark or Scott Lang here. When asked where she’s going, Carol says matter-of-factly, “To kill Thanos.”

Wonder Woman 1984 Footage Shown at CinemaCon

Warner Bros. presented CinemaCon attendees with a look at footage from Wonder Woman 1984, only a few moments of which were new and the bulk of it the same as the shopping mall and street scenes shown at San Diego Comic-Con 2018. But its most notable new moment was the first glimpse at Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva, aka the villainess Cheetah.

The footage did not show Barbara in her Cheetah guise, though, but she still seemed in an unsettled state in the few shots shown. In a pre-recorded greeting to the attending theater owners, exhibitors, and press, director Patty Jenkins called Barbara "sometimes a friend, sometimes a colleague” of Diana Prince who “becomes Diana’s nemesis” along the way.

Respawn Fixes Apex Legends Progression Issue

Update 4/3: Developer Respawn Entertainment has released a fix for the progression issue that the 1.1 Update was causing players, and it’s now live on all platforms.

Posted on Reddit, Respawn says the issue was caused by players being unintentionally moved to the wrong servers that didn’t have their persistent data, and made it appear that player accounts were reset with all progression lost.

"Fortunately, your progress up until the update was still safe and sound,” reads the post. "We shut down all live servers so we could remove players from the wrong place and roll up the correct servers with your progress. Once we confirmed internally that we had fixed the issue we started rolling out the right servers starting with Xbox and staggered the updates to PS4 and PC."

How the Joker Trailer Makes Him More Like Batman

Many Batman fans argue the Joker shouldn't have an origin story. To them, the lingering mystery behind this villain's past and motivations is more compelling than any reveal ever could be. But like it or not, the Clown Prince of Crime is getting a brand new origin story this October thanks to DC's Joker movie from director Todd Phillips and star Joaquin Phoenix.

The first trailer for Joker gives us a better idea of both the tone of the film and the take that Phillips and Phoenix are applying to the character. And if there's one takeaway from this early footage, it's that this version of Joker is a whole lot like Batman.
