Tom Clancy Games ‘Changed Ubisoft’, Says CEO

When you think of Ubisoft, a few key franchises probably come to mind: Assassin’s Creed, Rayman, and Far Cry, for instance. For Ubisoft CEO and co-founder Yves Guillemot, however, it was the Tom Clancy brand (and subsequently dozens of Clancy games) that impacted Ubisoft the most.

“The first one that changed the lot of the company was Splinter Cell,” Guillemot said. “We went for the Xbox, and it was a complex bet, and a dangerous bet because they didn't have many machines

This Game of Thrones Casualty Took Down One of the Biggest Characters

In honor of the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, IGN is taking a look back at some of the iconic characters who've fallen along the way, and the lasting impact they had on the story. These heroes and villains may not have made it to the end of the road, but their lives weren't in vain - they stand as a fitting reminder that when you play the game of thrones, you win, or you die.

Olly's arc from a tragic, humble farm boy to a vengeful, mutinous member of the Night's Watch ended in a death that probably didn't leave many Game of Thrones viewers in mourning. From killing Ygritte to landing the fatal blow that killed Jon Snow, Olly's single-minded hatred for the Wildlings proved to be his undoing.

Days Gone: How Sony Bend Built the Horde

Since its debut in 2016, the centerpiece of Days Gone has been its massive hordes of decidedly-not-undead Freakers that fill the screen with hundreds of enemies, all hell-bent on catching (and devouring) you. Recently, I had the chance to visit Bend Studio in Oregon for a crash-course on the technology behind Days Gone’s open world, and (among other things) how the team was able to get so many creatures on screen at once without causing our PS4s to burst into flames.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Finally Has a Combat Record

Almost six months after its release, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 now has a Combat Record feature, although it is only accessible through the Call of Duty Companion app and website.

As reported by Eurogamer, the Combat Record feature is now live and allows you to check an impressive amount of stats in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, including such granular details as specific pieces of equipment and weapon attachments.

However, fans are upset that this feature is not available in the actual game itself, especially after a Reddit post by developer Treyarch that promised it would be added to the latest Call of Duty title.

AMC Greenlights New Walking Dead Series with Younger Leads

AMC has ordered a third series set in the Walking Dead universe, the cable network announced Monday.

Like Fear the Walking Dead, the untitled show is not being described as a spinoff of the original series but a separate story, which, according to AMC, will "feature two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad."

The new series will consist of 10 episodes and will be filmed in Virginia this summer for a 2020 premiere date (since the original show films in Atlanta and Fear the Walking Dead films in Austin, we probably shouldn't expect a crossover any time soon). Walking Dead writer Matt Negrete will serve as showrunner, and co-created the project with Scott Gimple, chief content officer of The Walking Dead universe.

Avengers: Endgame Directors Are “Very Committed to the Ending” of Infinity War

Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Avengers: Infinity War and the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, have discussed how they are "very committed to the ending” of Infinity War.

Discussing Endgame at a panel hosted by Iron Man director Jon Favreau (via GameSpot), Anthony Russo said that "We are very committed to the ending of that movie. We think that stories lose their meaning and relevance and resonance unless there are real stakes.”

“For us, moving into Endgame, the story is very much about how do these characters--how do these heroes--deal with loss?” he added. “Resounding loss, true loss, devastating loss--that's what they've experienced in Infinity War, and that was a unique experience for all of them. How does a person move forward from that moment? How does a hero move forward from that moment? The way we wrote it into the story is, How is everybody on an individual level dealing with that experience, and then how do they collectively deal with it?"

Randy Pitchford Responds to Borderlands Review Bombers

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has offered his take on the flood of negative Steam user reviews being posted on Borderlands games, which has occurred in the wake of Borderlands 3 being announced as an Epic Games Store exclusive.

Responding to Gearbox developer Scott Velasquez, who tweeted his feelings on Steam allowing people to misuse the reviews system for protest reasons, Pitchford commented that “this misuse makes me kind of happy about 2k’s decision”, referring to Borderland 3’s publisher’s decision to make the game an Epic Games Store exclusive for the first six months after launch.
