5 Things We Learned on the Men In Black: International Set
Last year, I got the chance to head to the Pinewood set of Men in Black: International. As someone who was unusually obsessed with the first film in particular, I came armed with questions.
Thankfully, in talking to cast and crew, I got my answers - from how this riffs and twists the buddy cop formula of the first three entries, to whether Will Smith will actually put in an appearance. Here's what I learned.
It’s Not a Reboot, But It Is Familiar
The inclusion of Emma Thompson’s O and the iconic New York MiB office makes it clear from the outset that International is a follow-on rather than a reboot, but it’ll be drawing on some familiar plot points to get us back into the Men In Black universe. Tessa Thompson’s M is the central figure here, a girl who witnessed an alien event and wasn’t properly neuralyzed, and grew up desperate to uncover and join the organisation that she saw that day. Upon finding them, she’s trained and sent on probation to the London office - and here’s where things get similar.
Opinion: The Hellboy Saga Is an Unprecedented Accomplishment
2019 has been a big year for the comic book industry as a whole. Conan the Barbarian returned to Marvel Comics. IDW completely rebooted the Transformers line. Major event comics like Heroes in Crisis and War of the Realms have ushered in major changes for their respective universes. But none of these developments can measure up to what Dark Horse Comics and creator Mike Mignola accomplished with the release of BPRD: The Devil You Know #15. This issue brought the entire Hellboy and BPRD saga to a close, capping off a story that began 25 years ago. It's difficult to understate how unique and impressive an accomplishment this is.
The Hellboy franchise as we know it began humbly enough with the release of Hellboy: Seed of Destruction #1. While that story featured an epic battle between good and evil and between the mortal realm and dark, Lovecraftian gods, there was little sense that readers were in for a journey that would ultimate span two and a half decades and hundreds of comics. Only in hindsight does it become obvious that Mignola was telling one mammoth story about a demon brought into the world to serve as its destroyer, only to instead become its redeemer at the end of all things.
Nintendo Has No Plan to Announce New Hardware at E3
Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa has said that the company has no plans to announce new hardware at E3 2019.
Talking at a Nintendo earnings event, Furukawa said that there was nothing to announce in regards to possible new hardware, according to tweets posted by Tokyo-based Reuters journalist, Sam Nussey. Furukawa did say that Nintendo is always developing hardware internally, however.
Furukawa’s statement comes after reports from Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal suggested that a new, cheaper version of the Nintendo Switch is planned to launch as early as June, as well as an upgraded version later in the year. While Nintendo’s official line does not directly refute these reports, it does suggest that even if these consoles are in the works, they won’t be revealed at E3.

Fortnite X Avengers: Endgame Event Goes Live Today
Epic Games has announced Fortnite: Endgame, the Avengers crossover event that launches today.
After days of teasing, a new trailer shows Thanos and his army of Chitauri walking across the Fortnite map, before a team of Fortnite characters turn up and take out one of the Titan’s troops with Captain America’s shield. The squad can be seen wielding Hawkeye’s bow, Thor’s Stormbreaker axe, and Iron Man’s repulsor gauntlets.
The update’s patch notes describes the event as a fight against Thanos and his army, who are tracking down the six Infinity Stones. Players are divided into two teams - Team Thanos and Team Heroes - and the mode supports respawning until specific conditions are met.
What We Learned About the MCU From the Avengers: Endgame Directors
The plot of Avengers: Endgame is possibly the most-guarded secret in Disney’s entire history. Well, aside from the location of Walt’s cryogenically frozen head, of course. And that’s with good reason: the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the biggest thing to happen in movies since the wizard boy with glasses, if not that train that supposedly caused a stampede in 1895. As such, no matter who you talk to about it, no one involved in the film’s production will tell you anything about it.
We recently interviewed Joe and Anthony Russo, the brothers on directing duties for the final film in the Infinity Saga, at press events in America and the UK. Understandably, they refused to tell us anything about their new film, which is simultaneously frustrating (as journalists, quotes are just a tiny bit vital) and brilliant (we’d like to see the film unspoilt, please).
WandaVision for Disney+ Reportedly Set in 1950s
According to Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, her upcoming Disney+ series titled WandaVision may be taking place in the 1950s.
Speaking to Variety, Olsen spoke about WandaVision and its inspiration and revealed that a photo may have given away what time period this new series may take place in.
"There’s quite a few other comic books that we’re pulling from and it’s going to be Wanda and the Vision, and I think at the Disney+ launch chat, they showed a photo of us in the ’50s,” Olsen says.
She also said that her and Paul Bettany, who plays Vision, are "really excited" and that WandaVision's story may only last a total of six hours and shooting is scheduled for this fall.
Mario Kart Tour Closed Beta Announced for Android
Nintendo is now accepting applications for the closed beta test of Mario Kart Tour on Android devices ahead of its release this Summer.
Android owners can sign up for the Mario Kart Tour closed beta by clicking here between April 23 and May 7 at 7:59pm PT/10:59pm ET. Nintendo does warn, however, that the number of participants will be limited and the lucky few may be chosen randomly if too many people sign up.
The closed beta is currently scheduled to run in Japan and the U.S. from May 22, 2019 through June 4, 2019 and Nintendo cautions these dates may change without any warning.
As of this writing, there is no word on if or when an iOS closed beta may happen, but fans can rest easy knowing the full game will arrive those devices.
Avengers Endgame: The Best Time to Use the Bathroom
The latest installment of the MCU is three hours and one minute long, which means you might be wondering when to pee during Avengers: Endgame. The average person pees six to eight times a day; some do it 10 times a day. Do the math and chances are you might need to pee (or poo) during this cinematic event you paid $15.50 to get into.
