Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the launch of PlayStation Productions, a production studio that will take Sony's catalog of video game titles and franchises and adapt them for film and television.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, this new enterprise will be led by Asad Qizilbash and overseen by the chairman of Worldwide Studios at SIE, Shawn Layden, and is "already in production on its first slate of projects and has set up shop on the Sony Studios lot in Culver City."

"We feel that now is a good time to look at other media opportunities across streaming or film or television to give our worlds life in another spectrum."

Doctor Who: The Edge of Time Lets You Fly a VR TARDIS

A new virtual reality Doctor Who game, The Edge of Time, will be released this September, and allow players to go (almost) literally hands-on with the TARDIS and face down a variety of classic sci-fi villains.

Doctor Who: The Edge of Time casts you as a friend of the Doctor (portrayed by the current incarnation, Jodie Whittaker), attempting to find and rescue the Time Lord from nefarious forces. Thankfully you’re armed with her Sonic Screwdriver, which will come in handy for the variety of puzzles the game throws at you.

Described as “feature-length”, Doctor Who: The Edge of Time will span several hours and pit you against the Daleks, the Weeping Angels, and brand new monsters as you attempt to recover a collection of time crystals that will help repair spacetime. As you can imagine, this will require you to pilot the TARDIS and travel to a variety of worlds and time periods.

Skyrim Arrives on the Tabletop in The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms

The world of Skyrim is coming to the tabletop in a new miniatures board game: The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms.

The new game has been developed by Modiphius, the company behind the Fallout: Wasteland Warfare miniatures game. While using the same core mechanics of Wasteland Warfare, the systems have been rewritten and reworked to fit The Elder Scrolls setting.

A skirmish game played with 32mm resin miniature characters (think Warhammer, just a little more Norse-y), players take control of a hero from The Elder Scrolls games and leads a group of henchmen into dungeons such as Dwemer ruins and Nord tombs. But while many miniatures games centre on the prime objective of defeating an enemy, The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms is focusing on something different.

A huge group of Game of Thrones fans went wild for one of Jon Snow’s biggest moments in the Season 8 finale: petting his direwolf, Ghost.

Earlier this season, fans were devastated that Jon sent Ghost away with Tormund and the Wildlings, claiming that he “belongs in the North”. He did this without so much as a fond look, never mind petting him or scratching behind the ears. This was, apparently, in order to make sure the scene didn’t look like a visual effects shot and thus make the moment more “honest”.

Game of Thrones Twitter Reactions: Fans Think Finale Sucked

Warning: Full spoilers follow for Game of Thrones' series finale, "The Iron Throne."

Even if we may have been anticipating Daenerys’ inevitable downfall, Game of Thrones' path forward hasn’t exactly been paved with the most nuanced trajectory, and fans have noticed. Dany may have made a few missteps of judgment in her time, but it certainly still felt like 0 to 100 (read: genocide) in Game of Thrones’ penultimate episode. And now that the show has had its final chance for a wrap-up, many fans have come away feeling dissatisfied. I mean, Bran, really? Let's take a look at what folks are saying!

IGN’s Readers

“The storytelling just didn't hold up at the end at all,” IGN reader tariq319 said. “I'm okay with how the story ended, but the way it was being told just left me completely disappointed.” Reader HillAustinD sees the silver lining of it all: “I feel like after last week’s travesty, this was as good as we could have hoped for.”
