IT Chapter Two Confirmed for Comic-Con 2019

Pennywise is prepared to haunt San Diego Comic-Con 2019 this year with IT Chapter Two slated to have a presence this year, but not in WB's familiar Hall H setting.

Director Andy Muschetti confirmed on his Instagram that the highly anticipated IT sequel will be present at SDCC, but it will be showcased at WB's "ScareDiego" event adjacent to SDCC. WB will be specifically focusing on its horror slate during the yearly convention, foregoing any sort of Hall H panel presence as has been a staple in years past.

As a result, WB will not be spotlighting its upcoming superhero slate as it has in previous years, with the studio's Hall H panel having showings of Wonder Woman 1984 and Shazam in 2018.

How Marvel’s First Gay Movie Superhero Can Be a Success

Although Marvel Studios has proven to be the most successful movie franchise of all time, they still have room to grow, especially when it comes to LGBTQ+ representation. Queer characters have appeared before in Marvel Cinematic Universe TV shows like Runaways and Jessica Jones, but it wasn’t until the release of Avengers: Endgame that they were actually acknowledged in Marvel’s movies when a mourner recounted his same-sex date.

Even then, the brief inclusion of one gay character didn’t make up for all the times that Marvel didn’t seize the opportunity to express the queerness of other LGBTQ+ characters on the big screen. Loki, Valkyrie, Ayo and even Korg have all enjoyed queer relationships in the comics, but you wouldn’t know that from watching any of Marvel’s movies. While Loki and Korg haven’t expressed a sexuality of any kind in the movies, both Valkyrie and Ayo were denied the chance to do so when scenes portraying them as queer were cut from Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther before final release.

What We Want From Halo Infinite at E3

The lead up to Master Chief’s journey in Halo 5 Guardians was as neat as it was confusing. My questions about the goofy cloak over Master Chief’s armor were quickly eclipsed by the excitement brought by the menace that waited for him in the sand in Halo 5’s reveal trailer. From there, things got creative. We learned about Locke’s hunt for the Chief and his collaboration with the Arbiter at E3 2014. There was even an incredible audio series recounting the Chief’s journey from the respective of a reporter and a rebel leader. Regardless of how Halo 5 turned out, the lead up to it was a fun way to get to know the Chief better. E3 is approaching, and with Microsoft talking so much about it being one of its biggest shows ever, I have high expectations for information on Halo Infinite.

President and CEO of Sony’s PlayStation division Jim Ryan has gone on record about the company’s success with narrative-driven, story-based games, saying "it's certainly not a genre of gaming we'll ever walk away from. "

In an interview with CNET, Ryan was asked about the future of live-service games like Anthem and Fallout 76, and if they are the future of interactive entertainment when compared to the narrative-driven games Sony has been focusing on for some time, which includes God of War, Horizon: Zero DawnSpider-Man and more.

Todd Howard Reflects on Crunch at Bethesda and Across Industry

According to numerous reports, crunch (the practice of overworking employees to reach project deadlines, often to the detriment of an employee’s health) is a massively pervasive issue in the video game industry. Accusations allege that studios like Mortal Kombat’s NetherRealm, Fortnite’s Epic Games, and Grand Theft Auto’s Rockstar (among many others) all practice at least some amount of crunch, leading to increased calls for unionization across the industry. It’s become an issue that even the biggest of executives are forced to acknowledge, and on this month’s episode of IGN Unfiltered, Bethesda director Todd Howard shared his thoughts on the relationship between crunch and the studio that’s brought us The Elder Scrolls and modern Fallout.

Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokémon Company held a Pokémon Direct for Pokémon Sword and Shield and a ton of new information was revealed, including the release date of November 15, Dynamax and Raid battles, the new Legendary Pokémon, and so much more.

We've gathered everything new discussed in one place for all to see and look over until we can all jump into the Galar region in Pokémon Sword and Shield this November.

Dynamax

A new phenomenon in certain parts of the Galar region (including all gyms), Dynamax makes Pokémon giant in size and gives them incredible strength. All moves that Pokémon know will be turned into "powerful maximums," (with some changing entirely, not unlike Z-moves).
