The Walking Dead: How Robert Kirkman Faked Out Fans
Warning: this article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead #193!
The Walking Dead somehow managed to save its biggest plot twist for last. Today marks the release of The Walking Dead #193, an issue we only just learned is also the series finale. And as creator Robert Kirkman notes in his afterword, maintaining the element of surprise wasn't easy. He and publisher Image Comics had to go to some fairly extreme lengths to throw readers off the trail.
Kirkman took advantage of the fact that comic books sold through distributor Diamond Comics are solicited three months ahead of time. He and artist Charlie Adlard went so far as to create fake solicitation copy and even cover art for issues #194, #195 and #196, teasing a nonexistent storyline involving a new character named Sheriff Kapoor (who does play a minor role in issue #193).

How Far From Home Could Set Up Spider-Man 3 – SPOILERS
Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Spider-Man: Far From Home!
The latest Spider-Man movie ends on a surprisingly dark note, assuming you stick around to watch the mid-credits sequence. In this scene, J. Jonah Jameson (played by a returning J.K. Simmons!) airs doctored footage of Spider-Man's final encounter with Mysterio, making it seem as though Spidey himself ordered the London drone attack which took place during the film's climax. Worse, JJJ reveals to the whole world that Peter Parker is Spider-Man.
EA Struggles With the Perception That ‘We’re Just a Bunch of Bad Guys’
EA’s vice president of strategic growth has revealed how he still struggles with a public perception that EA is “just a bunch of bad guys”, and how he hopes that EA Originals - the publisher’s label for smaller, indie-like games - will help the company reconnect with new talent.
Talking to GamesIndustry.biz, EA’s Matt Bilbey said “25 years at EA and I still struggle with the external perception that we’re just a bunch of bad guys. We love making and playing games. Unfortunately, when we make mistakes on games, the world knows about it because it’s of a size and scale.”

Grid Delayed Until October 2019
Grid, the upcoming racing game from Codemasters, has been delayed from its original September launch date to October.
Grid will now be released October 11. This is marks a four week delay for Codemasters’ return to the TOCA franchise, which was originally scheduled to launch on September 13.
The new date was announced on the Codemasters blog, with no explicit reasoning provided for the delay. The post assures potential buyers of the Ultimate Edition that they will still be able to play three days in advance of the main release date, meaning those players will be able to start their racing careers from October 8.
Star Wars Episode 9 Will Address Rey’s Parentage, Says Daisy Ridley
Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the current Star Wars trilogy, has confirmed that The Rise of Skywalker will deal with the subject of Rey’s parents.
Talking to USA Today, when asked about if the film would further explore her character’s parentage, Ridley said: “(Director J.J. Abrams) did say the question is answered. So at the end of the film, you do know what the dealio is.”
Back in April, J.J. Abrams said that “there’s more to the story than you’ve seen” in regards to Rey’s parents, teasing that he and writer Chris Terrio had more ideas in mind for Rey’s backstory. But Ridley’s latest comments solidify the fact that The Rise of Skywalker will answer fans’ questions about the topic.
The Marvel Zombies Will Rise Again in October
Marvel Comics is reviving the Marvel Zombies franchise just in time for Halloween this year. Today the publisher revealed a brand new Marvel Zombies series set to debut in October 2019.
We don't yet know the creative team involved, but Marvel did release a teaser image from artist Inhyuk Lee. Check it out below:
The tagline "The dead will walk again" is obviously meant to invoke the Image Comics series The Walking Dead. The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman actually wrote the first two Marvel Zombies miniseries. Could this be a hint he's returning to the franchise?
Mordhau Developers Releases Another Statement, Says Diversity Toggle Never Official
Update:
Following the confusion over Mordhau developer Triternion's official stance on a diversity toggle, the team has issued a second statement on the matter denying plans to ever add such a feature.
In a post made on Mordhau's community forums, Triternion blames the confusion on a "misunderstanding" and lack of PR experience for the two developers interviewed by PC Gamer. "First and foremost, Triternion does not, nor have we ever, had plans to add a customization option that would force a white male default," Triternion writes in a new statement. "This is an absurd idea that stems from a misunderstanding in a recent interview by PC Gamer with two of our artists."
Get The Witcher TRPG For Free
You can get a free version of The Witcher Tabletop Roleplaying Game: for free on DriveThruRPG.
Called "The Witcher: Easy Mode," the free 32-page PDF download is a simplified version of the full rulebook that contains the basic rules and mechanics, six pre-generated characters and a pre-written adventure for game masters who may not want to be responsible for coming up with a full story off the top of their heads.
Written by Cody Pondsmith and J Gray of R Talsorian Games, the company behind Cyberpunk 2020 (on which Cyberpunk 2077 is based), The Witcher Roleplaying Game takes place between the events of The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We thoroughly enjoyed the session we played with Cody before the game launched last year, and are excited to see what else the R Talsorian team has in store for The Witcher universe.
