New Nintendo Switch Model With Longer Battery Life Announced
Nintendo has announced a new version of the original Nintendo Switch console that offers longer battery life.
The new version of the console, as shown on the Nintendo website, will offer a significantly improved battery life. The new version is said to offer approximately between 4.5 and 9 hours of battery life, compared to the 2.5 - 6.5 hours provided by the current model. Nintendo notes that battery life is dependent on the game being played. An example is offered in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which can run for 3 hours on current Switch hardware, and 5.5 hours on the updated console.
The recently announced Switch Lite has an expected battery life of between 3 and 7 hours, putting it at a mid point between old and new versions of the original Switch design.
Borderlands 3 Vault Insider Program Offers Free Loot Ahead of Launch
Gearbox is offering free loot for Borderlands games, including the upcoming Borderlands 3, for players who sign up to its Vault Insider Program.
The program is technically a marketing campaign, but alongside promoting the game and its social channels it also offers a Borderlands 3 Welcome Pack. This pack contains some ‘high rarity’ grenade and shield mods, as well as a VIP weapon trinket, which will unlock when you start playing Borderlands 3.
Beyond that pack, there are also a variety of Borderlands 3 items, from guns to skins, that can be unlocked by spending points earned through the Vault Insider Program. These rewards are spread across the Borderlands series, but the most attractive ones are skins for the new characters coming in Borderlands 3. Points to buy these items with are earned through “doing fun stuff that you were probably gonna do anyway” according to the website.
George R.R. Martin: Game of Thrones Reactions Won’t Change Winds of Winter
George R.R. Martin has spoken up about the fan's backlash following the final season of Game of Thrones, saying that it will not alter any of his plans for the final two books in A Song of Ice and Fire.
Speaking to EW, Martin confirmed that there is a "certain degree of temptation" to want to change the ending following an outcry that even led to a petition to re-do the final season. However, changing direction because of the internet's outrage can be a dangerous road to travel.
Thor 4: Villains, Heroes and Comics Taika Waititi Could Use
Big MCU news just struck like a bolt of lightning: Taika Waititi is returning to write and direct Thor 4. For the first time, an MCU solo franchise is receiving a fourth installment, and after Thor: Ragnarok eclipsed the previous Thor films in critical and commercial success (93% on RottenTomatoes and $854 million at the global box office), it makes sense that Marvel wants to collaborate with Waititi again. With star Chris Hemsworth reportedly expected to return in the title role, that leaves us with the question: what is Thor 4 even about?
After all, Asgard is destroyed, Loki is dead (again), and by the end of Avengers: Endgame, Thor stated he has no path. Yet given what has happened to Thor over the past several films starting with Ragnarok, perhaps “having no path” is exactly what he needs.
You Can Play as Kylo Ren in Devil May Cry 5 Thanks to PC Mod
No, it wasn't just you. Lots of people thought that "V" from Devil May Cry 5 bore more than a few similarities to Kylo Ren from Star Wars. And thanks to the magic of PC mods, along with the talents of modder Nxus64, you can now give V the total Kylo Ren makeover with this Kylo Ren Mod in Devil May Cry 5.
While it's not a total facial conversion like the recent Keanu Reeves mod in Metal Gear Solid 5, it's kind of amazing how closely V resembles Kylo with just a wardrobe and weapon change.
How Social Media Has Shaped The Watch Dogs Series
Over the years, our relationship with technology has changed greatly, particularly in the social media space. Frustrating as it is fun, it has evolved from another form of self-expression and a way to connect with others into a vital part of our everyday lives and how we establish identity in both the digital and the real world. Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs series has been there every step of the way, highlighting how social platforms have helped us both keep tabs on movie news and learn about the latest government scandal. It also shines a mirror on how social media has become a superpower unto itself, and how one chooses to wield it.
The original Watch Dogs protagonist, Aiden Pearce, a man with paranoia to spare, used others' obsessions with social media for his own gain. Aiden had a Profiler on his phone that let him glean information off anyone nearby, which he wasn’t conflicted about using. You could tell he viewed the tech-enhanced Chicago and its citizens with contempt. People who think of social media as a waste of time (why would someone broadcast every thought they had on the internet?) all have an air of arrogance about them, and Aiden was no exception. From the start, his social interactions were strained at best and downright hostile at worst—because he didn’t want to connect with anyone and only viewed people in terms of data.
Borderlands 3: 30 Screenshots from the New Trailer
Earlier today, Gearbox released a spectacle of a cinematic trailer for Borderlands 3. In a way only Borderlands could, the new trailer juxtaposed guns and murder with dance and The Turtles' "So Happy Together."

Check out the gallery below or scroll down to view some highlights (note that this is not actual gameplay, as highlighted in the trailer).
The Little Mermaid: Harry Styles In Talks to Play Prince Eric
The Little Mermaid live-action adaptation could nab another singer-turned-actor, this time for the role of Prince Eric.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, former One Direction singer Harry Styles is in early negotiations to play Prince Eric in the upcoming Little Mermaid live-action movie. If cast, he will play the love interest opposite Ariel, played by singer-actor Halle Bailey.
Styles would be another singer to join the cast after Bailey and would further strengthen the upcoming live-action film's musical bonafides. Director Rob Marshall has a background in musicals as well, directing movies like Chicago, Into the Woods, and Mary Poppins Returns.
