A pair of Fortnite World Cup competitors, formerly banned by Epic for cheating, were the target of much ire Saturday, as the crowd loudly booed one's appearance onscreen and subsequently cheered for his loss.

Did the IGN Community Experience Switch Joy-Con Drift Issues?

Nintendo has had a rough week, ever since a class action lawsuit was filed over issues with the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con controllers experiencing drifting. Controller drift is when a joystick registers input when there is none. In the case of a shooter game, it might move the reticle when you’re trying to aim precisely. At first, Nintendo was fine with putting out a corporate-speak non-response, but things grew heated enough that Nintendo has finally agreed to repair any Joy-Cons for free and refund past repairs. So exactly how widespread was this Joy-Con drift issue? We asked the lovely IGN community to chime in with whether or not their Switch Joy-Cons experienced drift, and a whopping 26,000 of you responded.

Doom Eternal Will Have Some Sort of Hub Where Doomguy Hangs Out

At the Doom Eternal panel at this year’s QuakeCon, executive producer Marty Stratton let slip that the original Doomguy space marine may have some sort of hub area where he hangs out, and presumably takes a break from ripping the intestines out of Mancubuses.

According to PC Gamer, Doom Eternal creative director Hugo Martin was joined onstage by Stratton to demo more footage from the game. Afterwards, members of Doom’s Slayers fan club were able to ask questions, which prompted a humorous exchange about what Doomguy does in his spare time, specifically what kind of workout routine and protein diet he must have.

Orlando Bloom Talks Potential Cameo in Amazon’s Lord of the Rings Show

Orlando Bloom may be starring in an Amazon Prime Original series (Victorian fantasy drama Carnival Row), but don't expect him to cameo in Amazon's upcoming Lord of the Rings TV show.

The British actor, who got his big break starring as Legolas Greenleaf in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy (and subsequently reprised the role in Jackson's Hobbit trilogy a decade later), recalled that 20 years ago when they were in the midst of filming the fantasy epic, Jackson predicted that someone would someday try and remake the story based on J.R.R. Tolkien's seminal novels, with the cast insisting it would never happen. "Now here I am working for Amazon and they're remaking it," Bloom laughed, appearing alongside Carnival Row costar Cara Delevingne, creator Travis Beacham, and showrunner Marc Guggenheim at Amazon's Television Critics Association press tour.

Bethesda Says It Will Make Doom Re-Release Login Requirement Optional

On Friday at QuakeCon, Bethesda and id Software treated fans to a surprise announcement that all three original Doom games are now available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. Unfortunately, the positive reception to the new ports was dampened a little bit when it became apparent that players were required to create and login into a Bethesda.net account to play them. After a day’s worth of outcry, Bethesda has confirmed it is working on a way to make the login optional for all players.

Amazon Gives The Expanse an Early Season 5 Order

At the TCA 2019 summer press tour, Amazon announced orders for The Expanse Season 5, and Carnival Row Season 2, both ahead of their respective premieres. Season 4 of The Expanse will drop on December 13, while Carnival Row is set to debut on August 30.

Presumably, The Expanse Season 5 will center on some of the events in Book 5, titled Nemesis Games, which was written by James S.A. Corey (co-authors Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham) in 2015. Per Amazon, Season 4 "begins a new chapter for the series with the crew of the Rocinante on a mission from the U.N. to explore new worlds beyond the Ring Gate. Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources but also marked by the ruins of a long-dead alien civilization. While Earthers, Martians, and Belters maneuver to colonize Ilus and its natural resources, these early explorers don’t understand this new world and are unaware of the larger dangers that await them."
