Chinese Zelda Fans Protest Alleged Breath of the Wild Rip-Off

PlayStation 4's Genshin Impact, a Chinese-developed JRPG from miHoYo, has upset certain Chinese fans who state that it is allegedly copying The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

As reported by Kotaku, Genshin Impact was showcased at the China Joy gaming expo by Sony, and many in attendance couldn't help but point out the similarities in gameplay mechanics, art-style, and music.

ZhugeEX, CCN, and @SiyuYang_V also reported on this controversy and showed first hand the anger towards Genshin Impact, including Zelda fans holding their Switch consoles and/or Breath of the Wild cases while flipping off this new JRPG at Sony's booth. One fan even smashed his own PlayStation 4 in protest.

Pokemon Bans Weird Card From World Championships for Weird Reason

The Pokemon Company has banned a Pokemon card from use in the Pokemon TCG World Championships taking place later this month, but not for the reason you’d think. News of the ban was sent out to Japanese players, and a formal announcement to other regions is expected soon, according to Pokemon news site PokeBeach. Typically cards are banned because they create an unfair game state, allow for an infinite combo, or are just too powerful, but the card in question, a weird new Supporter card from the Unified Minds expansion called Blaine’s Quiz Show, is being banned because it creates a unique issue that could really only happen at the World Championships.

Netflix’s The OA Canceled: No Season 3

Netflix has canceled The OA after two seasons.

"We are incredibly proud of the 16 mesmerizing chapters of The OA, and are grateful to

Brit

and Zal

for sharing their audacious vision and for realizing it through their incredible artistry," said Cindy Holland, Netflix's head of originals (via The Hollywood Reporter). "We look forward to working with them again in the future, in this and perhaps many other dimensions."

Season 2 of the heartfelt, often bizarre drama was released in March. IGN's The OA Season 2 review called it "more ambitious and much weirder than its predecessor," noting the finale's enticing setup for a third season. The OA was originally pitched as a five-season show, Holland told IndieWire last year.

Fire Emblem Voice Actor Has Been Recording Seteth Memes

Mark Whitten, the voice actor for Seteth in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, has been voicing over popular memes based on his character to hilarious effect.

For those who haven't been obsessively playing the new Nintendo Switch game over the last ten days, Seteth is Archbishop Rhea's second-in-command who has extreme devotion to the Church of Serios and his sister Flayn. He's also a bit of a jerk to the player character, to whom he makes frequent snide remarks.

Naturally, Fire Emblem fans have quickly begun making memes based on bizarre side quests that Seteth would theoretically give to the player character, with a bit of a Baby Boomer bent.
