Epic Denounces Harassment in Wake of Epic Store Controversy
Epic Games has formally denounced the “harassment of partners, promotion of hateful themes, and intimidation of those with opposing views,” following a deluge of “thousands, if not tens of thousands of hateful, threatening messages” sent to the developer of Ooblets, the colorful creature-collecting game.
In a blog post published on July 31, Ben Wasser, one of only two developers on Ooblets, announced that studio Glumberland had signed a PC launch exclusivity deal with the Epic Games Store. Ooblets is just the latest in a string of exclusivity deals announced since the Epic Game Store's inception.
Gemma Chan in Talks to Join Marvel’s The Eternals
Gemma Chan and Barry Keoghan may soon be the latest Hollywood stars to join the cast of Marvel's The Eternals. Variety reports the Crazy Rich Asians star is currently in talks to join the cast, while Collider reports that Keoghan (Dunkirk, Chernobyl) is also in talks.
Chan made her MCU debut earlier this year, playing Kree villain Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel. Interestingly, it doesn't sound as though Chan will be reprising that role in The Eternals. Variety notes that some sources are indicating she'll be playing "a completely different role."
Event Horizon TV Series in Development From Amazon
Amazon and Paramount Television are developing a TV series adaptation of the 1997 science fiction horror film Event Horizon, according to Variety.
Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard is set to direct. Wingard is also responsible for directing 2017’s live action Death Note adaptation, 2011’s You’re Next, the Blair Witch reboot, and multiple segments of both V/H/S films.
The original film was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who would go on to direct or write the Milla Jovovich Resident Evil films, and is directing 2020’s Monster Hunter film. Event Horizon tells the story of two spaceship crews, one operating as a search and rescue party for the crew of the Event Horizon ship. The surviving astronauts discover that the Event Horizon holds dark secrets that threatens their lives and sanity.
Who Is Gorr, the Rumored Villain of Thor 4?
The Avengers may be no more (for now, anyway), but Thor himself still has a big part to play in the future of the MCU. Phase 4 will culminate in November 2021 with the release of Thor: Love and Thunder. Not only will this sequel reunite Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson with director Taika Waititi, but it'll also bring back Natalie Portman's Jane Foster as the new goddess of thunder.
Currently, Thor, Valkyrie and Jane Foster are the only three characters confirmed for the sequel. However, rumors point to Gorr the God Butcher as the next major threat to Asgard. Read on for a full breakdown of Gorr's background and role in the Thor franchise, as well as a few alternate candidates who could appear in Thor: Love and Thunder.
Every Arrow Season 8 Episode Will Be ‘An Event’ Leading Up to Crisis
Arrow fans can expect a much different approach to the show's eighth and final season. According to star Stephen Amell, each and every episode will serve as "an event" as the show ties up loose ends and paves the way for the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover.
Amell teased this drastically different approach while talking to reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
"I think that the show, as people have understood it and its structure I think it ended in our Season 7 finale," said Amell. "This year is fundamentally different. The episodes are events. And, to me, the show, as we constructed it, ended when Emily
left."
As Amell describes it, each episode is intended to wrap up a specific element of Arrow's mythology leading up to Crisis and the series finale. "Every episode this year feels like we’re trying to try to put a button on a certain part of the show. And I’ve got a chance to work with actors and characters thus far that I haven’t had a chance to work with in a bunch of years."

Chinese Zelda Fans Protest Alleged Breath of the Wild Rip-Off
PlayStation 4's Genshin Impact, a Chinese-developed JRPG from miHoYo, has upset certain Chinese fans who state that it is allegedly copying The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
As reported by Kotaku, Genshin Impact was showcased at the China Joy gaming expo by Sony, and many in attendance couldn't help but point out the similarities in gameplay mechanics, art-style, and music.
ZhugeEX, CCN, and @SiyuYang_V also reported on this controversy and showed first hand the anger towards Genshin Impact, including Zelda fans holding their Switch consoles and/or Breath of the Wild cases while flipping off this new JRPG at Sony's booth. One fan even smashed his own PlayStation 4 in protest.
Pokemon Bans Weird Card From World Championships for Weird Reason
The Pokemon Company has banned a Pokemon card from use in the Pokemon TCG World Championships taking place later this month, but not for the reason you’d think. News of the ban was sent out to Japanese players, and a formal announcement to other regions is expected soon, according to Pokemon news site PokeBeach. Typically cards are banned because they create an unfair game state, allow for an infinite combo, or are just too powerful, but the card in question, a weird new Supporter card from the Unified Minds expansion called Blaine’s Quiz Show, is being banned because it creates a unique issue that could really only happen at the World Championships.
