XM Studios Shows Off Epic Justice League Statues at NYCC
XM Studios has built a strong reputation in the statue collecting community in recent years, crafting expensive but extremely impressive statues of Marvel and DC's heroes. They brought some of those statues to NYCC, showing off bold takes on Justice League favorites like Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern and Aquaman.
Check out the slideshow gallery below for a closer look at the amazing pieces XM had on display:
XM Studios may not be a name familiar to all collectors and superhero fans. Historically, the company has only had a license to distribute statues in select international markets, leaving North American collectors to import pieces through third-party retailers. However, with their new line of 1:6 scale Justice League statues, XM finally has a global distribution license. At roughly $500 a piece, these statues are still hardly cheap, but at least they're much easier to acquire than in the past.
Report: Steam’s 30% Cut Is Actually the Industry Standard
Last year the Epic Games Store swooped in and started hoovering up game exclusives like they were Pokemon cards, offering PC publishers an alternative to Valve's 30% cut on Steam by taking just 12% from the games sold through its new platform. Since then, the cuts game retailers take and the effect it has on both players and developers alike have been a hot topic - and, as it often goes with the internet, a lot of misinformation can get mixed into those conversations.
We reached out to nearly half a dozen sources within the games industry (as well as the game retailers directly) in order to get the actual numbers on what cuts most major retailers take. While many of these sources prefer to remain anonymous, they paint a picture that could be surprising to some players, one where Valve’s now infamous 30% cut isn’t actually out of the norm. In fact, it's pretty much the industry standard.
Hasbro Brings Incredible New Star Wars Figures to NYCC
You may have heard there's a new Star Wars movie dropping in a few months. Unsurprisingly, Hasbro is putting a lot of muscle behind Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in the months ahead, with new figures that span the entirety of the Skywalker Saga.
Hasbro will focus on three separate toy lines leading into The Rise of Skywalker - the Vintage Collection (3 3/4-inch figures with retro packaging), Galaxy of Adventures (stylized, kid-focused 5-inch figures) and The Black Series (collector-oriented, 6-inch figures). Check out the slideshow gallery below for a look at all the new figures Hasbro revealed at NYCC:
Among the noteworthy reveals at the con, Hasbro will release several new retailer and convention exclusives in the near future. Among these is a Vintage Collection Sith Trooper Armory figure exclusive to Amazon, which includes more weapons than found in the standard version. Target will also sell an exclusive "Cave of Evil" Vintage Collection set that includes Dagobah-themed versions of Luke and Yoda and a battle-damaged Darth Vader with Luke's face.
Oxenfree Developer Explains the ‘Hell’ of Making Licensed Games
When a game studio manages to create a hit, it can be easy to forget that even success doesn’t pay all of the bills. That’s why studios like Night School, makers of Oxenfree and the upcoming Afterparty, can find themselves creating licensed games in between their own projects. For co-creative director Sean Krankel, he knows the “hell” of making licensed games all too well.
On this month’s episode of Unfiltered, Krankel sits down with IGN’s own Ryan McCaffrey to discuss what it was like making games like 50 Cent: Bulletproof, the mobile Mr. Robot game, and The Grinch on the PS1.

WWE Hell in a Cell: Fans Chant “Refund” After Main Event
Fans in attendance at WWE's Hell in a Cell PPV -- from Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California -- were left with a super sour taste in their mouths after the main event featuring Universal Champion Seth Rollins and "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt.
With arguably everyone in attendance behind Bray Wyatt, wanting him to defeat Seth Rollins, WWE opted instead for a super surreal finish that involved Wyatt repeatedly kicking out of Seth Rollins' finisher - the Stomp - which Rollins delivered over a dozen times.
Rick and Morty Season 4 Premiere Date Announced
Adult Swim has dropped a colourfully chaotic new trailer for the highly anticipated fourth season of Rick and Morty, which has now been given a premiere date of November 10 at 11:30 p.m. Eastern – with a UK broadcast expected to follow shortly after the initial launch.
As per the brand new trailer, the "smartest Rick and mortiest Morty in the universe" will be returning for five episodes next month, as the voiceover confirms that it's "half the season you deserve, all the season we could handle."
Last May, creator Justin Roiland revealed Rick and Morty had been renewed for a whopping 70 more episodes, prompting co-creator Dan Harmon to joke about the announcement on Instagram.
Joker Director Addresses Fan Theory About Arthur Fleck’s Ties to Batman
Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Joker.
Joker director Todd Phillips has addressed a major fan theory that suggests Joaquin Phoenix's Joker might not be Batman's true nemesis.
Phillips recently sat down with the L.A. Times to delve into several of the film's ambiguities, including whether or not Arthur Fleck's Clown Prince of Crime is the actual Joker that we have come to know. In the interview, he proposed that the troubled character might in fact serve as inspiration for the Gotham City supervillain.
Rainbow Six Siege Director ‘Always Talks About’ a Dog Operator
Rainbow Six Siege’s presentation director, Alexander Karpazis, has revealed that the developers at Ubisoft are always thinking about how they could get a dog into the hugely popular 5v5 shooter.
On an episode of Wired’s Tech Support, Karpazis responded to a fan’s Twitter question, which asked if a dog-using operator would ever be added to the game. “This is something that we’ve talked about for a while,” Karpazis said. “Our creative director always talks about a K9 unit.”
Rather than confirm an operator with a dog for a gadget, though, Karpazis had a less conclusive final response: “But to answer your question, I have to ask you a question. Are you okay with shooting a dog?”
AMD’s Radeon RX 5500 is Here But Only Inside Prebuilt PCs at Launch
AMD has rolled out new, more inexpensive Navi graphics card with the Radeon RX 5500.
Well at least that’s the way AMD is presenting the card without mentioning pricing, because at launch it's going to be available inside of prebuilt gaming PCs. You won’t be able to buy this GPU as a standalone part until sometime in Q4 2019 (usually October to December).
