The 21 Side-Quests That Are Always in RPGs
Ever rounded up a bunch of sheep or pigs or horses into a pen and thought...this feels familiar? How about when you're in someone's house for dinner and something feels a little, I don't know, "off" about what they're serving? What about when old Doris the NPC who lives across the street can't find her beloved frying pan?
Here, we've rounded up the quest-types that we see over and over again in RPGs, for better or worse (I'm looking at you, "killing rats and spiders"). Tell us your favorites in the comment section below!
The Monster That's Terrorizing a Town Turns Out To Be Humans (Bandits and/or Rowdy Kids)
There's a horrible beast in the woods that's been stealing chickens and... sweet rolls? Or maybe it's actually bandits and they are kidnapping kids. Either way, that big bad wolf is actually just some guy named Geoff. Or a kid named Jeff. Either way, you better give them a stern talking to. Maybe sometimes a real monster shows up to teach this lesson for you. Examples include: The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Horizon: Zero Dawn. - Jon Ryan, Senior Editor

This clip showcases what appears to be one of the major action sequences from the new movie, with our heroes in-flight and attempting to escape the relentless Rev-9. Nvidia Shield TV and Shield TV Pro Will Upscale HD Video Streams to 4K
Nvidia has announced two new versions of its Shield TV home streaming hardware. The Shield TV and Shield TV Pro will not only stream shows and movies from services like Netflix, but also games. Plus, it will upscale HD video to 4K using AI.
The Nvidia Shield TV and TV Pro are media streaming devices similar to Google’s Chromecast and Amazon’s Fire TV. Like the other devices, the Shield TV and TV Pro can stream videos and movies from Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube TV, Hulu, Spotify, Twitch, and more.
What differentiates the Nvidia Shield devices is its suite of software advancements which improves the picture quality of whatever it is you’re streaming. Dolby Vision-Atmos supports 4K HDR for a variety of streaming services, and AI Upscaling utilizes the Nvidia Tegra X1+ processor to upscale HD video to 4K in real-time.
What Is 8K All About?
4K TVs are in full swing, and we’re starting to see more and more laptops and monitors deliver 4K resolutions as well. Thanks to some great deals the last few Black Fridays, there have been ample opportunities for us all to upgrade to 4K, but now we’re facing down 8K and it feels like it came faster than any of us could have expected.
8K displays aren’t just here as prototypes either. Samsung, Sony, and LG already offer 8K TV models of wildly varying prices, and Dell had an 8K monitor kicking about years before them. So, what’s the deal with 8K? What is 8K, and when should you make the leap?

Watchmen’s Jeremy Irons Explains His Not-So-Mystery Character
Spoilers follow for the first two episodes of HBO’s Watchmen.
With the latest episode of Watchmen, "Martial Feats of Comanche Horsemanship," we’ve learned just a little bit more about Jeremy Irons’ character, who is all but confirmed to be Adrian Veidt, a.k.a. Ozymandias. Sure, they haven’t specifically named him yet onscreen, but as creator and showrunner Damon Lindelof recently told IGN, “I am very comfortable saying you can't call something Watchmen unless Adrian Veidt is in it.”
Ozymandias is the former masked adventurer who, in the original story, turned out to be behind a far-reaching conspiracy which resulted in the death of some three million people, all to stop a nuclear war from taking place (long story). Now, over 30 years later on the HBO show, it sure seems as though that plan worked. But how does Veidt feel about what he did back then? And what exactly is he up to now, seemingly living in isolation with those weird clone-like servants of his? Oh, and why is he staging a reenactment of the birth of Dr. Manhattan in the latest episode? And will Veidt’s story ever connect to what’s going on in Tulsa? Let’s dig in with Lindelof and Irons on these questions and more…
