Star Trek: Legion Creator Noah Hawley to Write and Direct Next Sequel

Legion creator Noah Hawley is in final talks with Paramount Pictures to write and direct the next Star Trek film.

As reported by Deadline, Hawley, through his 26 Keys production banner, will produce the film alongside J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot.

Not much is known about the film that will be the first Star Trek film since 2016's Star Trek Beyond, but Deadline's sources say Hawley will direct the "Enterprise crew led by Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, and Karl Urban."

Hawley, who also serves as the executive producer, writer, director, and showrunner of FX's Fargo, is currently in production of the fourth season of this Emmy-winning limited series that stars Chris Rock this time around.

PS5’s Controller Likely Isn’t Changing Much, And That’s OK

About a year out from when many of us expect the PS5 to launch, we may have our best guess yet as to what the PS5 controller, the DualShock 5 for lack of a catchier name, will look and function like. And, it’s seemingly not all that different from the DualShock 4. That’s not really such a bad thing though, considering the DualShock 4 is PlayStation’s best controller yet.

So far, we have official descriptions from Wired, who went hands-on with a prototype of the officially unnamed controller, as well as recent patents that, while not a guarantee of the final design, are likely close to the real thing when compared to those descriptions. There are some notable alleged changes, including one that seems innocuous at first but could have some big ramifications, but it’s clear that, should all this prove to be true, Sony isn’t looking to break what’s already fixed in most regards.

JJ Abrams: The Rise of Skywalker Isn’t Setting Up Another Trilogy

It seems as though the Skywalker Saga may finally be coming to an end according to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Abrams said that Episode IX will not set up future storylines that would allow Disney to directly lead into another trilogy.

This comes on the heels of Disney CEO Bob Iger recently detailing plans for the series, saying "the Skywalker saga comes to an end with this ninth movie. There will be other Star Wars movies, but there will be a bit of a hiatus."

Star Wars: What Do We Know About Force Ghosts?

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is nearly upon us, and director J.J. Abrams and his cast has revealed intriguing new tidbits about the final film in the Skywalker Saga. A new Entertainment Weekly feature teases major new revelations about the age-old war between the Jedi and Sith and how Emperor Palpatine's surprise return is the culmination of that war.

“This has been a very long chess match that’s been played between the Jedi and the Sith — all the way back to the very beginning,” Oscar Issac said. “It’s an amazing thing to see that really come to the forefront.”

As EW notes, the return of Palpatine and the continued importance of Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker (who presumably appears in Force Ghost form in Episode IX) raises new questions about the nature of death in the Star Wars universe. What happens when Jedi and Sith die? How do they return as Force Ghosts, and what can they do to affect the world of the living? Abrams himself is remaining purposely mum, only telling EW “That’s probably best answered by not answering it.”
