Opinion: Death Stranding Finally Gets Good After Beating It

Warning: As you might have guessed, this article contains spoilers from up until the very end of Death Stranding.

I recently listened to a podcast about the Donner Party - the tragic group of American pioneers that tried to take a wagon train from Missouri to California and met just about every awful impediment they possibly could. It was almost completely horrible – a story of very human mistakes and inhuman acts, that stemmed almost entirely from poor planning. But what really struck me was that this whole tale is a fascinating reminder that, not so long ago, slightly misreading a map could lead to total ruin when the world you’re travelling in wasn’t yet built to accommodate you. It really made me want to play a game about that.

How to Unlock Every Lightsaber and Color in Jedi Fallen Order

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order has eight different lightsaber colors available for you to customize your lightsaber. They have no effect other than looking neat (and sounding different, more on that below) -- in other words, lightsaber colors are purely cosmetic. You start Jedi Fallen Order with the Blue and Green lightsaber colors, which you can change at your first workbench on the Mantis. You can also switch to Orange from the start if you have the pre-order bonus.

Every Lightsaber Color

These are all of the saber colors that can be found:

  • Blue - Default color
  • Green - Unlocked from the start
  • Purple - Requires Kyber Crystal found on Ilum

Arkane Studios Co-Founder Launches New Studio, WolfEye

Raphael Colantonio, the former President and Creative Director of Dishonored-creator Arkane Studios, has set up a new development company, WolfEye Studios. He has begun the venture along with fellow Arkane veteran Julien Roby, who was the company’s former Executive Producer.

At WolfEye Studios, Colantonio takes on the role of President and Creative Director, and Roby is the company’s CEO and Executive Producer. The developer already has a project in the works, which will be announced at The Game Awards this December. While WolfEye is keeping quiet about what that game is until the announcement, it has published a teaser picture which you can see below.

Teaser Image WolfEyeWolfEye Studios aims to “create games in which players live their own adventures in rich simulated worlds that respond to actions and decisions in ways that are unique to each playthrough” according to a press release from the company. That certainly sounds like a similar mantra to that of Arkane Studios, but it remains to be seen if the developer’s first game treads close to the Immersive Sim genre line.

How Much Did the Sonic Redesign Cost?

The studio behind the Sonic the Hedgehog movie reportedly paid less than $5 million to redesign the character.

Indiewire reports that the only visual effects in their final form were the shots in the infamous original trailer from April 30. So, when the decision to redesign Sonic was announced just three days after the trailer's debut, the VFX team still had a lot of work to do anyway.

Their source also says that the effects artists did not "suffer" with the new demands.

Why LittleBigPlanet Was the Best Game Pitch This Ex-Sony Exec Ever Saw

In his many years at Sony, Microsoft, and now Google, LittleBigPlanet is still the best game pitch Phil Harrison has ever heard.

In this month's episode of IGN Unfiltered, Ryan McCaffrey sat down with former PlayStation executive (and current Google VP) Phil Harrison to talk about his favorite game pitch, as well as Harrison's time at Sony, Microsoft, Google, and much more.

"There's a few stories to it," Harrison began, "First of all, that whole thing came about because a guy who worked for me, called Pete Hawley, spent a lot of time in a pub in Guildford with Alex

and Mark

from Lionhead and, persuading them over many pints of beer, over many, many months, about leaving and starting their own company
