Cats Director Admits Character Redesigns After Trailer Backlash

Cats director Tom Hooper has revealed that the production team behind the upcoming movie musical reevaluated some of the character designs in the aftermath of the trailer arriving online.

In an interview with Empire, Hooper opened up about the explosive response to the first trailer, admitting that the team were receptive to the feedback, as it ultimately prompted them to make some tweaks to the visuals, though they never expected the footage to spark such controversy.

As you know, on set, Baby Yoda was a practical puppet, though for safety reasons, scenes with the adorable critter were shot twice (once without the physical Yoda) in case the puppet didn't work and they needed to use CGI. It was a move that caused director Werner Herzog, who plays The Client on the series, to call the crew "cowards."

The Pokémon Company (via Nintendo Life) has revealed five new Sword and Shield plushies that will go on sale from December 14. The plushies include Gossifleur, Eldegoss, Wooloo, Corviknight, and Drednaw.

All five of these plush toys will be available to buy in the Japanese Pokémon Center. If you can’t make it there, don’t worry, as you’ll also be able to buy them from Amazon Japan.

The Valve Index VR headset is experiencing stock shortages in the US and Canada after the reveal of Half-Life: Alyx.

Valve revealed its new VR-only game Half-Life: Alyx on November 21. Now, just a week later, Valve’s own VR headset, the Index, is selling out in the US and Canada.

RoadtoVR reports that from November 27 most of the Index packages listed on the US and Canadian Steam store pages are displayed with “Back in Stock Soon” messages.

That’s three packages in total: the headset, controllers, and Half-Life: Alyx package; headset and Half-Life: Alyx package; and the controllers and Half-Life: Alyx package.

Google has hired developers who worked on the Assassin’s Creed series for its first game studio, which will focus on producing Stadia titles.

VGC discovered that some of Google’s first hires for its Stadia game studio in Montreal are those who previously held senior positions on the Assassin’s Creed series at Ubisoft. We’ve confirmed these hires by checking their LinkedIn profiles.

First is Sébastien Puel, who is now the general director of Google’s studio after being the executive producer on Assassin’s Creed for just over 10 years.
