PlayStation Survey at EVO Asks Players What NFTs They’d Like to Buy
At EVO 2022, PlayStation is asking players through a survey about what kind of NFTs they would be interested in purchasing.
On Twitter, user snorlaxownz posted a screenshot of a survey they received from PlayStation asking, “Which of the following NFT/Digital Collectibles would you most be interested in purchasing?” The answers include EVO-branded collectibles, favorite music artists, favorite esports players and teams, PlayStation items, and favorite game characters.
IGN confirmed the survey ourselves at EVO, suggesting at the very least PlayStation is gauging user interest for NFTs at the event.
Hey @wario64 a special PlayStation quest at EVO is asking players about what gaming NFTs they want to see from PlayStation. pic.twitter.com/Vwd5Q3cHn1
— Snorlax Ownz (@snorlaxownz) August 5, 2022
PlayStation previously addressed NFTs before. Last month, Sony launched a new PlayStation Stars loyalty program that allowed players to earn digital collectibles such as figurines of its iconic characters. However, Sony clarified that these digital collectibles in the program are not NFTs as they do not utilize any blockchain technology.
Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad notes that this survey at EVO isn’t related to the PlayStation Stars program and that the term “digital collectibles” is only just a term that is commonly used interchangeably with NFTs.
The gaming industry has been vocal against NFTs. Big players such as Valve banned NFTs from Steam, and Xbox’s Phil Spencer says that NFTs, in their current iteration, are more exploitative than creative. Other companies, however, like Square Enix have started to embrace them. Square Enix recently started selling a Final Fantasy VII figure of Cloud that functions as a NFT.
PlayStation acquired EVO last year. It’s unclear what stance Sony is taking towards NFTs, as the PlayStation Stars program doesn’t have them. However, this survey at EVO implies that they could still be under consideration.

Xûr's location can be found at Winding Cove in the EDZ on August 5 through August 9. To reach him, travel to the landing point at Winding Cove. My top picks this week are Vulpecula with Killing Wind and Adagio, and Gnawing Hunger with Field Prep and Rampage. Not much else jumps out at me, but those two are quite good in this humble Guardian's opinion.

The best thing Warlocks have to offer this week are the boots, with 64 overall stat points with a pretty even distribution, but those are only really good if you've got a specific use case so I can only tepidly recommend them. Nothing else is worth considering.

Most of the armor for Titans this week is just okay overall with no especially spikey rolls, so I have a hard time getting very excited. Sorry, Titans!

Similar to Titans, there aren't many things to get jazzed about this week in the legendary armor category. Thankfully Hunters have the amazing roll of Lucky Pants to be happy about.

Kevin Feige, Edgar Wright, and James Gunn Have Reached Out to the Batgirl Directors
Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have been inundated with support from fellow filmmakers, including Kevin Feige, Edgar Wright, and James Gunn.
After Batgirl was unceremoniously canceled just a few days ago, El Arbi was contacted by Marvel CEO Kevin Feige who offered his support.
“My friends, I had to reach out and let you know we are all thinking about you both,” said Feige, whose email to El Arbi was revealed via Instagram. “Because of the wonderful news about the wedding (congrats!) and the disappointing news about Batgirl. Very proud of you guys for all the amazing work you do and particularly Ms. Marvel of course! Can’t wait to see what is next for you. Hope to see you soon.”
This message of support is a stark contrast to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav’s comments that suggest Batgirl wasn’t up to scratch.
“We're not going to release any film before it's ready,” he said. “We're not going to release a film to make a quarter, we're not going to release a film — the focus is going to be, how do we make each of these films, in general, as good as possible. But DC is something that we think we could make better, and we're focused on it now.”
Warner Bros. Discovery has since announced a new 10-year plan for DC films going forward… but the upheaval hasn’t gone down well, even with those inside the company.
DC films president Walter Hamada was reportedly on the brink of quitting over the high-profile cancellation of Batgirl. Meanwhile, the company has even begun ditching HBO Max Originals – a move that’s left critics and pundits wondering exactly what Warner Bros. Discovery is doing.
Still, actors and filmmakers alike have rallied around the Batgirl directors.
“I feel blessed to have worked among absolute greats and forged relationships for a lifetime in the process!” said the film’s star, Leslie Grace. “To every Batgirl fan - THANK YOU for the love and belief, allowing me to take on the cape and become, as Babs said best, ‘my own damn hero!’”
Even Jams Gunn and Edgar Wright reportedly reached out to the directors to show their support.
“Thanks for all the messages of support all over the world!” said El Arbi via Instagram. “Shoutout to directors @edgarwright & @jamesgunn! Your kind words and experience mean a lot and help us through this difficult period. #batgirlforlife”
It clearly means a lot to see so many messages of support, especially coming from Gunn and Wright. After all, both directors have experienced the difficulties of cancellation when it comes to superhero projects.
Wright famously worked on Marvel’s Ant-Man until he left due to creative differences, while Gunn was once fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 before eventually behind rehired.
Still, it’s a troubling time for DC filmmakers, and you have to wonder which other DC projects could be next. For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
Want to find out more about the Warner Bros. Discovery shake-up? We break down exactly what happened to Batgirl and take a look at which other DC heroes are facing the axe.

Batgirl Director Shares an Image of Leslie Grace and Michael Keaton in Costume
Batgirl director Adil El Arbi has shared an image of Leslie Grace's Batgirl standing face to face with Michael Keaton's Batman.
The photo, shared on Adil El Arbi's Instagram story, shows Grace and Keaton in their full costumes, standing in the gloomy streets of Gotham, accompanied by their director.
The now-cancelled film would have featured Keaton as Wayne, a revival of his role from the Tim Burton era of Batman films. This would be one of two different occasions in which he'd wear the cowl for the DCEU; he's set to play Batman in the upcoming Flash movie, too.
Warner Bros. officially cancelled Batgirl earlier this week. It was planned to be a smaller scale DC movie, and was produced on a tighter budget than the likes of Justice League, but now it won't even see the light of day on streaming services, nevermind a theatrical release. As such, this photo is a rare look at both the Batgirl we'll likely never see, as well as Keaton's return to his iconic role.
For more from Batgirl, read how Leslie Grace has thanks fans for their support, and why DC Films' president reportedly was on the brink of quitting over the movie's cancellation.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Might Be Getting an Iron Man-Inspired Armor Set
Assassin's Creed Valhalla seems primed to introduce an armor set that references Iron Man.
As spotted by Eurogamer, dataminer AndyReloads has found some sleek new armor hidden in the game’s files, which could be released in a future update. The Advanced Mechanicals Armor Set gives users the ability to use a chest-mounted energy beam, much the same as Iron Man’s unibeam.
The set comes in two colorways, with the Copper edition very much looking like Iron Man's red and gold attire. A second Iron version is a sleek white take that looks more akin to a Star Wars Stormtrooper. Neither includes a specific reference to the movies in question, so these seem to be cheeky references rather than an official crossover.
While wearing this new armor set, your Battle Cry ability is replaced with the unibeam – a forward-firing beam of energy that seemingly does area of effect and fire damage.
Additionally, the Advanced Mechanicals Armor Set includes a few other bits and pieces:
- Gore-Ripper One-Handed Sword
- Caladcholg Greatsword
- A seemingly Horizon Forbidden West-inspired mount
- Robot skin for Synin
- Animus-inspired Longship theme
When these new items will become available in-game remains to be seen, especially as AndyReloads has previously posted about a still-unreleased set that seems to reference Thanos as far back as May.
