After news about the delay of the Obi-Wan Kenobi live-action series starring Ewan McGregor created a disturbance in the Force, we're anxiously awaiting more adventures set in a galaxy far, far away. Luckily, Disney+ has plenty more Star Wars content lined up for us in February: The streamer recently revealed the release date and a new trailer for Season 7 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the long-running series from beloved creator Dave Filoni. The Birds of Prey movie may be based on the comic book series of the same name, but it's also drawing inspiration from an unexpected source. Jurnee Smollett-Bell revealed her version of Black Canary is inspired by the one seen in the 2017 video game Injustice 2. Smollett-Bell revealed this video game connection during a recent group interview attended by IGN. She told reporters the game was a major source of inspiration, particularly when it came to depicting Dinah Lance's powerful Canary Cry. "I drew a lot of inspiration for the Canary Cry from the Black Canary in Injustice 2. Even physically," she said. "For me, I really wanted to make it primal... It's not something she uses, it's something she's trying to hide. So to get to that point, she has to rev herself up. It's such a guttural point and a guttural place." The studio was working in collaboration with Sony to create a “strong bridge” between the original game and The Last of Us Part 2. The short film would act as a “previously on” to allow both new and old fans to catch up on the story. “In anticipation of The Last of Us II, we were asked to create a compelling short film depicting the main characters Joel and Ellie as they retell their dramatic story chronicled in the original game,” the website states. Oddfellows cites the Blade Runner 2049 animated prequel and The Animatrix as influences, with this short film having a very different art design than the video game. “Our proposal was to reinterpret each of the chapters of the game with a unique visual treatment. Using singular narrative devices would allow us to bridge the styles and travel seamlessly between the past and present. Ultimately Sony decided not to move forward with this project,” the website concludes. According to The Hollywood Reporter, China's leading cinema chains Wanda, CGV, Bona, Lumiere Pavillions, Jinyi, Dadi, amongst others, are officially shutting their doors as they take precautionary lockdown measures in response to the growing epidemic. It was also reported that Lucasfilm was trying to "reconfigure" Obi-Wan's six episodes into four as part of the redevelopment process, although when asked about the episode order being cut, McGregor told IGN, "I haven't heard that." PlayStation has confirmed the first event of the FIA certified Gran Turismo Championships 2020 season will take place in Sydney, Australia on February 15-16 The event promises 50 of the world’s fastest Gran Turismo racers from Europe, the Americas, and Asia going wheel-to-wheel with Australian and New Zealand competitors, including Cody Nikola Latkovski (who grabbed second in both the Nations Cup and Manufacturer Series at the 2019 World Finals in Monaco in November) plus Adam Wilk and 2015 GT Academy winner Matt Simmons.
