The top League of Legends tournament has been delayed to ensure the safety of all its attendees in China from the coronavirus outbreak.

The League of Legends Pro League (LPL) was due to return for its second week of matches in China on February 5, 2020. However, the LPL’s English Twitter account has now announced that the tournament has been postponed with no new date for its return currently set.

We have decided to postpone week 2 of the LPL until we can ensure the safety and health of our players and fans.

The reason for the delay is the outbreak of the highly contagious coronavirus in mainland China. The LPL is one of many professional sporting events held in China that have either been delayed until March 2020 or moved to another country due to the virus.

It was announced last week that 70,000 Chinese movie theatres were also being closed for the duration of the coronavirus outbreak.

The coronavirus has been confirmed to be deadly. The BBC reports that it has killed over 80 people, with nearly 3000 more people confirmed to have caught the virus. It has spread to South Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, Australia, Nepal, and as far as the USA, Canada, and France.

Since the coronavirus spread, sales of the strategy simulation game Plague Inc. soared, due to it being a game about containing a deadly pathogen. This caused developer Ndemic Creations to release a statement saying that the game is “not a scientific model” for how disease spreads.

Ndemic Creations added that people should visit the World Health Organization’s website to get a real idea of how viruses like the coronavirus spread and how to best avoid catching them.

Pacific Time Though earlier reports indicated that five people died as a result of the helicopter crash, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva stated during a press conference that a total of nine people (one pilot and eight other individuals) were onboard, according to a flight manifest. The Sheriff confirmed that there were no survivors, although he declined to confirm the identities of any passengers until a coroner's report has been filed and next of kin have been notified. Update - January 26 - 12:43 P.M. Pacific Time: It's now being said that Bryant's 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Maria, was one of the other victims of the crash. TMZ has more information now, reporting that Bryant's daughter Gianna was among those killed. In their update: "Kobe's daughter Gianna Maria -- aka GiGi -- was also on board the helicopter and died in the crash ... reps for Kobe tell TMZ Sports. She was 13." "We're told they were on their way to the Mamba Academy for a basketball practice when the crash occurred. The Academy is in nearby Thousand Oaks." Emergency personnel responded, but nobody on board survived. 5 people are confirmed dead." He's an 18-time All-Star, 15-time member of the All-NBA Team, 12-time member of the All-Defensive team and was the NBA's Most Valuable Player in 2008. Fellow NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar posted a heartfelt video tribute to Bryant, saying the loss of Bryant is "hard to comprehend."

The NBA Players Association has released a statement regarding the death of Bryant. "We are stunned and devastated by the news of the sudden passing of Kobe Bryant," the statement said. "Words cannot express his impact on our Players, the NBA and the game of basketball. This is a monumental loss for the entire basketball community and our hearts are quite simply broken. We send love and prayers out to his wife Vanessa and the entire family." President Barack Obama also tweeted out his condolences to the Bryant family. The Academy also recognized Bryant for the Oscar he won for "Dear Basketball," which won Best Animated Short Film in 2018. Kobe Bryant was 41. Two new Silent Hill games are in the works, according to a new report from a reliable leaker, via Eurogamer.

Twitter user Aesthetic Gamer was the first to drop the new report. Aesthetic Gamer is known for reliably leaking previous Capcom titles (although Silent Hill is developed and published by Konami), and divulged some details about the supposed two new Silent Hill games. According to Aesthetic Gamer, one game will be a “soft” reboot of the franchise while the other will be an episodic experience similar to Telltale games or Until Dawn.

“In other news while I'm dropping this stuff, and I think I can talk about this, I'll mention there is a couple new Silent Hill games in the works,” Aesthetic Gamer said. “Konami about two years ago reached out to various developers to pitch ideas for two Silent Hill games, one a soft-reboot of the franchise, the other an episodic TellTale/Until Dawn-style game to go alongside the reboot. I don't know anything more than that though, but I sure do hope Konami's given it the appropriate budget and found the right developer to make those games succeed.”

Aesthetic Gamer closed out their comments by saying that they don’t know anything more about the alleged Silent Hill games, just that they exist. They also said that they guess one or more of the games may be revealed this year.

One leaker’s information wouldn’t be that much to go on, but other signs do point to developments that bolster the case for a new Silent Hill game or two existing. Silent Hill 2 art director Masahiro Ito said that he was working on “a title as a core member. I hope the title won’t be canceled.”

Though Ito never confirmed as much, fans speculated that Ito’s “I hope the title won’t be canceled” comment could be a reference to Hideo Kojima’s infamously canceled Silent Hills game, which was preceded by the even more infamous P.T. (“Playable Teaser”) demo that spooked horror game fans back in 2014. For what it’s worth, Konami has also been spotted refiling Silent Hill trademarks that were about to lapse. Horror media site Rely on Horror also said that its own independent source also said a new Silent Hill game was in development.

And speaking of Kojima, the developer has seemingly waffled back and forth on whether or not he’d pursue a horror game after the cancelation of Silent Hills. Kojima posted a picture of his workspace, saying he was working on the concept for his next game. That said, don’t count on Kojima to work with Konami after their very public breakup following the release of Metal Gear Solid 5. He also seems to have his hands full with plans to develop smaller games, manga, and anime.

Konami has not commented on any of the reports as of yet, so take everything leaked thus far with a grain of salt.

In the meantime, modders like Lance McDonald are using video game magic to escape the confines of P.T.'s haunted house and exploring the streets of Silent Hills.

Bad Boys for Life enjoyed its second week atop the box office, with an estimated $34 million. This brings the Will Smith/Martin Lawrence threequel to over $120 million domestically in only two weeks. That wasn't the only film to break $100 million domestically this week either. Per Variety, 1917 also broke that barrier, hitting at around $104 million after capturing the second place spot with an estimated $15.8 million for its third week of wide release. Meanwhile, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker broke the $500 million domestic mark this week, with its seventh place $5.1 million haul talking it over the top. After having been pushed back from its original release date of April 2018, Josh Boone's The New Mutants will finally hit theaters on April 3, 2020. And also, after years of delay, the film has gotten its first new poster since 2017. In this awesome new art you'll see New Mutants characters (originally intended to be part of the now-defunct Fox X-Men universe) Magik (Glass' Anya Taylor-Joy), Wolfsbane (GoT's Maisie Williams), Cannonball (Stranger Things' Charlie Heaton), Sunspot (The Stand's Henry Zaga), and Mirage (The Originals' Blu Hunt). The New Mutants not only represents the last gasp of Fox's X-Men shared universe, but it also tonally stands apart from the rest of the franchise as a horror movie, with no costumes or real supervillains. The poster itself gives off a darker, edgier vibe as well, with the heroes' skulls being revealed inside the title font. Update: It turns out that Nintendo Switch owners will not be getting Street Fighter V: Champion Edition any time soon. EB Games Canada released a subsequent tweet explaining that the messaging was an error on their part. "We posted a tweet advertising Street Fighter V: Champion Edition for the Nintendo Switch earlier this evening," EB Games Canada tweeted. "Please note that the details in this tweet were inaccurate, and were posted in error. The intention for the tweet was to highlight the PlayStation 4 version of the game. We apologize for any disappointment or confusion this may have caused." Adding to the pile, longtime Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono tweeted out that a Switch version of Street Fighter V does not exist right now. "Whaat!?" Ono tweeted. "No way, where can I get this product? ... Could it be that we didn’t realize that someone are making it? ;D Such item does not exist right now. Thanks!" Sad day for Street Fighter V fans who were hoping for a more portable version of the popular fighting game. At least fans still have the PS4 version of Champion Edition to look forward to on February 14. The mother of a pro Fortnite streamer received a "late Christmas present" recently, in a touching moment of charity and familial love in the video game space, according to The Loadout via PCGamesN. Aydan Conrad, who sports a follower count of 1.4 million people on Twitch, called his mother during a recent stream to inform her that he had paid off her student loans using the profit from his streaming career. Before he revealed his deed, Conrad's mother replied in typical motherly fashion, saying she didn't need anything.
