Two SNES Games Never Before Released in the US Coming to Switch Online

Two SNES game never before released in the United States are being added to the Nintendo Switch Online lineup for February 2020. According to Business Wire, the two SNES games coming to Nintendo Switch Online on February 19 - Pop'n TwinBee and Smash Tennis - have never had official releases in North America before now. They will be joined by two NES titles - Shadow of the Ninja and Eliminator Boat Duel. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/02/12/nintendo-switch-online-february-2020-game-updates"] Pop'n TwinBee is a vertically scrolling top down shooter developed by Konami which released in 1993 in Japan and then also in PAL regions but never made it to the United States. Smash Tennis also released in 1993, but was under the name Super Family Tennis in Japan and made by Namco. It gained the title Smash Tennis when it released in Europe in 1994. These two titles bring the number of SNES games available on Nintendo Switch Online to 52 since they became available back in September 2019. This makes it a grand total of 78 games on the service which include other cool unreleased games like Star Fox 2, which came out in last December's offering. Pokémon Home is Now Available on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android

Pokemon Home, the cloud-based Pokemon storage service, is now live on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. Pokemon Home allows trainers around the world to manage their collection of Pokemon across multiple games, trade with others, participate in Wonder Box and the Global Trade System, and much more. After downloading the free Pokemon Home App on either Nintendo Switch, iOS, or Android, users will also be given the option to upgrade to a Premium Plan for $2.99 (£2.69 on Switch / £2.99 on smartphones) for one month, $4.99 ($4.49 on Switch / £4.99 on smartphones) for three months, or $15.99 (£14.49 on Switch / £15.99 on smartphones) for 12 months. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/01/28/pokemon-home-price-features-and-bank-comparison"] The Premium Plan allows for transferring of Pokemon from Pokemon Bank to Pokemon Home, raises the deposited Pokemon limit from 30 to 6,000, lets users place 10 Pokemon in Wonder Box instead of 3 and have 3 Pokemon in Global Trade System instead of 1, allows for players to host in addition to participate in Room Trade, and gives the ability to utilize the Judge function. It's also important to note that there are differences between the Nintendo Switch version and mobile phone versions. The Nintendo Switch version of Pokemon Home does not allow for trading, receiving Mystery Gifts, and checking Battle Data and News. The mobile version, on the other hand, does not let trainers move Pokemon from Pokemon Sword, Pokemon Shield, Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu!, and Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee! or exchange Pokemon Home Points for BP (Battle Points). [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=pokemon-home-price-and-features&captions=true"] Pokemon Home will not be compatible with Pokemon GO at launch, but that functionality is currently being worked on. Unfortunately, there is no time table for its release. Pokemon Home will essentially replace the need for Pokemon Bank, and to learn more, be sure to check out our Pokemon Home Wiki Guide. Rian Johnson ‘Had a Blast’ Watching Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

While the fans and critics have all weighed in on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to divisive results, there are many who have been waiting to hear what The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson thinks of the film. Now, the wait is over. Johnson spoke to MTV while walking the red carpet for the 2020 Academy Awards and shared how he felt after watching JJ Abrams complete the Skywalker Saga. “I had a blast, man,” Johnson said. “Made me so proud and seeing the heart and soul that JJ put into it. And seeing my friends who were in the movie just like, bring the whole thing to a conclusion. Yeah, for me as a Star Wars fan, it was a really special experience.” Johnson clearly enjoyed himself watching the film, although he didn’t get into any specifics. If anything, Johnson would have reason to be miffed at how The Rise of Skywalker unfolded because it seemed to contradict, ignore, and outright retcon numerous things he did in The Last Jedi, from Rey’s parentage to the restoration of the Skywalker saber. Much has been made about how Abrams and co-writer Chris Terrio’s story went out of its way to “fix” things that certain fans didn’t like about The Last Jedi, but Johnson seems unbothered by any of that. Johnson also seems unbothered by the fact that Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose Tico, a character he created and introduced in The Last Jedi, was only given 90 seconds of screen time in The Rise of Skywalker. Regardless, Johnson has been enjoying the success of Knives Out, which earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay and has just received the green light for a sequel starring Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc. And despite rumors to the contrary, Johnson is still working on a series of new Star Wars movies for Disney. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Joshua is Senior Features Editor at IGN. Sonic Movie: Jim Carrey on the Evolution of Dr. Robotnik’s Look

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which is tracking to open with over $40 million during Presidents' Day weekend, not only boasts a fan-driven redesign but Oscar nominee Jim Carrey as the villainous Dr. Robotnik - a video game baddie who's been badgering Sonic for almost 30 years! So how did Carrey go about bringing the very unique-looking Robotnik to life? Well, hair styling, both on the head and face, were paramount. "First of all, we have to give a shout out to Anne Morgan who did my hair," Carrey told IGN. "She cut a swath through my hair. A nice thick part, so it could be seen from outer space." One of Robotnik's most striking features is - yup - the 'stache! "That mustache was the beginning of, you know, the first manifestation of evil." Carrey said. "An outward manifestation. With the curled up edges and stuff. It goes back to Dudley Do-Right and the old cartoon villains. The old movies and stuff. That little waxed edge of the mustache that just says 'I've just tied some girl to a railroad track. For no apparent reason.'" [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="legacyId=148938&captions=true"] Famously, Robotnik, originally named Dr. Eggman in Japan (but localized to Dr. Robotnik for America), is egg-shaped. A rotund mad scientist with a much different body type than Carrey's wiry frame. Though when asked if he'd considered gaining weight for the role, Carrey played coy. "Well, we all have our ideas." he said. "I've had many many ideas about where we might go with all that. So it's an evolution. It's evolution, baby." From the sound of things, we might leave the film with Robotnik in a state of change. "He ended up on the mushroom planet," Carrey explained, "and you never know what can happen on a mushroom planet." "Robotnik has not reached his apotheosis," Carrey teased. Activision Blizzard Pulls Games From Nvidia’s GeForce Now

Nvidia revealed that Activision Blizzard games will no longer be playable on its cloud gaming service, GeForce Now. In a statement, Nvidia said it is still working on creating its catalog of PC games that are accessible on GeForce Now. The company said, "this means continually adding new games, and on occasion, having to remove games – similar to other digital service providers." The statement said that it was Activision Blizzard's decision to remove the games from the platform. "Per their request, please be advised Activision Blizzard games will be removed from the service. While unfortunate, we hope to work together with Activision Blizzard to reenable these games and more in the future." This means games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Diablo III, Hearthstone, Overwatch, and more are no longer accessible on GeForce Now, less than a week after the service's official launch. You can try out GeForce Now with a free trial, or through the limited time Founders offer for $4.99 a month for a year. In our Nvidia GeForce Now review, we called the service "good," saying, "despite a janky interface and some atrocious catalogue holes, GeForce Now is a genuinely exciting service." Wonder Woman 1984 Actors Share New Details on Their Villains

Wonder Woman 1984 will see Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince opposed by a pair of villains: Maxwell Lord, played by Pedro Pascal, and Cheetah, played by Kristen Wiig. The actors talked to EW about their upcoming roles, explaining the thought behind their characters and how they challenge Wonder Woman.

Maxwell Lord

[caption id="attachment_2301355" align="aligncenter" width="720"]Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord. (Image credit: Warner Bros.) Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord. (Image credit: Warner Bros.)[/caption] The movie finds Wonder Woman living a lonely life of solitude. The downside to her divine longevity is that she out-lives everyone she knows, so she’s not only mourning the loss of Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) but the life she used to have decades ago when she first traveled to “man’s world.” As if in direct opposition to her spartan lifestyle, Maxwell Lord is the epitome of greed. EW describes the character as a mogul/guru, part Gordon Grekko and part Tony Robbins. “Max is a dream-seller,” Pascal explained. “It’s this character who encompasses a component of the [‘80s] which is, you know, ‘Get whatever want, however you can. You’re entitled to it!’ And at any cost, ultimately, which represents a huge part of our culture and this kind of unabashed — it’s greed. It’s f—ing greed, of course. But it’s also about ‘How do you be your best self? How do you win?’ So he’s definitely the face of that version of success.” Lord is a fitting enemy for Wonder Woman because he is perhaps the one man who can offer something the selfless hero wants. Though no plot details were shared, the going fan theory is that the seemingly impossible return of Steve Trevor has something to do with Lord. In the comics, Maxwell Lord went from being a normal person to a metahuman with psychic mind control powers, but it’s not clear what his deal will be in the film. A quick shot in the trailer shows him doing some sort of ritual, so he could possibly have abilities that are magical in nature. Perhaps he forms a pact with a dark god of some sort? Whatever he can do in the film, he will have the fortitude to throw down with the godly Wonder Woman, as EW says the action scene inside the White House is a battle against Lord. Cheetah

[caption id="attachment_2301357" align="aligncenter" width="720"]No images of Wiig's Cheetah have been released, so here's the villain as depicted in Injustice 2. (Image credit: Warner Bros.) No images of Wiig's Cheetah have been released, so here's the villain as depicted in Injustice 2. (Image credit: Warner Bros.)[/caption] While Wonder Woman may not fall for Lord’s temptations, her friend and co-worker at the Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C. most certainly does. Barbara Minerva is a sheepish gemologist who befriends the bold and confident Diana Prince, and through mystical means she transforms into the Cheetah, a fast and deadly feline creature. Becoming Cheetah brings out the worst in Barbara, and Wiig describes Barbara and Cheetah as two separate roles. “I’ve never really played someone who walks into the room and owns it — especially when she starts out so insecure and self-deprecating,” Wiig said. “We didn’t want to see Barbara in Cheetah, and I didn’t want to see Kristen in Cheetah, either.” Director Patty Jenkins explained the unique dynamic between Wonder Woman and Cheetah. It’s less about two diametrically opposed heroes and villains and more a hero trying to save a friend from herself. “In the lore, Cheetah is often someone who’s friends with Diana but jealous of her,” she said. “And I feel like Kristen’s playing a character who’s both ends of the spectrum — she’s your warm, funny friend who’s kind and interesting and then can transform into something completely different.” [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/06/18/cheetah-explained-who-is-the-wonder-woman-1984-villain"] What do you think of how these actors are approaching these Wonder Woman villains for the upcoming movie? The Hunt: Universal Sets New Release Date for Controversial Movie

The Hunt will release in theaters on Friday, March 13. Universal made the announcement in a press release with a new tagline: The most talked about movie of the year is the one nobody has seen … yet. Check out the poster and watch the new trailer below. The Hunt follows a group of rich liberals who hunt conservatives for sport. The movie's release was originally canceled about a month before the film's release after a summer of mass shootings and criticisms of the film's premise from conservatives. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/the-hunt-official-trailer-2"] Producer Jason Blum told Variety that it was not just the movie studio who wanted the movie delayed. "There was this wild kind of tornado of events, and it just seemed like the right thing to do," Blum said. "It was never our idea to have the movie be gone forever. We wanted to take it off the schedule so there could be time to process things and reintroduce the film to the world. That ended up taking three-to-four months." Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse, who previously worked on the HBO series Watchmen and The Leftovers, wrote the script for The Hunt. Lindelof feels better about the film after they've received more reactions from people who've actually seen it. "...as more and more people start to see it, we’ve gained confidence in the fact that this is not a dangerous movie," Linelof said. "This is not a provocative movie. This is not a divisive movie. I think the big shift between now and then is that more people have seen it and they’ve responded positively." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=59-movies-to-geek-out-over-in-2020&captions=true"] The Hunt stars Betty Gilpin, Ike Barinholtz, Emma Roberts, and Hilary Swank and is directed by Craig Zobel. It will release on the same day as the Vin Diesel action movie Bloodshot, the Britt Robertson drama I Still Believe, and the Dave Bautista comedy, My Spy. Blumhouse will next release Fantasy Island on Friday and The Invisible Man on February 28. They have another Purge movie on the way but are doubtful about Happy Death Day 3. Stardew Valley Dev Shares First Details on Two New Games

Stardew Valley developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone has revealed he is working on two new games, but says “don’t get too hyped” as they could be a long way from being released.

Originally tweeting that he is working on one non-farming game set in the world of Stardew Valley and another game that will also tie into that universe in some way, Barone shared more in-depth details about the projects with IGN over email.

“I'm purposely staying very vague about my new projects because I don't want to create a bunch of hype yet,” Barone first explained. “I like to work in peace without having pressure or external opinions about what I should do.”

He also said that his plate is very full with all his different projects currently, including continued work on Stardew Valley itself. He noted in a follow-up tweet that he’s “not setting out to make the next indie smash hit.”

With those expectations in place, Barone revealed to us that both projects are single-player, top-down 2D games with pixel art styles – presentations he said would be “familiar for anyone who has played Stardew Valley.”

[poilib element="quoteBox" parameters="excerpt=%22I've%20been%20approaching%20this%20game%20with%20the%20goal%20to%20surpass%20the%20quality%20of%20every%20aspect%20compared%20to%20Stardew%20Valley...%20I%20just%20have%20to%20put%20in%20the%201000's%20more%20hours%20of%20work%20necessary%20to%20finish%20it.%E2%80%9D"]

He described the first game listed in his tweet as “an ambitious project” that has been in slow development for several years while he simultaneously worked on Stardew Valley updates. “I have pretty much the entire, polished idea in my head, and just have to put it into the computer,” Barone said, explaining that it’s a daunting task to then bring that “finished-in-my-head” game into existence.

This game will also have 32x32 pixel tiles, which he described as “twice the ‘detail’ of Stardew Valley,” causing it to take much longer. “In general, I've been approaching this game with the goal to surpass the quality of every aspect compared to Stardew Valley... art, music, sound, narratives, etc...  and I think I have been achieving that so far. I just have to put in the 1000's more hours of work necessary to finish it.”

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/20/stardew-valley-is-coming-to-teslareally-ign-daily-fix"]

The second project mentioned in his initial tweet is something Barone says he started more recently, “just as a little thing to have fun with.” He said he’s developing this game in an organic way, similar to the creation of Stardew Valley where “I kind of just create one thing at a time and then let my intuition carry me to the next step.” Barone says it’s been fun to develop, and he hopes to one day make it a complete game, explaining it’s “hopefully smaller in scope so it won't take that long (but we'll see...).”

[poilib element="quoteBox" parameters="excerpt=%E2%80%9CI%20am%20thinking%20about%20what%20games%20I%20might%20release%20%E2%80%98this%20decade.%E2%80%99%E2%80%9D"]

Barone said he’s also been working on Stardew Valley alongside these projects, so he’s got his hands full.

“I spend almost every waking hour working on something,” he explained, but noted that he’ll be happy when these two games are released as he has ideas for even more after them. Barone said that being a solo-developer drastically stretches out the time scale of game development, saying “I am thinking about what games I might release ‘this decade.’”

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/08/07/stardew-valley-review-2018"]

That said, Barone has “faith that things will turn out well,” noting that his skills have improved a lot since Stardew Valley. And while we probably shouldn’t hold our breath for anything described above, he did tease that “there will be some interesting reveals coming this year though, for sure.”

Samsung Introduces the Galaxy Z Flip Foldable Phone

You’ve probably already seen the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip during its surprise Oscars ad, but today Samsung has finally fully revealed its next foldable phone. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the Galaxy Z Flip is more like a flip phone that splits the screen horizontally rather than vertically. The result is a clamshell device that’s a little thicker than your traditional smartphone but also shorter to easily store in your pocket. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=samsung-galaxy-z-flip&captions=true"] The exterior of the phone only has a tiny 1.1-inch Super AMOLED display for showing you notifications for calls, messages, and to act as a digital mirror for selfies. However, this device really comes to life when you open it up and transform it into a full-sized smartphone with a 6.7-inch screen. It looks and operates almost like any of Samsung’s other Galaxy devices when fully unfolded and that’s largely thanks to the new Ultra Thin Glass that actually folds. It looks like a much more solid and rigid display than the plastic film-like displays that most existing foldable phones use today. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Samsung also engineered a new three-stop hinge that lets you use the phone in a closed, semi-open, and open mode. In this middle stage mode, the phone two halves sit at a 90- to 135-degree angle. The two halves of the screen can also display different things at the same time with a feature called Flex Mode. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip With Flex Mode engaged you can watch a YouTube video on the top screen while you browse through comments or add your own on the bottom display. Alternatively, while looking at your image gallery you can have one image appear in full size on the top half of the screen and continue to browse your camera roll on the bottom half of the display. Beyond this new Flex Mode, Samsung also stressed that its new hide away hinge can block out dust more effectively than its previous attempt at a foldable phone. In a video demo, Samsung showed a cutaway of all the gears inside the hinge are now fully enclosed. Plus there's also a Fiber Shield, which is basically a brush tucked under the flexible screen designed to catch any errant dust. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip In terms of specs, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip comes with a 6.7-inch Full HD+ (2,636 x 1,080) Dynamic AMOLED main display while the cover display only measures 1.1-inches and has a resolution of 300 x 112. The whole device runs off a 64-bit Octa-Core Processor, which Samsung hasn't specifically named yet, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. For cameras you have a 12MP wide-angle and ultrawide rear cameras paired with a 10MP selfie camera. Lastly it has a 3,300 mAh dual battery. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip will be available starting on February 14 and it will retail for $1,380—which basically undercuts the $1,500 Moto Razr.
