PS5 Pre-Orders Could be Limited One per Household

On Reddit, users who dug into the source code for Sony’s direct.playstation.com — the company’s hardware retail website — discovered new references to the PlayStation 5 that seem to indicate that Sony will limit PlayStation 5 orders to one per household. According to user u/Kgarvey, source code in the PlayStation Direct website revealed an error message that could appear if customers attempt to order more than one PS5 consoles through the website. IGN verified the source code and can confirm its existence. The message found in the source code reads, “You can only purchase one version of the PS5 Console: Disc or Digital. You have already added one PS5 console to your cart.” [caption id="attachment_238189" align="alignnone" width="879"]ps5_error2 Capture by IGN.[/caption] Sony previously limited one console per household when it put the PlayStation 4 up for pre-order, so this is not particularly new for the company. What is different this time around is how Sony will be selling two different versions of the PS5 but will keep the one per household rule. Meaning you can only order the PS5 or PS5 digital, but not both at the same time. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=confirmed-playstation-5-games&captions=true"] So even if you’re hoping to order both a physical and digital PS5 console, there’s a chance you won’t be able to do it from the PlayStation Direct website. Though nothing is stopping you from ordering a second PS5 from another retailer. Other references in the source code unearthed a new label (captured by u/Kgarvey) Sony could potentially add to PS4 games that indicate that they’re PS5-compatible. This new label could be used to indicate which PS4 games are backward compatible with the PS5, but user u/Kgarvey also suggests it could be used to indicate if hardware like controllers is forward compatible. Sony could be planning to sell the PS5 directly to customers, but since there are already product pages for the PS5 live on sites like Amazon, Best Buy, and more likely means the PS5 pre-orders won’t be exclusive to Sony’s store. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/05/29/ps5-the-future-of-gaming-trailer"] The company also said that customers will be given plenty of notice before the PS5 goes up for pre-order, so when pre-orders do eventually go live customers will hopefully have plenty of information on when and where they can place their advance orders. Tenet Delayed Again: Warners Pulls Movie From Release Calendar

Christopher Nolan's Tenet has been indefinitely delayed. As reported by Variety, the long-awaited sci-fi movie has now vanished entirely from Warner Bros' release calendar. Tenet's original July 17 release had already been pushed back by the studio twice, with the most recent release date being August 12. Unfortunately, with the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to wreak havoc on the entertainment industry, it would seem Warners is no longer willing to attempt a summer release. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-delayed-movie-due-to-coronavirus-so-far&captions=true"] Interestingly, chairman Toby Emmerich hints the studio may abandon plans for a simultaneous global launch of Tenet, instead releasing the film in individual markets as the public health crisis allows. “We will share a new 2020 release date imminently for Tenet, Christopher Nolan’s wholly original and mind-blowing feature,” said Emmerich in a statement. “We are not treating Tenet like a traditional global day-and-date release, and our upcoming marketing and distribution plans will reflect that.” Based on Emmerich's statement, Warners is apparently still hoping to release Tenet in 2020, at least in some markets. Variety writes, "Sources at Warner Bros. stress that they will have to be flexible with its plans to release Tenet, which means it will not have a traditional theatrical rollout. Movie theaters overseas have already started to reopen, so there’s a chance it could launch internationally prior to a domestic release." Warners is also delaying another major release until well into next year. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It has been pushed back from September 11, 2020 until June 4, 2021. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/02/a-brief-history-of-time-in-christopher-nolan-movies"] As things currently stand, Disney's Mulan will be the first summer blockbuster to open in theaters, with a release date of August 21. However, Tenet's indefinite delay casts new doubt on whether Mulan will meet its latest release date. For more on how COVID-19 could affect the film industry, head here. The Russo Brothers Explain How Secret Wars Could Inspire MCU Return

Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo have revealed that a Secret Wars movie could tempt them back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In an interview with BroBible, the Russo brothers explained the reason why they would like to potentially adapt Secret Wars into a big-screen event, as Joe admitted that he was totally gripped by "scale of getting all of the heroes together" when he first read the comic book at the age of "10 or 11." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/04/10/avengers-infinity-war-directors-want-to-see-this-x-men-crossover"] "It was one of the first major books to do that — that was really event-storytelling to me at its finest," he said. "And what happens when you put all of those personalities together. I also like the idea of villains having to team up with heroes. [Anthony] and I like complicated relationships between heroes and villains, we like villains who believe they're heroes in their own stories, so it's all sort of built into this notion of Secret Wars. To execute something on the scale of Infinity War was directly related to the dream of Secret Wars, which is even larger in scale." Anthony backed his brother's comments, as he confirmed that he would be up for the challenge of a Secret Wars adaptation, saying, "It would be the biggest movie you could possibly imagine, so that's what really excites us about the story — the ambition of it is even bigger than the ambition of the Infinity Saga." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=marvel-cinematic-universe-every-upcoming-movie-and-tv-show&captions=true"] There have been two big installments of the Secret Wars storyline in Marvel Comics; 1984's original Secret Wars arc by Jim Shooter, Mike Zeck and Bob Layton and 2015's updated version of Secret Wars by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić. The original run was a massive crossover event that saw different superheroes and villains, including the X-Men, transported to Battleworld, while the 2015 run combined Marvel's classic Earth-616 universe with the Ultimate Universe. For more on Secret Wars, here are seven things you need to know before reading Marvel's big event storyline. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Adele Ankers is a Freelance Entertainment Journalist.
