Sam Neill Welcomes Back an ‘Old Friend’ on the Set of Jurassic World 3
The man with the hat is back! OK, so it's not Indiana Jones but a different hat-wearing scientist-adventurer from a Steven Spielberg production.
Actor Sam Neill posted a nostalgic photo to social media Tuesday from behind the scenes of Jurassic World: Dominion showing the hat of his character, Dr. Alan Grant.
Neill captioned the photo, "Hello old friend" and tagged his co-stars, the filmmakers and the respective trilogies that this 2021 sequel unites.
Eagle-eyed fans, however, will recognize the hat not as the iconic palm leaf straw hat Grant wore in the original 1993 movie but rather the brown felt fedora Neill's paleontologist protagonist wore in Jurassic Park III. Directed and co-written by Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic World: Dominion unites the casts of the Jurassic World and Jurassic Park films, including Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Omar Sy, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Neill. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/jurassic-park-the-t-rex-detail-you-never-noticed-and-other-secrets-revealed"] While we're not quite sure how Jurassic World: Dominion brings back Jurassic Park heroes Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler and Ian Malcolm, Sam Neill said the trio appear "all the way through" the film and aren't just cameos. Production on Jurassic World: Dominion recently resumed after shutting down in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Jurassic World: Dominion, which features the most animatronic dinosaurs of any film in the series, shifted its release date to June 11, 2021 due to production delays. Ryan Reynolds Trolls DC Fans With a Green Lantern Cameo in the Snyder Cut
Ryan Reynolds continued his years-long mockery of his Green Lantern movie by posting a new social media video that not only re-edits the notorious 2011 flop but also manages to poke fun at Snyder Cut fans, Dwayne Johnson, and even Tom Cruise.
"I’m not playing Hawkman in Black Adam. Although I generally do whatever the hell @TheRock tells me to do," Reynolds posted Tuesday, tagging Johnson, who is his co-star in Hobbs & Shaw and the upcoming Netflix action film Red Notice.
(Johnson, as IGN audiences should know, will play Shazam nemesis Black Adam in an upcoming film about the DC Comics antihero.)
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=dc-extended-universe-every-upcoming-movie&captions=true"]
Reynolds continued, "I would however love to be in Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie and I’ve heard I may already be in it? #SnyderCut"
The Deadpool star then posted a followup message proclaiming, "Here’s the secret Reynolds Cut of GL you all haven’t been waiting for. In order to make it as great as possible we made some judicious cuts."
The attached video shows footage of Reynolds' "death scene" from Deadpool, a wildly cut down version of 2011's Green Lantern, a quick glimpse of Tom Cruise in Top Gun, and finally Reynolds' Hal Jordan inserted into the ending of 2017's Justice League.
While Reynolds' Green Lantern won't really be in The Snyder Cut, which will debut on HBO Max next year, that doesn't mean fans have seen the last of the Emerald Knight in live-action. HBO Max is developing a Green Lantern series that will boast "cinematic production values" and will feature the ring slinger's archenemy Sinestro. And for more on Zack Snyder's Justice League, watch this clip of Henry Cavill's Superman in his black costume, read why Zack Snyder refuses to use a "single frame" of Joss Whedon footage in The Snyder Cut, and learn why The Snyder Cut is not part of the DCEU. Marvel’s Avengers Easter Egg Could Hint at Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye Appearance
A recent Marvel's Avengers War Table may have contained an Easter Egg that hints at a future appearance by Kate Bishop's Hawkeye.
Clint Barton's Hawkeye was recently confirmed to be joining Marvel's Avengers as a playable hero post-launch, and some concept art and a mention of the My Life as A Weapon comic may be teasing fans of a future appearance by Kate Bishop, as a playable hero or otherwise.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/29/hawkeye-reveal-trailer-for-marvels-avengers-4k"]
Our detective work begins back at Marvel's Avengers first War Table where Kamala Khan finds an old photo of the Avengers Crew, which includes Tony Stark (Iron Man), Thor, Steve Rogers (Captain America), Natasha Romanova (Black Widow), Bruce Banner (Hulk), and Clint Barton (Hawkeye), standing together in their street clothes.
As you can see in the image below, Hawkeye is sporting a bullseye logo.
This is important because in Hawkeye's official reveal, a different logo is shown.
This could simply mean Barton retired the old logo for a new one following the disaster that struck the Avengers, but a piece of concept art shared with his reveal hints at another story.
Crystal Dynamics was very clear in stating that My Life as A Weapon, by writer Matt Fraction and artist David Aja, was the team's favorite comic arc for Hawkeye. The aforementioned concept art, which includes that old logo, was also drawn from this comic.
Why does this matter? Because Hawkeye Volume 1: My Life as A Weapon includes Young Avengers Presents #6, which tells the story of Clint Barton and Kate Bishop's first meeting.
While this obviously could just be a nod to Hawkeye's past, Kate Bishop is a very popular character that would be a welcome addition to Marvel's Avengers. This makes even more sense when you consider she will be appearing in Marvel's Hawkeye series on Disney+.
While only time will tell if this ends up being true, what's wrong with a little glimmer of hope?

PS4 Sales Top 112 Million Units
PlayStation 4 sales have surpassed 112 million units, Sony announced today as part of its quarterly earnings report.
During the first quarter of its fiscal year (April 1–June 30), Sony reported PS4 sales of 1.9 million units, bringing its lifetime sales total to 112.3 million. The year-over-year decrease — Sony sold 3.2 million PS4s during the same time frame in 2019 — was expected considering the approaching launch of PlayStation 5.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=playstation-5-and-playstation-5-digital-edition-console-design-images&captions=true"]
Overall revenue from Sony's Game & Network Services division was up 32% compared to the same quarter last year, thanks to strong software and subscription sales. The company sold 91 million software units during the quarter, according its supplemental report, with 18.5 million of those being first-party titles. Sony released The Last of Us Part II in June, which became the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive ever by moving four million copies in its first three days.
74% of all PlayStation game sales last quarter were digital, a significant bump compared to 53% from the same period last year. Digital spending has increased across the industry throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to record video game-related spending in the U.S earlier this year. Sony is well-positioned to capitalize on the market shift with an all-digital PlayStation 5 option this holiday.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/03/ps5-digital-vs-xbox-lockhart-buying-next-gen-on-a-budget-next-gen-console-watch"]
PS Plus subscriptions, meanwhile, rose to 44.9 million. As noted by GamesIndustry.biz, its quarterly jump of 3.4 million subscriptions is one of the largest in company history. Monthly Active Users, which Sony defines as the estimated number of unique accounts that engaged with the PlayStation Network in June, reached 113 million. For comparison, Microsoft reported "nearly 90 million" monthly active Xbox Live users at the end of April.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare & Warzone: Full Season 5 Details Revealed
Call of Duty Modern Warfare's Season 5 begins on Friday, August 5, and the full details include major changes to the Warzone map, unlockable music tracks for vehicles, new multiplayer maps, and much more.
After weeks of teases, Season 5 arrives in a massive patch (that will apparently shrink your game file), and we have all the major details below:
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=call-of-duty-warzone-season-5-images&captions=true"]
Warzone Season 5 - Map Changes
- The Stadium Opens: After 4 seasons closed, Verdansk Stadium has now opened up, featuring a cover-strewn football pitch, rows of seating, underground parking and multiple routes of entrance and exit.
- Freight Train Added: A huge new train will now be circling the Southwestern part of the map at all times, allowing for an interesting new dynamic for squads, who could take it over and hold carriages while on the move.
- Train Station Opens: To celebrate the addition of the train itself, the Verdansk Train Station is now also open, including a main ticket hall, platforms, and plenty of new indoor areas to explore.
- Exterior Ascenders: Tall building roofs were previously only accessible by dropping form the air, or riding an elevator cable, making them relatively easily defensible. The new season complicates matters a bit, by adding exterior cables to multiple buildings, offering new points of access to take down snipers.
Warzone Season 5 - New Mode, Weapons and Customisation
- Mini Royale Mode: This is a fast-paced variant of the classic Warzone BR experience, lowering the number of players, and only including the first and last five minutes of the normal experience - essentially, it should be faster and bloodier.
- New Weapon Pickups: Items in supply crates have been rotated once more, adding eight Common, 13 Uncommon, 15 Rare, 19 Epic, and 25 Legendary different variants to discover and equip.
- Wartracks: A new customisation option, Wartracks are unlockable songs that can be attached to vehicles like paint jobs or horn noises, and will play for yourself and all passengers when you're driving. Three Wartracks will be available on day one, and all will be instantly unlocked if you purchase the Battle Pass.
Multiplayer Season 5 - New Maps
- Livestock (Gunfight Map): A rural compound with a central barn, this Gunfight map includes a large central area with multiple flank routes.
- Petrov Oil Rig (6v6 Map): Split into five sections this oil rig map includes a lifeboat muster area, helicopter pad, bridge, cafeteria and rig drill. It's designed for close to mid-range combat with small areas with sniper-friendly sightlines.
- Suldal Harbor (6v6 Map): This port area is peppered with choke points ideal for snipers to watch, but multiple interior or cramped areas for close range attacks.
- Verdansk International Airport (Ground War Map): Based on the Warzone area, the airport include a large indoor area, along with huge open runways and hangars.
Multiplayer Season 5 - New Modes and Missions
- Bare Bones: A new playlist of TDM, Domination, HQ, Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed maps with a crucial twist - no killstreaks, field upgrades or perks.
- Search and Destroy Double Down: A larger version of Search & Destroy - it's 12v12, not 6v6.
- New Mastery Challenges: For "the most elite players", there are more than a dozen new challenges to max out your weaponry skills.

Season 5 Battle Pass
- Instant Unlocks: Buying the new Battle Pass will immediately earn you a new Operator, Lerch, the head of the new Shadow Company faction. You'll also receive three Wartracks, the a Rodion Opeartor skin, and a 10% XP boost for the season.
- New Weapons: At Tier 15, players will unlock the new ISO SMG, a close range, lightweight gun with rapid rate of fire. At Tier 31, you'll unlock the AN-94 AR with a "hyperburst" feature that fires a full-auto volley, followed by a second round, without much recoil. Both of these are free to all players once the Tier level is reached.
- New Unlocks: Other new Battle Pass unlocks include skins for multiple characters, the Nevermore finisher (where a raven kills your opponent), 15 new weapon blueprints, and a Compass watch.
- Tier 100 Unlocks: Reaching the top Battle Pass tier will net you the Rook skin for Roze, the Veil vehicle skin, and The Company's Might, an Assault Rifle Lima with negative tracer rounds.
