Marvel Celebrates Wolverine’s Gory Side In Stylish New Series
Marvel Comics has announced a new ongoing X-Men series called Wolverine: Black, White & Blood. As the name suggests, the series is marked by a distinctive art style rendered only in shades of black, white and red.
While Marvel's current Wolverine comic is set firmly within the new Dawn of X status quo, Black, White & Blood is a standalone anthology series that explores various untold stories throughout Wolverine's long life. The first issue will feature three short stories - a Weapon X tale from writer Gerry Duggan and artist Adam Kubert, a Wolverine and Nick Fury-centric spy-ops story from Matthew Rosenberg and artist Joshua Cassara and a tale set in the era of Grant Morrison's New X-Men from writer/artist Declan Shalvey.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=wolverine-black-white-blood-1-preview&captions=true"]
In terms of visual style, Wolverine: Black, White & Blood is similar to DC's Harley Quinn: Black + White + Red series. Unlike that digital-first book, however, Black, White & Blood will ship monthly and be released simultaneously in print and digital formats. Future creators will include Vita Ayala, Chris Claremont, Saladin Ahmed, Donny Cates, Ed Brisson, Kelly Thompson, Greg Land, Salvador Larroca, Kev Walker, Chris Bachalo and Leonard Kirk.
“I can’t stress how exciting it is getting all of these pages from the absolutely killer level of talent assembled for this book," series editor Mark Basso told Marvel.com. "It’s become a hype cliché, but you’ve really never seen anything quite like this from Marvel Comics. And you’ve only seen a fraction of the first issue…”
"This is a real career highlight for me," said Shalvey. "I've written Old Man Logan, I've drawn RETURN OF WOLVERINE, but getting to write and draw Wolverine in a moody, stripped down story is a real jewel in my crown, as it were. Not only that, but to showcase my work in black and white with the added tool of a stylized red really opens up interesting storytelling possibilities. I get to take a stab (pun intended) at one of my absolute favorite characters and depict him in a more definitive way."
Wolverine: Black, White & Blood #1 will be released in November 2020.

Did Furiosa Become a Villain? George Miller Muses on the Fury Road Character’s Fate
What happened to Furiosa following the events of Mad Max: Fury Road? The film's director, George Miller, has pondered that very question.
In an interview with Josh Horowitz, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Miller discussed what he thinks happened to her after the events of that movie.
For Miller, there are two possible fates for Furiosa. The director sees her as happy in one and as a villain in the other.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-25-best-sci-fi-movies&captions=true"]
"One is utopian, which is not an interesting story," Miller said. "I've somehow imagined that the first thing she would do in line with that, is go up and release the water."
Miller pointed out that it's not likely this happened and that instead, she becomes more of a tyrant or villain. He said Joseph Campbell's line of thinking about archetypal heroes and villains is what has led him to this possible fate for Furiosa.
"Campbell said that the usual story is that today's hero becomes tomorrow's tyrant," Miller said. "The hero is the agent of change. They basically relinquish self-interest in order for some common good. (Campbell) basically says...you love what you've built or saved too much. You become holdfast. You become the orthodoxy. You develop the dogma and basically then you have to protect it. That tends to be the rhythm of these things."

Miller likes to believe that Furiosa is too smart to "fall into that trap" as she's already seen it with Immortan Joe, who he believes went through the same character arc.
Maybe after learning more about Furiosa in her Mad Max spin-off movie, we'll better understand her fate after Fury Road. The New Mutants' Anya Taylor-Joy is reportedly up for the role of Furiosa in that movie, although nothing has been officially confirmed.
Taylor-Joy's potential casting has original Furiosa actor Charlize Theron heartbroken that she won't be returning to the character.

UPDATE: Kevin Hart has confirmed the reports that he will star in a Planes, Trains and Automobiles remake with Will Smith.
Hart provided a statement on his verified Instagram account on Monday afternoon with a snapshot of an article headline.
"I’ve been patiently waiting for the right project to team up with my brother with," Hart said in the caption. "We found it and are developing it together with our teams. This will be huge for us and the city of brotherly love aka Philadelphia..... let’s goooooo @willsmith."
Smith has not commented on the news on his verified Instagram, Facebook or YouTube account yet.
The original story from earlier today is below.

ORIGINAL STORY: Planes, Trains & Automobiles is reportedly being remade with Will Smith and Kevin Hart in the starring roles.
Variety reports that Smith and Hart will also produce the movie and Aeysha Carr, who previously wrote and produced Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Carmichael Show, will write the script. The remake reportedly has the same plot as the original where two strangers must work together to make it home to their families.
The original movie was released in 1987 and starred Steve Martin and John Candy. It was written and directed by John Hughes, and the first movie directed by Hughes after Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Planes, Trains & Automobiles ended up as the 25th highest grossing movie of 1987 worldwide, which is ahead of movies like Full Metal Jacket, Wall Street and Spaceballs.

It marks another remake for Smith, who recently came off a live-action remake of Disney's Aladdin where he played the Genie. It's currently the biggest box office hit of Smith's career. Smith is also reportedly producing a remake of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that reimagines the show as a drama.
Hart recently starred in a remake of The Intouchables with Bryan Cranston and a sequel to the rebooted Jumanji. He will next be seen in the drama movie Fatherhood, which is currently set to hit movie theaters in April 2021.

Guess Who’s Narrating Ready Player Two?
Wil Wheaton is heading back to the OASIS.
The Star Trek: The Next Generation and Teen Titans Go! actor will narrate the upcoming audiobook for Ready Player Two, author Ernest Cline's long-awaited sequel novel.
Publisher Random House made the announcement Monday via social media:
Will Wheaton[/caption]
Director Steven Spielberg adapted Ready Player One as a movie in 2018 that starred Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Lena Waithe, T.J. Miller, Simon Pegg, and Mark Rylance.
In our positive Ready Player One review, we called the film "far more than just a reference-fest. It’s an action film first, both in the relatively bland real world and in the colorful, over-the-top virtual one, and carries Steven Spielberg’s affinity for thoughtful timing and some genuinely thrilling sequences."

Wil Wheaton will next host the reality competition series Gamemaster, which will pit amateur games against one another for a $100,000 prize.
Wheaton previously narrated the audiobook for Ready Player One. A follow-up nearly a decade in the waiting, Ready Player Two will be published November 24, 2020. New ‘Cyborg’ Technology Moves One Step Closer to Reality
Researchers are taking steps toward integrating electronics with the body as part of a new cyborg technology that could enable future diagnostic monitoring.
According to Phys.org, a team from the University of Delaware have conducted tests to determine whether an antistatic coating would help electronic displays to be implanted into an individual's brain or muscle tissue in a less invasive manner, as the scars caused by surgically implanted systems typically prevent the devices electric signals from operating efficiently.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/07/17/how-alita-battle-angels-manga-eyes-make-the-cyborg-human"]
The report notes the test results, "found that the polymer had the properties necessary for interfacing hardware and human tissue," and "dramatically improved the performance of medical implants by lowering their impedance two to three orders of magnitude, thus increasing signal quality and battery lifetime in patients."
"These conjugated polymers are electrically active, but they are also ionically active," explained David Martin, Ph.D., who led the study. "Counter ions give them the charge they need so when they are in operation, both electrons and ions are moving around."
Dr Martin says that, "his dream is to be able to tailor how these materials deposit on a surface and then to put them in tissue in a living organism," as the application of such devices could be used to monitor the body's internal systems for the early stages of disease, tumor development or even act as a stand-in material for damaged tissues.
