Naomi: New DC Series in Development at The CW
The CW could soon be adding yet another DC series to its ever-growing superhero lineup. Deadline reports the network is developing an adaptation of Naomi, based on the 2019 limited series from writers Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker and artist Jamal Campbell.
Naomi is being developed by New Gods director/co-writer Ava DuVernay and former Arrow writer/co-executive producer Jill Blankenship. DuVernay and Blankenship are both writing and executive producing the new series. Naomi will be produced through DuVernay’s Array Filmworks in association with Warner Bros Television.
Naomi revolves around a new teen heroine named Naomi McDuffie (her surname being a tribute to the late Dwayne McDuffie). Her eponymous comic series explores her struggle to come to terms with her newfound powers and her unusual role in the DC Universe. The character has also gone on to play a recurring role in Bendis' Young Justice comic.
The official logline for Naomi reads, “'Naomi' follows a teen girl’s journey from her small northwestern town to the heights of the multiverse. When a supernatural event shakes her hometown to the core, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, and what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes."
Deadline doesn't specify whether Naomi is meant to be part of the Arrowverse, but given Blankenship's prior resume and the fact that the comic hinges on Naomi's place within the larger DCU superhero community, it seems likely the series will take place in the same world as The Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman and the various other DC shows on The CW.

Naomi is one of several new DC series in development at The CW. The network will be debuting Superman & Lois in February 2021, and we recently learned about a new Wonder Girl series focused on Yara Flor, a character who will soon be making her comic book debut as part of DC's Future State crossover. Black Lightning is also reportedly getting a spinoff focused on Jordan Calloway's Painkiller, one which seems intended to replace its parent series following its fourth and final season. Arrow was also expected to get a spinoff of its own in the form of Green Arrow and the Canaries, but there's been little word on that project since Arrow ended its eight season run in early 2020.

Crash Bandicoot: Check Out New On the Run Gameplay
Crash Bandicoot made his return with a brand new games on consoles this year with Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, but the bandicoot will be back again soon in a new adventure coming to mobile. And IGN has a new look at gameplay from Crash Bandicoot: On the Run!
Watch the video above for a new look at four levels in On the Run, and read on for some more details about what to expect from these areas in the upcoming mobile runner.
Great Gate
Great Gate will see Crash attempting to scale a massive wooden grate, running across raised wooden platforms while using iron jump crates, returning from mainstay Crash games, to reach new heights. Venus Fly trap enemies are among the foes players will encounter. The official description reads:"Deep in native villages and high amongst the treetops, the Great Gate is a sight to behold, even though Uka Ukahas scared all the villagers away. But if you start feeling above it all, there are plenty of thorny traps –and a couple Bandicoot eating plants –all too happy to bring you back down to earth."
Sewer or Later
Sewer or later brings the underground level from Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back... well, back into the spotlight, as Crash scours the sewer tunnels for collectibles, fights scrubbers and spiders, and avoids barrels. The official description reads:"Dark, dank and dangerous, if you run into any Scrubber Bubbletrons down here, then watch out, they’re here to clean up the sewers –and that includes pesky Bandicoots!"[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=crash-bandicoot-on-the-run-first-screenshots&captions=true"]
Dino-Might
Revisiting the prehistoric swampland players traversed in Crash Bandicoot: Warped, Dino-Might will allow players to collect special items as they avoid lava traps, firey boulders, and intimidating geysers. The level's official description reads:"Thick sludgy swamps, dinosaur bones, volcanic lava ... yup, this prehistoric track is hot-to-trot. No sweat for a blazing fast Bandicoot, though, right?"
Snow Go
On the Run features two snow levels: Bear It! and Snow Go, with the latter being featured in the gameplay above. Avoid pressing machines, robo-penguins, and robo-seals as you run through the level. Oh, and there are falling stalactites to further hamper your progress, too. The official description is:"This winter wonderland looks heavenly, but there’s a no time for snow angels -stay frosty and watch out for robo-penguins and roboseals."[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/09/crash-bandicoot-on-the-run-announce-trailer"] Mobile publisher King confirmed On the Run! earlier this year, with a launch planned on iOS and Android phones. Those who pre-register will receive the Blue Hyena Skin from Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled at launch. Enemies like Dr. Neo Cortex, Dingodile, and more will appear, with levels offer secret paths and boss battles. Players will also have a base for Crash and Coco that can be built up and customized, and asynchronous multiplayer is also planned. PAX Reveals Tentative 2021 Convention Dates
PAX has revealed its tentative calendar for conventions set to take place in 2021. This includes PAX East, PAX West, PAX AUS, and PAX Unplugged.
In a statement put out on Twitter, the PAX team revealed that events will begin in the latter half of the year. The dates are as follows:
- PAX East: June 3-6, 2021
- PAX West: September 3-6, 2021
- PAX AUS: more information coming soon
- PAX Unplugged: December 10-12, 2021
But, let’s address the elephant in the room: this is all being planned despite COVID-19 (coronavirus) cases spiking globally. PAX says if things don’t improve by next Summer, they will cancel the shows or convert them to a digital experience similar to PAX Online that took place earlier this year after PAX West was cancelled. Currently, these dates are being released early to allow industry guests to plan for the upcoming year, assuming public gatherings are allowed by then. “We care deeply for the health and safety of our amazing attendees and industry partners who have brought PAX to life for 17 years,” said Kyle Marsden-Kish, Director of PAX Events. “We are cautiously optimistic about improvements in the global COVID-19 situation next year, but we are carefully monitoring the situation to make sure PAX only proceeds if deemed safe to do so.” [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=games-to-play-while-stuck-at-home&captions=true"] Most of 2020 has been shaped by the ongoing pandemic with so, so many events being cancelled, postponed, or reimagined. San Diego Comic-Con, one of the largest annual conventions, shifted to an online event earlier this year. Likewise, DC held its first-ever FanDome, a multi-day online experience full of announcements and events. While it may seem outlandish to announce large events at the height of a pandemic, PAX is remaining optimistic that things will get better by next Summer. Now, it’s up to the rest of us to do our part. Wear a mask. Find out how to help, and stay safe, during the coronavirus pandemic. Metal Gear Solid Movie Reportedly Casts Oscar Isaac As Solid Snake
Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ long in the works Metal Gear Solid movie is pushing forward and Oscar Isaac is reportedly attached to star as Solid Snake.
According to Deadline Isaac, a popular fan choice for the role is slated to play Solid Snake in Vogt-Roberts' (Kong: Skull Island) live-action adaptation of the 1998 Konami video game. A script has been written by Derek Connoly, with Avi Arad producing.
Vogt-Roberts has been working on a Metal Gear Solid adaptation since at least 2017, and a script has been in production since then as well. But with Isaac attached, it appears that Sony Pictures is finally making moves to get production on the long-awaited live-action film started.

Isaac is best known for his role as Poe Dameron in the Star Wars series, but also in critical hits like Ex Machina and Inside Llewyn Davis. He will play Duke Leto Atreides in the upcoming Dune film.
In fact, it was during an IGN interview for Netflix's Triple Frontier that Isaac stated his desire to take on the role of Solid Snake. "Metal Gear Solid, that's the one," Isaac said at the time. "I'm throwing my hat in for that one."
Following the interview, Vogt-Roberts commissioned artist Boss Logic to mock up what a potential Isaac as Snake would look like, and you can see the results for yourself below.
Metal Gear Solid is a 1998 PlayStation game, and the first 3D entry for the stealth-action series created by Hideo Kojima. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season One Content Map Revealed
Treyarch has revealed everything that's coming to Season One of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War when the update drops on December 16.
The Season One update, which includes the integration of Cold War content into free-to-play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone, was originally set to drop on December 10, but the date has been shifted to December 16 to give the team "a few more days to finalize everything." Treyarch says Season One is the largest free content drop in Black Ops history and it includes new multiplayer maps, new modes and playlists, new Zombies modes, season challenges, a seasonal prestige system, and more.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-operator-in-call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war&captions=true"]
This update will bring fan-favorite 6v6 modes and playlists to the game, as well as the return of 2v2 Gunfight with four new maps. It will also bring additional multiplayer maps into the fold, like Raid, which is a map set in a sprawling mansion within the hills of Hollywood originally from Call of Duty: Black Ops II. A new Fireteam map will be added as well.
Free-to-acquire weapons for the Gunsmith table will be added to the game alongside new Zombies modes, some new Season Challenges, and a full cross-title launch of the Seasonal Prestige System, which features 1000 Season Levels to progress through.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/11/17/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-multiplayer-review"]
On the Warzone side of things, Treyarch is preparing to drop players into a brand new map.
"Battle Royale is set to go beyond Verdansk: prepare to drop into a new Warzone map and mode at launch," the blog post reads. "Warzone's arsenal gets even bigger with over 30 Black Ops Cold War base weapons, as well as Blueprint variants. Also, make sure you're ready to face down fellow prisoners of Warzone in a new Gulag experience."
To tide players over waiting for the update, starting December 12 through the launch of Season One, Treyarch will enable Double XP and Double Weapon XP in Cold War. Two free bundles — "Field Research" and "Certified" — will be available as well during that time and all you need to do is login once in order to claim them.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-ign-call-of-duty-review&captions=true"]
In between now and the start of Season One, Treyarch will be updating Cold War with some quality-of-life improvements on December 8 and then the game will receive another update on December 15 to officially prep players for Season One. Warzone will receive its Cold War Season One update on December 16, at which point, the season will launch simultaneously across both Cold War and Warzone.
