The Division 2: Ubisoft Massive Confirms More Content Is Planned for 2021

The Division 2's Title Update 12 was meant to be the last Title Update for the game, but Ubisoft has changed its mind and has confirmed that more content is on the way later this year. Ubisoft Massive posted a message from The Division 2 team on Reddit, saying that this new content is due to "your continuous passion and support." "Today, we are thrilled to confirm that there will be additional content for The Division 2 released later this year! It is your continuous passion and support which enables us to continue to build upon The Division 2 experience, and we cannot thank you enough for that," Ubisoft Massive wrote. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/02/division-2-on-ps5-14-minutes-of-4k-60fps-gameplay"] "Some of you had noticed that Title Update 12 was originally meant to be the last major Title Update for The Division 2, but thanks to your continued support, we are now in the early stages of development for fresh content to release later in 2021." While no details were revealed as to what this content may be, Ubisoft promised we "won't have to wait too long." This is great news for fans of The Division 2, especially those who are returning to the game or trying it for the first time since its 4K/60 FPS next-gen update arrived for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/10/the-division-2-warlords-of-new-york-review"] Ubisoft Massive, alongside working on updates for The Division 2, is also developing both an Avatar game and the recently announced open world Star Wars project. Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge to Create and Star in Mr. and Mrs. Smith Series

A Mr. and Mrs. Smith series is currently in development at Amazon, based on the 2005 film starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and will star Donald Glover and Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Glover and Waller-Bridge will also co-create and executive produce the series with showrunner/EP Francesca Sloane (Atlanta, Fargo). Mr. and Mrs. Smith will premiere exclusively on Prime Video, in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, released the following in a statement: “Talk about the dream team! Donald and Phoebe are two of the most talented creators and performers in the world. It’s truly a dream for us, as it will be for our global audience, to have these two forces of nature collaborating as a powerhouse creative team. Mr. and Mrs. Smith is an iconic property, and we can’t wait to see how Donald, Phoebe and Francesca make it their own. We’re thrilled to be working with them, and with such great partners at New Regency.” [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=solo-a-star-wars-story-easter-eggs-trivia-and-references&captions=true"] The 2005 film, directed by Doug Liman, follows the explosive adventures of a married couple who discover they are assassins belonging to competing espionage agencies. Glover and Waller-Bridge starred together, once before, in Solo: A Star Wars Story where he played gambler Lando Calrissian and she voiced Lando's droid companion L3-37, who, by the end of the film, had her consciousness uploaded into the Millennium Falcon. Back in 2007, a Mr. and Mrs. Smith sequel series was in development for ABC, and was to pick up the story six months after the events in the movie. A pilot was filmed, starring Jordana Brewster and Martin Henderson, but the series was never picked up. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/05/25/the-surprise-breakout-characters-of-solo-a-star-wars-story"] As of a year ago, Donald Glover's FX series Atlanta was expected to air both its third and fourth season in 2021, though it's not currently known if the pandemic dramatically delayed the Atlanta production that was supposed to happen in 2020. After creating and starring in Fleabag, and then developing the series Killing Eve, Waller-Bridge also contributed to the No Time to Die script. No Time to Die, after many delays, and also almost taking a streaming deal, is currently scheduled to hit theaters on October 8, 2021.

New Ratchet and Clank Animated Short Is Unrelated to PS5’s Rift Apart

A brand new Ratchet & Clank animated short has appeared mysteriously on the Canadian streaming service Crave. But according to PlayStation, Ratchet & Clank: Life of Pie is an original licensed animation unrelated to the upcoming PS5 game Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Last night, Reddit users discovered a mysterious new Ratchet & Clank animation on the streaming service Crave. More than that, Life of Pie also starred the original voice cast for the Ratchet & Clank video games. The animation was done by Mainframe, which created the animated movie, and the credits say the feature was produced in 2019. But PlayStation confirmed to IGN that Life of Pie is not related to the upcoming PS5 game and not canon. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/11/ratchet-clank-rift-apart-release-date-trailer"] “Ratchet & Clank: Life of Pie is a standalone, licensed animated special created and distributed by Mainframe Studios,” says a PlayStation spokesperson. “The show is not related to the upcoming Ratchet & Clank game for PlayStation 5 and is not official canon to the franchise’s video game narrative.” Mainframe Studios is the same production company that created Ratchet & Clank: The Movie, which was itself a tie-in to the PlayStation 4 Ratchet & Clank game (which is fantastic, according to IGN’s review). The movie itself doesn’t quite reach the highs of the video game, but if you enjoyed it, there’s now another mini-feature available on Crave for your viewing pleasure. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=ratchet-clank-rift-apart-key-art-box-art-pre-order-bonuses-digital-editions&captions=true"] But if you’re excited about Ratchet & Clank’s PS5 outing, then unfortunately the Life of Pie will not have any secret easter eggs for you. However, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is coming soon on June 11, 2021. And no, we still don’t know the name of the mysterious new Lombax. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt T.M. System Shock 2 VR Officially Announced

System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition is getting a fully playable VR mode. IGN can exclusively reveal that Nightdive Studios is working on the fully-fleshed VR mode complete with its own VR-focused development team. It began when Nightdive Studios posted a tweet in January showing Nightdive Studios CEO Stephen Kick using a VR controller to play System Shock 2. The tweet served as a hint at what Nightdive Studios was already looking into for its enhanced version of the sequel, which was whether or not VR could work for System Shock 2. “During the process of reverse-engineering the missing libraries for System Shock 2, we had an opportunity to play around with the idea of creating a standalone VR version,” says Kick in an interview with IGN. “And so we brought on an [VR] expert to look about the cod and give us a brief idea of what kind of things we could do.” [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2016/03/15/system-shock-enhanced-edition-official-pre-alpha-gameplay-trailer"] With this blueprint, Nightdive found that there was a solid enough foundation in System Shock 2 to begin fleshing out a full VR version. Kick says System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition will be fully playable in VR along with the game’s multiplayer mode. So co-op can be played in VR in cross-platform, where one player can be in VR and another can play on a standard PC. Kick was also clear that VR isn’t just a tacked-on extra, but a fully-fleshed out feature. Nightdive is working with an outline on how to create a “really remarkable, built from the ground up VR experience.” [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=system-shock-enhanced-edition-screenshots&captions=true"] Nightdive cites the immersive potential of VR as one of the main reasons for pursuing this dedicated mode for System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition. “When you’re in VR, you’re the one actually swinging the weapons, you’re reloading [the guns] yourself, you’re not just hitting a button and having the character reload the gun automatically.” The team has been studying other VR games and one title that has set a bar for immersion is Half-Life: Alyx, which Nightdive says is a big inspiration. “[Half-Life: Alyx has] just become essential in creating that feeling that you’re there… Things like being able to pick up items from a distance is something that was really important in Half-Life: Alyx, and it’s something you’ll be able to do in System Shock VR as well.”

Currently, System Shock 2 VR is in the prototype stage, so the VR version will not be released alongside System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition, which is planned to be released alongside Nightdive’s full remake of System Shock.

Nvidia’s RTX 3060 GPU Release Date Announced

Nvidia has announced that its midrange RTX 3060 graphics card will be released on February 25.

Customers will be able to order the RTX 3060 from retailers starting at 9 AM PT/ 12 PM ET that day. No Founder’s Edition of the 3060 is planned, according to The Verge.

[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=nvidia-ces-2021-geforce-rtx-3060&captions=true"]

The RTX 3060 will cost you $329, making it significantly more affordable than the RTX 3060 Ti ($399) or the much more powerful 30-series GPUs, the top of which (the RTX 3090) goes for $1,499.

Utilizing Nvidia’s Ampere architecture, the RTX 3060 has 12GB of GDDR6 memory with 13 Shader TFLOPS, 25 RT TFLOPS, and 101 Tensor TFLOPS. At $329, the RTX 3060 should allow price-conscious PC gamers to build a rig that rivals or possibly even beats the PS5 or Xbox Series X for roughly the same price.

[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=nvidia-ces-2021-geforce-30-series-laptops&captions=true"]

If you’re more of a laptop gamer, don’t worry about being left in the dust. Nvidia also recently revealed 30-series RTX cards for mobile machines, bringing the power of the 3060, 3070, and 3080 to laptops.
