Jason Statham Says Justice for Han Needs to Happen Before Fast & Furious Saga Ends
Jason Statham wants his Fast & the Furious character to get what’s coming to him.
With F9 reintroducing fan-favorite character Han, who was seemingly murdered in Tokyo Drift by Statham’s character, fans have been clamoring for justice to be served. The social media hashtag #JusticeForHan has carried the torch for the fallen, now revived, family member ever since.
While Han returns in F9, Statham's character Shaw is nowhere in sight. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, however, Statham served himself up for a butt-kicking anyways.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/04/15/fast-9-cena-and-hans-roles-explained-ign-the-fix-entertainment"]"They better bring me back, because I need to put out that fire," Statham tells EW, referencing the car explosion he triggered in the mid-credits scene of Fast & Furious 6. It was revealed that killing Han was an act of revenge for his brother Owen Shaw, the antagonist of that film who was killed by the Fast crew. "If he's got any score to settle, it's with me," Statham said of Han's return.
Justin Lin, director of the franchise’s third, fourth, and fifth installments, is returning to direct F9. Fast 4, 5, and 6 were set before the events of Tokyo Drift, allowing Han to continue being a presence throughout the movies. Statham tells EW that he’s glad to return to the Fast franchise for its final two installments."I'm game,” Statham says. “I love Justin Lin, he's a great director. It's a shame because when I joined the franchise all those years back, he went on to do something else and all I did with Justin was a little tag at the end. I need to do a movie with him. And I'd love to see all the Fast crew, Vin [Diesel] and everybody, they're all great people. I have a lot of affection for them."
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/04/14/fast-furious-9-michelle-rodriguez-and-john-cena-on-giant-magnets-and-flying-cars"]
Lin told IGN earlier this month about fixing the Han-shaped hole in the Fast & the Furious franchise, saying the reaction to Han appearing in F9’s latest trailer “meant a lot.” Bringing the past and the future of the Fast franchise is certainly a running theme in F9, with John Cena playing Dominic Toretto’s younger brother.
F9 is out on in cinemas on June 17, 2021 in Australia and June 25 in North America. Do keep in mind that the COVID-19 pandemic is still a major issue in the United States, and not every filmgoer may be fully vaccinated, so exercise proper caution if visiting a theater.

Super Nintendo World Forced to Closure Just a Month After Grand Opening
Scott Pilgrim Director Holds ‘No Bitterness’ for Box Office Flop
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World director Edgar Wright says that he has “ no bitterness at all for how [the movie] did 11 years ago.”
In a lengthy interview with Collider, Wright discussed the film’s legacy as a cult favorite, how he coped with its lackluster performance at the box office (earning only roughly half of its $85 million budget back), and how the divisive ending came to be.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/03/24/scott-pilgrim-vs-the-world-10th-anniversary-release-official-trailer"]“It’s a funny thing,” Wright said. “Michael Moses, who's the head of marketing at Universal, he sent me the best email the Monday after it came out. I was very proud of the movie, but it's that weird thing where you get emails from people where they kind of think that you might be suicidal or something (laughs). I was like, 'Well, I'm still promoting the movie. I'm here in London in fact, to do a premiere. So I'm keeping upbeat about things.'" Wright continued, "But he sent the best email that I've ever had about movie. So it opens it number five. I deliberately that weekend did not read any of the trades. I figured it's not a good thing. It's not useful in any way to read Deadline or Box Office Mojo, or any of those things. So I didn't, and I still never have. But he sent me this email, and all it said was, "Years, not days." It was just one of the best emails about anything in my career I've ever received. Michael Moses sent an email and all it said was, "Years, not days."
Scott Pilgrim, based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s then in-progress graphic novel, did eventually become a cultural success, spawning countless bits of merchandise, including a beat-em-up video game and multiple board games. The film is returning for a 10th-anniversary celebration on April 30 at select Dolby Cinema locations across the U.S.
Wright compared Scott Pilgrim’s life beyond the box office to similar cinema classics, like John Carpenter’s The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, or Blade Runner, none of which performed exceptionally in theaters.
“There's tons of them that obviously you think were hits, and then you realize, "Oh, that wasn't a hit when it came out?" It's funny, when you look at Big Trouble in Little China, it did not even crack the top 10 when it came out, which is insane,” Wright said. “But then I think about when I saw it in 1986, I was alone in the cinema watching it (laughs).”
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/11/17/director-styles-movie-lists-cinefix"]
Throughout the years, there’s been plenty of rumors and tidbits about the possibility of a Scott Pilgrim sequel, but almost never any confirmation either way. Wright told Collider that there’s still some potential for more Scott Pilgrim universe adventures.
“So the nice thing was I knew that people there loved it, and also — because over the years there's never been a call for a sequel because I think that’s something that is financially not manageable, but it kept getting re-released on Blu-ray,” Wright said. “I mean, more fucking Funko Pops than you can imagine. You could fill a house with Funko Pops of Scott Pilgrim. And then occasionally you'd get calls from Universal saying, 'Is there anything else we can do with Scott Pilgrim?' I can't speak out of turn, but there's still some potential things that might happen in that regard.”
As for Scott Pilgrim’s lasting legacy, Wright intimates that he’s just happy the cast largely still considers it a positive step in their career. For many, it was an early step towards absolute stardom, with Captain America’s Chris Evans and Captain Marvel’s Brie Larson appearing as members of Ramona Flowers’ evil exes. The cast also included Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aubrey Plaza, Anna Kendrick, Superman actor Brandon Routh, and others.
“That's the funny thing is the trailer now, you can rattle off all those names,” Wright said. “Back then, there was nobody above the title. Not even Michael was above the title when it came out before. Listen, I have no bitterness at all for how it did 11 years ago. It just doesn't matter. And I sort of knew that at the time, even though it was a tough thing — basically, when that happens, more what you’re thinking is like, "Will I be allowed to work again?" (laughs) That's what your main priority is, will they let me make another film? And so, I've been very fortunate. ”
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=top-25-best-anime-series-of-all-time&captions=true"]Scott Pilgrim diehards also know that the theatrical ending (wherein Scott and Ramona get together again) wasn’t the original one the crew had filmed. The original had Knives Chau, Scott’s 17-year-old ex, get back together with him even after he cheated on her with Ramona. Of the two endings, Wright says he prefers the theatrical cut with Scott and Ramona.
“I think me and [writer] Michael Bacall originally, we were trying to write an ending that was in the vein of The Graduate or The Heartbreak Kid, where our hero gets what he wants, but maybe that isn't what he needs,” Wright said. “But then trying to do that scene or that tone with Ellen Wong, the most adorable actress on the planet, it just didn't feel right. It felt like trying to do this kind of ending is unfair on Knives and unfair on Ellen. [...] But then when I told her, I said, "So we're going to shoot a new ending." And then when I told her what it was, she goes, "Oh, I'm so glad you said that, because I was thinking Knives is too proud to take him back. It makes her look really weak that she takes him back after he cheated on her." And I was thinking, "Oh, thank God.'” Scott Pilgrim's 10th anniversary is past, but the film lives on. No Post-Kredits Scene in Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat Does Not Have a Post-Credits Scene
Sorry, but Mortal Kombat does not have any additional footage hidden during or after the credits. Perhaps that's not surprising, given that the movie itself is pretty direct about dropping hints as to what's coming next. The ending directly sets the stage for a sequel, and more than one MK icon appears in cameo form, suggesting they'll be playing bigger roles in Round 2. In fact, the final scene (and shot) of the film feels like it could've served as a post-credits scene, but McQuoid and the studio obviously decided to use it to end their film. New Pokemon Snap Website Gives a Tour of the Lental Region Ahead of Launch
When you make it to the actual site, you'll be shown an overview of the Lental region and you'll see eight different icons on the map. By "visiting," as it were, the eight icons on the map, you'll earn My Nintendo Points. From left to right across the map above, they are the Nature Park, Nighttime, the Desert, the Jungle, "Using Items," the Beach, "Photodex & Album," and Daytime.
In the Nature Park part of the map, you'll be given a brief glimpse of what to expect there in a quick, 10-second video. The Nature Park is exactly what it sounds like: a beautiful, natural park with Pokemon like Bouffalant, Taillow, and Swanna freely roaming about.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/26/new-pokemon-snap-official-gameplay-trailer"]
After viewing the video, you'll be brought to a landing page with four unique photos that show some of the things players can expect to encounter in the game such as a Grookey and a Pichu playing together, a Florges waiving at the camera, and more.
Be sure to click each photo to watch a quick video showcasing how that photo was captured in the game. After checking out each of the four photos, you can then take a photo or upload your own to the site. The site will then automatically apply a website-exclusive frame based on that part of the map to your photo, at which point, you're free to save and share said photo on social media.
In the Nighttime section of the map, you'll encounter Pokemon doing some unique "nighttime" activities, such as a Lyrcanroc howling in the night. It's here that you'll likely learn about the hidden trivia questions scattered about the site — we were asked how many forms of Lycanroc are in the game here.
Each of the other named areas of the map like the Nature Park, the Desert, the Jungle, the Beach, and Daytime feature the same kind of setup: a quick video introducing this part of the map, four photos showcasing what players can expect to see there, and a button to grab the photo frame for that area.
Two of the icons on the map — "Using Items" and "Photodex & Album" — led to the more informational pages of the site. The "Using Items" page had quick explainers for how items like Fluffruit, Illumina Orbs, and Melodies work in the game.
The "Photodex & Album" page explains the game's many mechanics related specifically to your photo captures such as the ability to edit them by adjusting blur, focus size, focal point, brightness, and more. The videos here also demonstrate how players can add filters, stickers, and frames to each of their photos as well as how photos are rated in the game based on the pose, size, direction, placement, whether another Pokemon is present in the capture, and the background of the photo.
