People Are Criticizing Mixer’s Clothing Rules as Sexist

Mixer, the streaming platform that recently managed to sign on Ninja to stream exclusively on their service over Twitch, is being criticized for what some call strict and likely sexist clothing guidelines.

Mixer’s official clothing guidelines states that “There are some limits to what streamers can wear on camera. Our rules on clothing attempt to allow for expression while still keeping things safe for the wide variety of audience members that make use of our site.”

Fortnite Fans Have Harsh Words for Season 10’s Mechs

The B.R.U.T.E. mech is one of the most prominent additions to Fortnite Battle Royale Season 10, and it hasn't taken long for fans to express just how much they dislike it and other changes that have come to Fortnite's latest season.

The B.R.U.T.E is a two-person bipedal vehicle where one player controls its movement while the other is in charge of its weapons - though a single player can operate it alone by switching between moving and attacking. Capable of firing powerful missiles and shotgun blasts, fans consider the addition to be highly overpowered, and even the most accomplished Fortnite pros are frequently falling to its barrages.

Even those who prefer building can't easily escape its reign of destruction, as it can tear through buildings and built objects with ease. They can, of course, be destroyed, but their considerable firepower, solid pool of health and Overshield mechanic make that a difficult task.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Devs Comment on Battle Royale

Last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 included the Blackout battle royale mode, which turned out to be a polished take on the formula that worked really well. But Blackout won’t be part of this year’s Modern Warfare reboot, and it sounds like the developer at Infinity Ward didn't consider including it. At the multiplayer reveal this week, Joe Cecot, the multiplayer design director, told IGN that Modern Warfare and Black Ops 4 just have very different vibes.

“We really focused on Modern Warfare, authentic and gritty, realistic weapons, and it’s a different experience. It’s really...just about pulling back to Modern Warfare and keeping that pure,” Cecot said.

Ninja’s Mixer Livestream Debut Beat His Average Twitch Viewer Count

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins made his Mixer debut today, streaming six hours of Fortnite Battle Royale to an average of 65,000 viewers. A much higher viewer count than what the streamer has been averaging recently on Twitch.

Ninja, a massively popular Fortnite player and livestreamer, announced yesterday that he will be streaming exclusively on Mixer going forward. Mixer is Microsoft’s livestreaming service and Twitch rival, though it hasn’t had quite the success as Amazon’s livestreaming platform.

Although the livestreaming industry reacted with shock to Ninja’s move to Mixer, there were still plenty of questions. Namely: how will Ninja’s viewership hold up following the move?

Roblox Hit 100 Million Monthly Players, Surpassing Minecraft

Roblox achieved a new milestone after announcing the game has surpassed 100 million monthly active users. This puts Roblox Corporation’s game creator ahead of Minecraft.

“Roblox began with just 100 players and a handful of creators who inspired one another, unlocking this groundswell of creativity, collaboration, and imagination that continues to grow,” Roblox Corporation CEO and founder David Baszucki said in a press release.

Roblox was released in 2006, three years before Minecraft was released in 2009. Both games share a DNA influenced by Lego toys, but aside from their blocky aesthetics are relatively separate games.

Sonic the Hedgehog Movie: Jim Carrey Talks Reshoots and Feeling ‘Out of Control’

Actor Jim Carrey, who plays Doctor Robotnik in the upcoming live-action Sonic The Hedgehog movie, has commented on what he calls the “collective consciousness” that led to filmmakers agreeing to re-do the controversial CGI design for Sonic.

Carrey was at the annual Television Critics Association meeting to discuss the second season of his Showtime series Kidding. There, he was asked what he thought about the way social media led to the makers behind the upcoming live-action Sonic movie to change the controversial design of Sonic.

“I don’t know quite how I feel about the audience being in on the creation of it while it’s happening,” Carrey says. “So, we’ll have to see what that entails, because sometimes you find that the collective consciousness decides it wants something, and then when it get it, it goes, ‘Okay. I just wanted it. I didn’t care about it. I just jumped on the bandwagon’ or whatever.”
