Invisible Is a First Foray Into Scripted VR Storytelling

Doug Liman, director of Edge of Tomorrow and The Bourne Identity -- not to mention the upcoming Dark Universe (DC’s Justice League Dark movie) and Edge of Tomorrow 2 -- embarked on his first foray into virtual reality with Invisible, an episodic drama that requires a VR headset like the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive to view.

Invisible isn’t just a first for Liman, though; it’s one of the first ever (possibly the first) live action, scripted, narrative projects made exclusively for virtual reality.

The short (five to seven minutes) episodes concern the Ashlands, a wealthy and powerful family who possess the power of invisibility, passed down to some members through the luck of genetics. How Frank Miller Would Do a Batman Movie

Filmmaker and comics writer Frank Miller, who penned Batman: Year One and The Dark Knight Returns, has opened up about his preferred direction for the Caped Crusader on the big screen.

Speaking with Variety, Miller discussed how he would tackle a Batman movie.

"My dream would be to make it much smaller," he said. "To lose the toys and to focus more on the mission, and to use the city a great deal more.

"Because he’s got a loving relationship with the city he’s protecting," Miller elaborated. "And unlike Superman, his connection to crime is intimate; it has been ever since his parents were murdered. And he defeats criminals with his hands. So it would be a different take. But it will never be in my hands, because it would not be a good place to make toys from."
