Don Bradman Cricket 17 Announced, Due December

Developer Big Ant Studios has today confirmed Don Bradman Cricket 17 will launch this December on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, smack bang in the midst of Australia’s annual summer of cricket.

The successor to the well-received Don Bradman Cricket 14, Big Ant explains DBC17 will feature a new lighting system, “photo realistic skin tones”, and also promises to add more control depth to what’s already an admirably nuanced cricket simulation. Those who make the upgrade from the previous Don Bradman Cricket will be able to import their players from the last game.

We’ll be able to get a glimpse of DBC17 from today with the launch of the new Don Bradman Cricket Academy, available free on Steam.

Alice 2 Writer Weighs in on Disney’s Live-Action Slate

You may not recognize Linda Woolverton's name, but you definitely know her work. In addition to writing the screenplay for Disney's Alice Through the Looking Glass, she's worked on The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent. She's also the first woman to pen a Disney animated feature film (Beauty) and the only woman with a sole writing credit on a billion-dollar movie (Burton's Alice).

Today, I had the pleasure of speaking with Woolverton about the new Alice sequel, as well as her time at Disney, and the studio's live-action adaptations...

IGN Movies: Let's dive right in with Alice Through the Looking Glass. Obviously this story was very different from the book. How did you go about breaking this story while also building on what you had done before with Alice in Wonderland?

The Last Guardian: The Shocking Truth About Trico

Shafts of bright sunshine from high above pierce through the darkness, casting dappled light on the hulking chains that curl about the floor of the cave. Butterflies flitter above them, oblivious to the enormous animal the chain snakes towards, and the harness around its neck. The creature is lying still, wounded; two spears jut out from vermillion-stained feathers.

It’s not dead, however, and as I tentatively move toward it, the beast rears its head and grows agitated, snapping at me if I approach from the front and casting about to keep me in view if I approach from the side. It’s clearly in pain, however, and I decide to take a chance and climb onto its hindquarters, to where a spear is lodged, just below what appears to be broken armour plating on its back.

All Larger GameStop Stores Will Have VR Demos

GameStop announced today its commitment to getting virtual reality experiences into the hands of as many gamers as possible.

"All our larger stores will have VR demos," the company announced during its investor call. Currently there are 10 GameStop locations with HTC Vive demo units, and the company said it plans to increase that number to 100 in the near-term. Eventually hundreds of locations will have VR demos.

It mentioned demo units for the upcoming PlayStation VR unit will be coming, as well, with the philosophy being VR sells better when customers have a chance to get hands-on time with the units.

For smaller retail locations, GameStop still plans to provide support for demos of virtual reality devices, however it didn't reveal any specifics.

Star Trek Beyond: That Crazy Base Explained

When the new trailer for Star Trek Beyond dropped over the weekend, many fans noticed the reveal of some kind of enormous new space station/spaceship/space something. Was the Enterprise docking with an orbital platform above Earth, ala Star Trek: The Motion Picture? Was this a crazy alien ship, or a Starfleet starbase, or something else entirely?

Last year, while on the set of Star Trek Beyond, I spoke to Scotty actor Simon Pegg, and he filled me and the other visiting press in on what this design is. After all, as co-writer of the film along with Doug Jung, he should know!

Theory Explains Crazy Captain America Twist

Yesterday, the world was thrown for a loop when a shocking twist changed everything for Captain America in a story by writer Nick Spencer and artist Jesus Saiz. But a particular comic fan’s theory has us looking at the twist in a whole new way.

Warning: this article contains spoilers for Steve Rogers: Captain America #1!

CaptainAmericaSteveRogers_Cov

At the end of the first issue of Steve Rogers: Captain America #1, we see Cap throw his teammate, Jack Flag, out of a jet and declare, “Hail Hydra.” Instantly, we are meant to believe that everything we’ve ever known about Cap is a lie because he’s secretly been a Hydra sleeper agent the whole time. Flashbacks in the issue support this, showing how when Steve was a child, a mysterious woman named Elisa Sinclair lured his mother to a secret Hydra meeting in order to get close enough to corrupt him.

There Could Be 7 Power Rangers Movies Coming

We could be seeing as many as seven Power Rangers movies over the coming years.

According to Variety, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said as much during a conference call today. "We are really really excited about the Power Rangers movie... We could see doing five or six or seven," he said.

Of course, the first Power Rangers film needs to make money first, and then we'll see how those other five or six films work out. But for now, it's clear Lionsgate has high hopes for the potential series.

Feltheimer also spoke about the positive reaction to the recent unveiling of the Power Rangers' costumes. The Dean Israelite-directed movie is due to open on March 24, 2017, and is set to star Ludi Lin, Becky G., Naomi Scott, R.J. Cyler, and Dacre Montgomery.

Fantastic Four’s Jamie Bell Has Met for James Bond Role

Daniel Craig is reportedly joining the cast of director Steven Soderbergh's heist film Logan Lucky, a move that has some industry insiders further betting that his run as James Bond has come to an end.

With Logan Lucky -- which also stars Channing Tatum, Seth McFarlane, Adam Driver, and Katherine Heigl -- and his forthcoming Showtime TV series Purity, Craig's schedule is filling up fast. The actor infamously jested while promoting his latest Bond film, SPECTRE, that he'd rather slit his wrists than return for James Bond 25.

Perhaps the Bond filmmakers are taking him at his word as Deadline says it's confirmed Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has met with Fantastic Four and Tintin actor Jamie Bell about the role of Bond, James Bond. Broccoli is producing Bell's current movie, Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool.
